  • Introducing my hand-made, custom-built Neo Geo AES Mini Console! This compact marvel takes cartridges and is powered by a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. Each cartridge uses an NFC tag to load games seamlessly, while the custom UI, coded in Python with Pygame, ensures a smooth and immersive experience. Emulation runs at 100% speed with zero slowdown. For easier wiring, I designed a custom mainboard.
For added nostalgia, I created custom packaging to recreate the joy of opening a new console, just like in the old days. The cartridges are stored in audio cassette cases, adding to the 90's vibe that fits the Neo Geo so well!
    Key Features:
    NFC-Enabled Cartridges: Load games effortlessly.
Custom UI: Developed in Python using Pygame.
Flawless Emulation: Enjoy games at full speed with no lag.
Enhanced Connectivity: Second USB port added for two-player gaming.
Versatile Storage: Memory card slot accepts microSD cards for different operating systems.
Please note, this console is handmade and part of my personal collection. I do not take orders to build these.
If you enjoyed this video, please like and subscribe! I'll be uploading more videos showcasing my custom mini consoles and sharing insights into my building process.

Very nice! They should've offered something like that instead of their official and sadly quite disfunctiunal Neo Geo Mini toy arcades (not the great Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro, that's actually a good product)! What's inside? Maybe a Raspberry Pi?

Thank you! Yes the mini arcade things didn’t do it for me. I just didn’t have much nostalgia for them. Its powered by a raspberry pi zero 2 mounted to a custom mainboard to make the build easy and to add the extra usb ports. NFC reader for the cartridges

That's a really nice project! I did a lazy one with the Neo Geo X dock when they were around for cheap. Yours is wayyy nicer!

Thank you so much! The neo geo X to me was a very cool system! I sadly wasn’t able to pick one up at launch though so the prices are a bit out of my range

Well done, this is exactly what SNK should have manufactured instead of their mini cabs !
I have a couple of questions:
    - Did you use UV printing or stickers ?
    - How did you manage to build the cartonbox inlay ?
    - will you share the plans and code so that we can build our own too ? :)
    Congrats man, you rock !

Hi! I'll do my best to answer these : )
      1. I used a special type of sticker called a DTF sticker. It is not like a water slide decal or a normal sticker. It essentially has tape on both sides of the sticker. You first apply one side of the sticker, and then you remove the tape from the back of the sticker. This leaves a sticker with nothing that you have to trim or blend in.
      2. Hand cut the base of it. Then I made a test version of it with handcut pieces to get the layout. After I had the layout, I redesigned the pieces in cad that hold the various components of the console in place and 3d printed them. Then I glued them to the base.
      3. My plan is to help people create their own mini consoles. I am going to create videos of me going through the whole process in the near future and will release template based generic code and plans that people can modify to create their own consoles. Essentially I'll release resources that are for a generic, non-brand specific mini console that shares all the same technical features as this build and can be easily modified.
      Thanks again for the compliment!

Im sorry but I don’t have time to make them. I think there is another guy on instagram who makes a similar unit allthough there are some differences than mine in how it functions. If you are a DIY kind of person I plan on posting very detailed videos on how to make your own. It makes for a great little project!
