Boating is the best family time. I built our bowrider during our 3 year of marriage , best choice I made . Now kids are grown 1 in college and 1 in 12 grade . We still go out as much as we can. It's been a key feature to us all staying a tight family unit.
So tough getting these projects completed while trying to raise a family, do your day job and run a YT channel. Very pleased you got to experience the rewards of your hard labour. I have a young family and am suffering depression and unhappy thoughts but your video gives me hope.
I highly recommend purchasing all stand up specials by Louie C.K. on his self titled website. The bundle is currently discounted and its exactly what you need. :'D
For a moment, I thought you were going to explain to your viewers how to restore the fibreglass monohull boat into a "catamaran" hull. 😹 😉 Turnah81 taking things and stuff to the next level and never ceases to entertain and amaze me. P.S. "Craigo" may you, your family and friends, see smooth sailing in your brilliantly restored boat for many, many years.
4:19 you need side rollers. As long as it's sprung, you can use any skateboard soft durometer wheel. The idea is to force the boat to stick to one path. ALSO, your bottom rollers aren't properly matched to the boat you have. Too wide. Ideally, you should have progressive rollers. So the first one is wide, the next one narrower and so on until the rollers are just wide enough to not allow the boat from moving, but without lifting it off the roller's horizontal part.
I would actually even recommend having teflon runners instead of rollers, and fitting them on the trailer exact to the specs of your hull. Once we went to teflon, we never looked back
Just stumbled on this channel yesterday and I love it! You do the same kind of stuff I grew up doing and still do. I like the high production quality you achieve without losing the do it yourself in your garage feel. A lot of channels start out that way but eventually lose touch with where the channel started.
When I was a teenager my family owned and sailed an old wooden boat whose bottom was quite rotten, which we ignored. It never let us down (ie sank) and we left this problem for the next owner. Miss her.
I love seeing old machines restored to use rather than discarded. It doesn't have to be showroom condition, just working and in use again. Nice job and a few good laffs.
My Master Craft boat sits on a trailer that has NO center rollers. Get rid of the V rollers then you will need to fabricate new board runners that match the steps on the bottom of the boat. Great video, and I wish youband your family many, many happy and safely boating hours to come!!! 💪🏼🔥🔥🔥🤣🙏🏻👍🏻
Very entertaining. Re the boat running off the trailer rollers, you can mount rollers either side of the existing rollers on an angle to match the angle of the hull.
Craig, here's the best advice I have ever given you- WATER UP TO YOUR TAILPIPE, WHEN LAUNCHING A BOAT. If you don't go in deep enough, your going to pop that beautiful hull you just refurbished. You won't have to worry about beating up the hull, if it's floating when you hitch the winch closed. IOW, quite being a big wanka, and gicha feet wet. The boat will thank you.
I used to repair boats. Here's a couple of ways to alter (fix) your trailer problem. #1) Use a fabric strap to suspend the boat. (You'll have to prevent the strap from going back and forth). #2) Make a fiberglass female section (mold) of your hull. You'd need a couple sections. Much like above, but with fiberglass. Have some totally synthetic low pyle on the portions touching your hull.
Ah yes, fiberglass....I work at a hockey stick manufacturing plant in Brantford Ontario, and of course being hockey sticks, they're held together with lots of fiberglass. Basically the same cloth you used on the boat. I'm now the shipper receiver there, but I used to be the un-lucky one who had to sand off the excess fiberglass...So I definitely get where you're coming from with working on it in a confined space..The worst..and don't even get me started on goalie sticks...Anyway, sorry for the long comment. Glad to see you're posting again. Cheers from Canada!
"More like what your knees do...." I did that at the age of 14. I'm 67 now and I still have the scars on both knees. Thanks for the memories. Nice boat BTW.
Damnit Turnah!!!! You need to get me a new monitor!!! I spewed Dr. Pepper all over it with the "I'll explain how it works here" statement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Video!
