This is one of my favorite videos ever. Benny Greb is literally the perfect drummer. Amazing touch and feel, never overdone or not enough. No worry of technical flashiness or applicability, just serving the music.
Benny is just so brilliantly musical...he has all the chops to a 10 if he wants to use it ...but chooses to not too all the time ..his less chops at times is more ...but when benny cuts loose ...its still done with precision and with great emotion ...
The description says that hi-hat is: 14” Byzance Sand hat (bottom used on top of the Filter China), 14” Byzance Sand hat (top). But, for me, he used three cymbals. I had this impression.
I could listen to this rim click for days. Could someone please make a metronome app with this sound? Benny's step hihat as the upbeats would also do perfect.
I think it was a leading left hand double strokes and an accented single stroke on the 5th strokes on the tom continued with 6 strokes roll on the snare and floor tom. Double sixtuplets I guess?
2 years late for your comment lol. But part of it comes from a 6 stroke roll RllrrL RllKrr (crash) Basically a 6 stroke roll but in the 2nd sequence, he replaces the rrL with Krr. He sorta just moves the rr forward with a kick
