Lost way out in the forests of New England is old history. All the land at one point in time was occupied and lived upon by the American colonists going back into the 1600s.
Many of the built homes and did their best to carve farms out of the unforgiving land that we have here in NH. Many of these homesites where abandoned and left only after a generation of a family living there, but they left behind some clues.
In this video I go hiking miles into the NH woods bushwhacking and following game trails until I get my self into a location that feels right. Climbing up on to a high point on the land I start looking for the signs that humans left behind hundreds of years ago. Stacked rocks ! look for any and all old stone walls and follow them. I got lucky on this day and found the old cellar hole foundation of a colonial house so far away from any roads.
So with my Garrett ATGOLD metal detector I start looking for relics in the ground. A good day of digging I found a very interesting cufflink the either has crystal or glass on the face with a little red flower inside. A few old buttons, pewter spoon, old tools and more.

Awesome site!! Love the History!!! ENJOY YOUR NOT THURSDAY!!!!!
Nice finds, great job on locating the site also. Enjoyed your video and as always Be Safe and HH.
That is definitely a site that would be worth the work of raking back the top layer and seeing if it improves the signals. Those were some beautiful buttons. Thanks for sharing, take care and be safe.

I know you said "not much". I thought it was a good days finds, but I've only watched about 4 of your vids in the last 24 hours! Do you have recommended video/videos for me to watch??
That might be a good digging and finding some good pieces??
Thank You for a GREAT VIDEO!!
Have a GREAT Day!!!
I love all the different buttons you find.
Nice discovery and relics Charlie. Do we know what these homesteads looked like? With the walls and stacked rocks, do we know enough to get an idea of what a colonial farm or homestead looked like? It would be interesting to see.
Great video as always!!
6:24 looks to be a Thompson/Center Maxi-ball. modern muzzle loader projectile.
👊😁
I typed my like at 11 seconds and I wasn't fast enough lol. What amazing relics you found there Charlie, the cufflink is a beauty and the 2 buttons are so unusual I would guess they are quite a bit older than you usually recover. Also the plate (I can't remember how to spell it lol) that goes on furniture, that also looks as if it was made in the 1600,s not later. It reminds me of something I saw on a visit to an old manor house many years ago now, the guide pointed out the etching on the drawer plates. What an amazing adventure you had and you found the elusive cellar hole, I think you can sense one in an area lol. Take care my friend, good luck and happy hunting Mary-Ellen LFOD
I read this article and thought you might enjoy it Charlie. www.atlasobscura.com/articles/new-england-stone-walls
Cool the two buttons match! Cool beans you found it!! Have a great week and Enjoy your NOT Thursday day!😊😊
Once again, you hit it out of the park Charlie. You are most certainly going to keep the Guru busy researching occupants. Enjoying out woodlore visits.
I have been jumping around a bit catching up on videos LOVE your buttons reminded me of a circular saw blade BUT didn't I see a matching design on a piece of escutcheon in a recent video? Thanks for the hike as always Charlie
You seem to be finding sites at a faster rate than last year. Do you look at probate records as part of your research? When doing title searches, I found that probate records sometimes filled in parts of the puzzle. Good Luck, Rick
Colonial homes...always worth multiple recaps!
I would like to see you go back with the Equinox 800 and see if there aren't more targets down deep.
Yet another great site located! You are on a roll this year, and maybe have the Not Thursday channel is helping in some way, as it gives you more chances to do out and scout on your own. Love these NT videos!
I love your videos Charlie. Keeps me going while I’m unable too detect with my health. Thanks again
Doesn't it stand to reason that if there is an iron bed with relics and not much or non elsewhere, that the place was already searched and they just passed over the iron bed. You have a better knack for searching iron than most people.
Nice piece of shoe buckle and great looking buttons.
great finds 👍awesome site charlie😀great find on the lost home site😎
This Mattel deactor how company brand and Wich rate matel dector reply me sir
So a piece of escutcheon causes me to wonder. Did it break off in use or was the piece of furniture abandoned and rotted away with the house as it returned to nature. how much work must it have been to haul a piece of furniture that far from anywhere. what drawer did it one attach too and who kept what in it? so many things to contemplate on a Not Thursday
that flower button is doubt from a woman...it would be interesting to find out on the construction of that button...was it painted onto glass and mounted paint side down?
What kind of digging shovel are you using? I'd like to get one. Thanks
Another successful hole hunt!! Well done DC!!
They dug those holes to back the wagon or truck into them so they could load the logs on to them...
Fancy cuff link or button more fancy buttons well played Charlie looks like a nice bunch of history!!!; )

Interested in where this site fits on your map!! Indeed if no bricks very early😃 very cool etching on the escutcheon!!! Buttons were excellent 👍👍👍 Love NT!!!
Those jagged nipple buttons are interesting for sure. Never saw that style before.
Amazing finds Charlie. The buttons looked so different from what you normally find. Can you give a bit of followup if you find out more about them? I know folks might think the flower button came from a ladies attire, but in truth men wore just as fancy apparel and sometimes fancier than the women in those days. For instance, President George Washington had a three piece pink linen suit, that included frock coat, waist coat, and knee breeches, finished off with frilled white linen shirt, cravat, and fancy buttons. The British made fun of him and called him a Macaroni, (or so legend has it), for he was very fashionable and much like the tune, "Yankee Doodle went to town riding on a pony stuck a feather in his hat and called it Macaroni." Now I have never been clear here from this sentence, was it his horse he called Macaroni or was it his hat?! ha ha ha Anyway, this was really great and I'm glad your perseverance paid off.
Here's a link to what Macaroni's were. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaroni_(fashion) Wouldn't it be a hoot if you came across the homestead of a fellow who was a Macaroni wannabe?! LOL
👍👏🙋
Wow some really cool looking buttons you found. Great hunt & adventure my friend 👍🏼 GL&HH on your next one 🍀
Really, Charlie? "Gonna slow my pace - in a hurry". Great show. Loved that glass cufflink. Looked like a bit of pink in crystal.
Nice site you found Charlie, very cool and different buttons you found at this site !! Thanks for taking us along! LFOD !!
Hi Charlie,
Definitely worth the hikes to find a new home site,
Great finds to,
Love the button with the red flower on it and those other buttons, all so pretty.
Would love to see the flower button all cleaned up. ☺️👍🏻🥄
I'm always impressed at the lost home sites you manage to find. Watching all the videos you've uploaded really has me looking at the woods differently.
As for the brush pile...burn permit with a 4th of July get together?😂
Nice buttons Charlie. When you said it was an early spot, I was hoping for Spanish silver.
Really lovin the video quality..nice and clear!!! Also nice finds at that old site!!
Another quiet site🤔i suspect there could be others that think like you and wonder the woods for new locations..but having said that it could be ground conditions too.. maybe a little rain needs too fall. Gl and HH!
I am tickled that you run without headphones. To me I like hearing the signals! I run open as well.
