I have an older Thunder 380. I can’t even remember how many years. It has been very reliable for me, although some years ago I had to replace the magazine. This is such an easy shooting , accurate and reliable gun. I own some other much more expensive semi and revolver pistols but this one is one of my favorites. Thank you for an excellent video.
Thanks for taking the time out to watch and comment. What you say is true regarding early capacities. I try for the 8-rounders whenever I can find them.
That is very good to know I still plan on probably doing the double stack combat plus just because it's really not that much wider and I got fairly big hands and figure hey double the ammo double the fun double the double mint gum
Very good review… I’ve bought one of these twice… the first one I bought almost 20 years ago and had it for a couple years, then I sold it to buy a different gun , then I missed it and bought another one just like it a few years later and I won’t be getting rid of this one! They are not only great guns for the price but they are great guns in general! I’ve never had either of mine malfunction through hundreds of rounds. I trust it with my life
Thanks for watching and commenting. Both keep the channel going and growing. I had two and then traded one...for the Thunder 380+ double stack. No regrets at all with either.
1 thing you could always do is sell the single stack and then get then get the combat plus which seems to have been smoothed out a tad and has doubled capacity. I sat this as a fan of single stack guns just fyi
i Have a Bersa 380cc and a Bersa TRP45c. My wife has two Bersa Handguns 380cc and Thunder 380. We run Underwood Xtreme Defense. No malfunctions. We love them.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I was skeptical of Bersa firearms at first. Like a Glock, it took some time to handle and shoot them in order to appreciate them.
I was looking at a 380CC but was reading some reviews about "The rim of the last round would be held in place by the feed lips, and the round itself would be vertical into the action, fouling it." Has this happened with yours?
Thanks for a very thorough review. I moved away from striker fire to hammer fire primarily for safety reasons. I was looking for a BUG with the same DA/SA decocker set up as my HK P30s and was originally looking at the PPK. After checking out as many reviews as i could find, I decided on the Bersa. Glad I did, this has proven to be a great firearm. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and commenting. After I bought my first Bersa, a Thunder 45 UC, I had to say that their quality was definitely worth the price. Two 9mm pistols and two 380 pistols later, I still feel the same way. With a number of striker and hammer pistols, I like hammers overall. There is just something about seeing that hammer work when you pull the trigger that warms the cockles of my heart.😁
One cool thing about older bersa thunder 380s (idk if new ones do it) is if you slap the bottom of the mag to make sure it’s seated or insert very firmly the slide will release. Makes them very fast to load
Mis saludos y respeto desde Argentina! Exelente video! Claramente presentada y explicado su funcionamiento! Soy poseedor de una, y me resulta una gran arma! Gracias por mostrarla! Un gran abrazo desde Argentina!
Muchas gracias por vernos y por tu comentario. Agradezco a ambos. La Bersa 380 es una pistola muy fina y una de mis favoritas, al igual que la Bersa 380 Plus. Por favor, disculpen mi español, ya que no es mi lengua materna.
I have earned a lot of admiration and respect for Argentina lately! Javier Milei looks to be doing great things for your country. Best regards from here in the US!
I actually bought one out of jealousy 😂 my buddy has one and I always ask him if I can fire off a mag or two at the range. I always assumed it was somewhat expensive, based on its performance so I didn’t really look into getting one. But I finally said “ugh I’ll just do it so I don’t have to keep asking” and then saw it was ONLY $270?! Bought it in a heartbeat 😂 waiting period ends tomorrow, and I’m so excited to pick it up (and spend all the cash I saved on ammo lol)
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I hope you enjoy your new Bersa! You may find the safety/de-cocker stiff when new, but maybe not. If it is a bit stiff, a slight oiling and moving the lever up and down a little while will free things up a bit. After that, normal operation of the lever will smooth it out more. I hope that your first range day goes well.😁
One nice thing with the safety/decock. In the safe position a magazine may be loaded and the slide cycled, loading a round, without cocking the hammer.
Only Bersa Firestorm available in CA. I have it. Having small hands I love it more than my Beretta fs92, Sig sauer. Firestorm fits my hands perfectly, I shoot better with it, even with 1 hand 😊 . LOVE it dearly.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the review and comment. I think that you have a good pistol, and I won't tell anyone in California that you have it, if you don't. There is nothing wrong with the Bersa Firestorm. Plus, I believe that yours does not have the side key-lock safety feature. No worry about loosing that flipping key there!
It was my first pistol after I got my pistol permit 12 years ago. It has been very reliable and accurate. However, ammo can affect my accuracy with it. I suspect that if you tried different types of ammo, your groups would have been better. My Bersa likes Hornaday. Although I have purchased other handguns that I carry more often, I won't get rid of the 380 Thunder in case one of my primary pistols goes down. Plus, I love the DA/SA trigger. I wish more compact size 9mm came that way. SIG P226 and Beretta PX4 or 92F are just too large for me to carry comfortably concealed at my office.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. If you like Bersa, with its hammer-fired DA/SA system, and are looking for a compact 9mm with a 13-round capacity, you might want to check out the TPR9C - www.bersa.com/products/tpr9cm. I have its predecessor, the Thunder9 Ultra Compact Pro. I have a review of the Thunder9 Ultra Compact Pro, but it will not be available until May 12th. The TPR9C seems to be, by all indications, an excellent, perfectly reliable handgun for the budget minded. It is just an updated version of the Thunder9 Ultra Compact Pro. There is also the CZ 75 D PCR , a compact CZ75 with DA/SA and de-cocker (cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-d-pcr-compact/). I have one and favor it over the Bersa, although it does not have ambidextrous controls. I will do a review it at some point, but I am not there yet.