Pretty good stuff. Pro tip (and only the tip) for working with fiberglass. Apply baby powder to any exposed skin before handling, and use panty hose to pull the fibers out after handling. The baby powder helps seal your pores and makes you look like an albino when applied properly. The super fine mesh of the women's leggings grabs the fibers from your pores and makes you look like some creep. A creep that doesn't itch!
You know, thanks making these videos. I know that life is busy and I’m sure it’s a pain to make them, but I really get a kick out of them! Cheers from Seattle.. I just got out of bed, so I’m going to have a beer for you!
Looks good, just replaced the transom in my fiberform. Couple of fiberglass tips -lay open a plastic drop cloth and wet out the fiberglass on the plastic before applying it to the boat, you won’t have to wet it out on the boat -use a slow cure epoxy, it’s as strong as the resin and has far less fumes -gelcoat WILL stick to epoxy, just make sure you clean the surface to get all the surface chemicals off of it before applying more layers and gelcoat
Not sure if there's anything you can do about it, but this didn't show up in my subscription feed, may be happening for others too. Glad to see another video, always good for a laugh!
In the video of you guys swimming the water looks so nice. I seriously wish i could be in such a nice place, but I know I will never be in the ocean. It sucks.. You are very very lucky..
Enjoyed this a lot, currently busy with the same process, did a whole rebuild on a Yamaha 115 yesterday. Its a lot of hard work, but completely worth it
I know you have a real job, but it's been SIX months! We were so happy to see a new video from you! Great job on the restoration. And where is that amazingly beautiful water that you were on at the end? What a gorgeous place.
The only downside to few videos is the god awful algorithm. This came out a week ago. Guess when it hit my recommendations/channel update list? That's right, thirty seconds ago. And yes, I could click the bell, but ffs, why should an AI be second guessing my choice to sub in the first place?
Marine carpet on the rollers (attach with screws and add carpet on top of the holes). Also buy more and/or move your rollers if not properly lifting the boat. I also love to have 2 post on the side of the trailer so it is easy to perfectly get the boat on the trailer. We use swimming pool noddle foams on the metal post to prevent any damage.
More rollers on the trailer to stop the keel cracking and when fibreglassing ,keep a old esky in the workshop with ice to cool half your mixture to slow it going off.
I had the same problem with the keel scraping on the trailer. I had to add extra carpeted two by fours, in the US We call them bunks. so then I had a total of four of them two on each side I raised them up higher than the previous ones so that the keel doesn’t touch the rollers anymore, and is only supported by the carpeted two by fours, that completely solved the issue for me. I know this comment is over a year late but hopefully it helps somebody.
Great to see a new upload from you Turnah, very fun as usual. Drone footage of where you're boating shows off how beautiful the waters are there. Noice!
Maybe get rollers for the trailer that are better suited for your boat? Their flat middle section doesn’t seem to match up with the more pointy bow and underside of your boat. I remember our old 4-person sailing boat having a trailer with flexible rollers more to the side so that a very pointy bow could be placed on it.
I'd much rather have fewer quality videos than many mediocre ones. You always take the time to crafts both these videos and your projects
I can't put into words how good these videos are. Hilarious and informative is an understatement.
Hey cheers mate for the kind words. Video update: Finally fixed my boat trailer issue on the weekend😁
Truly epic restoration!
I tip my hat to all the gentleman that made this restoration possible. 🎩@15:18
I love your presentation style! Glad to see you are still getting out of doing the dishes with random “work” 😂 Looking forward to the next one.
IF he really was forced to do the dishes, he'd probably build a home made dishwasher :)
It doesn't matter what the content is, you always make it fun to watch.
Bonus points for the paper clip cotter pin.
I was literally thinking of your cat deterrent videos 15 minutes ago! How crazy. Nice to see a new video though! Thanks!
maybe you should have been thinking of a different word that "literally" to overuse
@@L_Train I’m literally thanking you for that comment!!

