  • NOTE: Since recording this, the equalizer has been renamed “Filter Curve.” It’s the same effect, just with a different name.
    I’ve already been asked about this by several people, so here’s how I doctored the audio in my previous After Effects tutorial.

    If you wanna get it perfect, add a 16khz sine wave to simulate the noise a CRT TV makes.

      okay but what amplitude settings do i need for this? im tired to generate 16khz sine wave but im getting grey button. what im doing wrong?

    The VHS audio warble is a defining part of growing up in the era before about 2005. DVDs arrived around 2000, VHS was totally obsolete and rarely ever seen by 2010 I'd say

    • @MerlinErdogmus
      @MerlinErdogmus 2 месяца назад

      True, though a lot of movies still to continue to show VHS' when some character gives some other character video footage.
      I guess it's because of the visual aspect being that the VHS was quite unique in comparison to laser discs, DVDs, USB-sticks and what not.
      At this point it's post-post-satire to see someone getting a tape.

    EXACTLY. WHAT. I. WAS. LOOKING. FOR !!!
    Thanks so much man, just came here from some like 90 min of researching RUclips and Reddit because I wanted to emulate/recreate the sound from example given old 80s anime or some like the first episodes of dragon ball.
    Thanks man, I love following ideas and I hate when I can’t find a solution, thanks third time from Berlin 👌✌️

    Also, I saw those two episodes of the cancelled Katarn's Mind from awhile back. You should give that one a reboot tbh, now that you're more experienced with acting and you actually sound like an adult.
    Despite the at-the-time premature voice, the dialogue itself was pretty spot-on; it sounded like stuff someone in the Star Wars universe would talk about, and the way you kept it up throughout and gave it an entertaining 'personality' really does Ross justice.
    In short, I think it has a lot of potential, and may bring in more subs, in fact (Star Wars fanbase is a big pool to draw from, and FM was a pretty popular series itself); and that would mean more people will be more likely to see your actual home movies as well :3

    • @RiveroftheValley
      @RiveroftheValley  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks! I gave up on Katarn's Mind because (beyond maybe the first episode) it just didn't turn out to be good enough, nor fun enough, to keep up throughout the whole game. Though maybe it would be worth another shot at some point…

    • @Mordecai02
      @Mordecai02 5 лет назад +1

      I think it'd be worth another go. As I said, writing-wise (and also editing-wise) it had a similar appeal and charm to FM, which a lot of Mind series fail to fully capture. Especially charming in your case was how you kept the writing consistent with the facts of life in the SW setting. You even went the extra mile of taking the HUD out in post and downplaying other 'gamey' aspects of Dark Forces, which completes the experience XD So yeah, I think that it's yet got potential. It's really up to you, of course.

    • @RiveroftheValley
      @RiveroftheValley  3 года назад

      Okay, I looked up the error. Are you using Windows Media Player? There are a few things you can try to fix it: First, when you exported your file, it might have been with a different extension, like .aiff. Even if the header is WAV, it might not read the file correctly. Try renaming the file to change its extension to .wav. Windows Explorer hides extensions by default now, so you’ll have to disable that in the options. You can also try exporting it again with a filename ending in .wav. If that doesn’t work either, you can try to re‐encode it. Open the exported 8‐bit file in Audacity, and export it again as a 16‐bit WAV or an MP3.

    I simulated very damaged VHS and its pretty accurate, you just use a overlay and a unsharpen mask.
    Without the unsharpen mask, it wont blend in and I am using this overlay I found on RUclips called 'VHS Noise In 4k'.
