It is amazing that the EV community is making battery pack upgrade easier 👍. It is also very disappointing that the OEMs did not voluntarily do this development. That should have been part of the business strategy behind the roll out of EVs. The EV early adopters paid a premium over fossil cars. The affordable cars such as the Leaf and iMIEV started with small battery pack to keep costs down. The OEMs should have had a policy of upgrading the battery pack at the end of the lease or when a car that had been purchased was part exchanged. The early adopters should have been offered a discount on battery pack upgrade as part of the research and development budget. That would have enhanced the experience of the early adopters while it enhanced the reputation of the brand. It would also have made used EVs available with a better range.
Wow. This is amazing. I haven't even replaced my ZE0's 24kWh battery yet (it's still at 70% SOH,) and had only considered swapping in the 160kW motor for faster launch. This would make it super easy. On the other hand, maybe I'll keep as many original parts as I can; it's an SL, with CHAdeMO from the factory. It was a dealer tester, and I think they put all the bells and whistles on it so people could see what was possible. Sometime next year, I'm planning to buy a 62 kWh battery and get some help having it installed (with a CAN bridge, of course.) Which will make it a dozen-year-old EV with Tesla-3 range!
That’s why we like to work with Jim in the Tesla context so much. Your video’s guide me personally to purchase a leaf 1 myself to offer that enhancement services here in Germany as well.😉 🇫🇮
Jim has probably saved people so much money by being able to reset DTCs, inspect batteries before purchase, pair in new battery packs, and now pair in inverters, that it's just impossible to imagine a world without LeafSpy!
i hope leafspy gets upgraded to have regen control options, i hate the limit my leaf has especially in cold weather. id be nice to coast down a hill and get a full output recharge to the battery.
Yes please! The car is trying to self destroy its battery anyway by the way Nissan designed it. So actually being able to region a little better can’t hurt it any worse. I have like two or three bars left on the second battery I put in.
Why don't we get updates for the pro version sold through amazon app store? See my reply above... I've had and used the pro version for years. No updates for amazon app version innlast 2 years or so. It's not even compatible with my galaxy s22 ultra now and i literally don't have access to this app anymore because it's outdated. Also it lacked all features added in last 2 years
Only way so far is to install a healthier main battery that allows for more regen. Old batteries with low SOH% have high internal resistance, so it makes sense to limit regen if your battery is in bad shape.
Oh wow its public now :) thanks Jim and Dala. Just about to swap my 160kw inverter in. What rims and tyres are you putting on? Apparently leaf wheel wells are huge so going wide is easy.
You sir and others like you are such an invaluable asset to the EV community🙏 thank you!!! Question: is cruise control on the leaf can-bridge messaging?? The reason I ask is that the leaf speed is controlled by "wire" in all actuality it's a potentiometer of sorts in the go pedal.? Now hear me out 😅 based off personal experience and your own personal hyper mile video. A driver should use terrain to ones advantage; but due to the cruise control simply being based off MPH/KPH the car gets pathetic range. What if we could change the speed messaging to power ban / Kw settings. Thus cruise control is now WAY more efficient, true it'll lead to "speed" variations BUT that's not our primary care.? Maybe 🤔???
Just use a N mode, this is what i do. I was thinking how to do so, got same thouths what its simply too comlicated to do, as well its a risk factor. Who will gonna pay for your ticket? Can-module developer can be not too happy about it...

@@DalasEVRepair thing is where I live it is hilly and when I was at lower speeds and regened it added miles to the guesometer. Dear Dala. I have a Leaf Tekna 62 kWh 2020 from new. I have only done 3000 kms. I purchased a Leaf Spy dongle and downloaded Leaf Spy Lite. My SOH say 91.8%. I only ever charge at home. Is this normal for the battery?
Only 3000km 2 years? Remember that SOH is an estimation, maybe because the car has been sitting much it reports lower. Try quickcharging it a bit and properly use it, this would make the SOH go up on older LEAFs. Incase the battery has been sitting fully charged for extended periods of time, this will also degrade the battery faster. But most likely this is normal due to low usage.