Your son clearly has inherited some of your humour and style.👍
It feels like ages after coming back to this channel, Miss the Cat Repellant Series.

17:06 that shark in the water knows what Turnah81's repair jobs are like, that's why its following thinking its just a matter of time.
Great job. Apparently ANY video you make on virtually any subject is very entertaining. Keep it up!
Glad to see you back. 🤙

This was a good watch, appreciate you, thanx.
There you are! We have missed you.
Another great video. Thoroughly enjoyed watching your restoration. Such, long tedious work. Great job!
Yes, new video
Side rollers to keep it aligned for such a large boat
You can get rollers that have a groove in them to help the boat to self center. That might help you
The 'Set it on fire' gag got me good, mate!
Glad you're back on the Air, Missed the fun & laughs.
Love the humour and well done on the repairs. How on earth you know how to do this stuff is amazing, I would never tackle something like this.
Never a dull moment with you, is there?
Great vid as always.
Beautiful work man, can't beat that feeling watching the kids splash around at the back of Garden Island (or any of them).
I love your sense of humor, Craig!

I referred an old boat years ago, and felt your pain while watching this.
Awesome job.
Very entertaining.

Nice Classic Boat with new fresh Grunt. Well worth it.
your dad did a execelent job on the alloy backboard , looks good enough for the motor
Love your videos. Love your comedic timing and content.
@4:17 could you jerry-rig a wider roller to prevent the boat from coming off?
Nice work, i'm struggling through my own boat rebuild at the moment. It's like opening up a can of live worms.

good work there craig. interesting vid with some classic sandgroper humour.

After looking at my slightly neglected boat and trailer, then watching your video. I went out and bought new ones
Well this calls for celebration 🍻 . Another great contract completed.
Awesome restoration 😆🤘

Try putting the trailer further in the water when loading and unloading the boat will be much easier on the underside
It must be 2022! A video from Turnah!!
Your Back !!! GREAT STUFF , Quebec Canada missed you !!
Is it my eyes or have you named it "Bowt Dawg" in memory of the time you had to walk it back to shore on a lead 🤣
Good na Great to see you back. Yaaaaay! The water looked amazing 💗
You should check the oiler linkage on the motor. there is a nylon coupling which very often breaks and can ruin the motor
Good old Shoalwater and Safety Bay. Aren't we lucky?
Nice work on the boat btw.
Good job~
Smart to put some metal near the lights on the trailer.
So many trailer tail lights perish, haha~
Try a centering roller or a set of rollers in a V config.
I do love watching these, just need a little more content but great vids😊

i used to build the ginormous fiberglass wind turbine blades. Oh the horrors of resin and glass!!! Great job
Every time you bring out a video its both entertaining and funny always worth the wait see your next one in a few months time

Great Australian comedy, even if it is from the west. Keep it up. Cheers

Yeaaaaaaah Boats... ... yup, nailed it. Well Done Turnah!

Possibly more professional than what some boat shops might have done, and likely WAY cheaper.
Return of the King
Now that is a nice engine cover.
great jokes
finger glass splinters are hilarious
Great stuff. You look a bit like Damien Oliver, but a better version.
Glad you're back! Good stuff on the boat restoration!
15:21 Dick Johnson helping with the build, this thing will fly !
I know you have a real job, but it's been SIX months! We were so happy to see a new video from you! Great job on the restoration. And where is that amazingly beautiful water that you were on at the end? What a gorgeous place.
A day on the water with the family and without any drama’s is the best. Keelshield keel guard would help to prevent damage to the bottom.

Get rid of the rollers and get carpet covered wood bunks. Boat will center better and no risk of it rolling off trailer when launching
Congrats on getting Dawg in the H2O......missed you and hopefully you fared well during the strangeness of the past 2 years.

Always good to see a video from you Craig. Love your crass sense of humor - "and the boat did a wee wee" haha :)
Good that you can get it back to the water so you can get the cat smell off of it.
"I guess my daddy's been doing more grass" lol !
So jealous. Well done
I have been checking back weekly since the hidden bar for more cat repellent videos, and i will continue to do this for a long while
This gives me confidence that my meticulously maintained 25yr old bass boat still has plenty of life in it.
👍 I had this in 25knots the other day with big swell. Very wet ride but it's still holding up so far. Cheers
