Customizing a FMS Chevy K10 RC Crawler with a Custom Designed and 3D Printed Bed Cap

- Over the past few months FMS has sent a variety of their highly detailed 1/18 scale RTR RC crawlers for review. I've been very impressed by each of these vehicles and knew right away I wanted to design a variety of accessories for them. These will help make them my own and allow you all to customize your rigs as well. The first parts I decided to tackle was a bed cap. Also known as a camper shell or bed cab, for years these have a been a popular full scale accessory for real pickups, so it makes sense to recreate one in 1/18 scale. I had a lot of fun designing this piece, and although a few tweaks need to be made, it turned out awesome! Stay tuned for an update on this part, and more accessories being designed.

A tonneau cover would be a cool design too, both the solid, and jointed one
That turned out great. I wish I had a dollar for every mile I spent in one of these over summers as a kid.
Lots of people want to lift them. Some use a very big body lift, but others move the shock location to lift them. I personally redid all my suspension to lift it for bigger tires. Maybe design something bolt in to lift it, but keep the wheels centered and pumpkins clocked correctly.

Prototype looks really good. In addition to the changes you've mentioned, I would suggest making the front match the angle of the back of the cab. I agree that making a squared off recess for the side windows would be more user friendly.
I'd love to see a RV camper accessory for the K10!

How about a m1008 cucv style front bumper and/or bumper guard for the k10? I’ve been wanting to make one for mine but my 3d design skills aren’t the best and I’d like to see where you could go with that idea!
Folding mirrors, the stock ones break immediately!
I have yet to see any fender flares like bushwacker.

I've been a subscriber for a few years now; I really enjoy watching your channel. Anyway, I'm going to attempt to convert a 1/18 die cast model to RC and I was wondering if you could offer some recommendations for Tx, Rx, ESC, motor and battery. The project car is a 2001 Crown Vic police car that will be a gift for an old buddy who is recovering from a serious illness. I'm hoping to fit the electronics in the trunk and under the hood and leave the interior intact - so the smaller the better. For instance many of the Rx's in my 1/10 scale rigs are way too big for this project. Anyway, I could use some help. thanks so much!!

Yes. Also when you peel off the Glacier emblem on the tailgate, you'll see "C H E V R O L E T" embedded in it.
Get the LC80 metal gears asap. Then metal trans gears and all metal servo. IMO also swap out the electronics for something more hobby scale.
I have the same truck any chance you can make one for me obviously I will pay you for it