My Bersa TPR9C or Thunder Pro Redesign 9mm Compact is my favorite sub compact. Sweet trigger in both DA and SA. Still flawless and accurate after over 600 rounds of all kinds of ammo. My dislikes that I can live with are a polygonal barrel, safety lock, and firing pin take down. Other than those things its been a great pistol. It does not have a mag disconnect like the Thunder. I have as yet not been able to find any machine tool marks on the pistol so I know it was hand fitted. Bersa guns are very underrated. A company founded on former Beretta engineering. Slogan: Bersa You Can Trust. I have a Galco leather IWB Stow N Go STO 286 holster that works for both my TPR9C and my Taurus G2c. Some holsters like the Galco I like that can double or triple duty. However for my SIG P365 I prefer a tight fitting stand alone retention pistol specific Kusiak leather IWB signature minimalist. That was a lot of words. Haha. I have a Bulldog leather medium slide holster for OWB that will fit all three. Two sub compacts and a micro.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment - sometimes I don't get notified. When I first bought a Bersa, handled and shot it, I felt that they were under-rated.
I was gun shopping online before I watched your review. I found one of these bersa thunder 380s. I have always been a huge fan of the Walther ppk. Not due to James Bond but due to its history it's extremely long life and perfect engineering. It's just an impressive side arm and it's continued production proves it. However I'm not a rich man right now I'm starting a new life working for myself and I stumbled on one for a good cheap price I couldn't believe it. Of course this gun is not made with the same shall you say over engineering the Germans are known for but that's not a problem at all! It's an amazing design that has just been done in a cost effective way! I hope I win my bid and wish me luck. Maybe if the Germans wouldn't have been so frugal during the war and simplified it's war industry to what's proven to work instead of constantly trying to build massive underground bunkers planes they would never use and gargantuan tanks that are impressive yet damn near useless when you have no fuel. Then things would have been a lot different during that war. Thank you so much for a fantastic review. Honestly hands down the best gun review iv seen. I enjoy your old timer's knowledge and voice Frankly. It reminds me of the men I grew up around and looked up to.
I appreciate your watching and commenting. Both help me keep the channel going and growing. Good luck on your bidding. If you win, you will be getting a very nice pistol for the money. Bersa, in case I didn't mention it during the review began with the help of an engineer from Beretta, and his knowledge and skill was carried over to Bersa. I have several Bersa pistols in calibers of 9mm and .45ACP. I carried the Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact for quite a few years. In fact, the Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact is what started the Bersa journey. A weighty little beast at 27-ounces, and as wide as a Glock G26, the Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact was all I could afford at the time. All of my Bersa pistols are extremely reliable. You may also want to check out the Thunder 380 Plus, a 15-round version double-stack. A bit thicker in the grip but an excellent performer. You can check out the review video on the 380 Plus at ruclips.net/video/rhouC53hOCk/видео.html. Again. Thanks for watching and I hope you become the proud owner of the Thunder 380.
@justsomeguy9234 You may or may not notice the longer beaver tail improvement on the Thunder that the PPK does not have. I have heard a number of folks complain about the slide and hammer bite of the PPK but not from the Thunder.
@@rbm6184 You are correct about the beaver tail on the PPK. It has bitten me, as well. The only Bersa that has bitten me has been the Thunder 45 UC. I started wearing a shooting glove when I shot that one.
RIA created a new .380 pistol called Lightning 380 (Li380). They say it takes bersa thunder mags as its supposed to be their bersa thunder copy. Maybe you can also review that one. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching. If I can get one in my hot old hands, I will review it. It has a lesser MSRP than I expected. Right now, they seem to be out of stock at multiple resource. I have clicked that "Notify me when in stock" button at several sites. If you find one available, please let me know. Thanks.
Good to see you again. Thanks for watching. Be sure to check out the Bersa Thunder 380+ before you make a decision. Link to that review is in the description.
Ive been eyeing one of these for a while. Theres one at my local shop for sub 275. Definitely catches my eye over the Walther if for no other reason but price
Thanks for watching and commenting. I think that you would really like the Bersa 380; it's reliable and accurate. I favor it over the Walther, as it feels good in the hand. Magazines are a little pricey, but what isn't these day. In a good pocket holster, it just hides away nicely. The de-cocking safety is nice, but takes a while to break-in; carry condition 2 safely. Indulge yourself and let me know how you like it.
Well on my second rewatch you basically address the main issue with my walther PPK22 is I mean I didn't do anything wrong I've been practicing my draw not dryfiring it but bringing the hammer back and just practicing with do you know my fingerprint on a gun that's fairly skinny and small to me and Doing it with an empty magazine blah blah blah but the decker always felt very rough and heavy and like it was like wearing where the the safety and fire indicator is a bit too much For a very short amount of time so I think I think I got a lemon in terms of the pc of steel used for the safety decor but all that said I plan on doing basically what you suggested at the beginning of the video I haven't gotten gotten into fire too many classic pistols or pistols based off classic designs outside of the 1911 so it was really interesting learning the engine outs of the Walter PPK which I've always wanted 1 I'm really glad I got 1 in 22 I'm gonna have a single malt function CCI mini mac 11 function I was literally shocked by that I thought for sure I would have something in hundreds of round It seems pretty obvious to me that the thing it was tempered very well so I'm hoping that's not gonna be a continued issue with my Walter PPK22 cause I was really stoked I'm getting 122 cause it's very cheap shooting and then I started looking more at the 1st as I figured well hey If I have this Walter PPK22 maybe I'll wanna carry something very similar that can probably share a lot of magazines or not magazines excuse me holsters and The felt on that was I was feeling Double action on my HK a few weeks later and It was like a breeze Again I'm sorry about the way this message is being delivered I'm using talk to text and it's not getting everything right and I really don't have any other options if any of all so sorry about that
And to continue... The safety lever on both the single-stack and double-stack model are very stiff at first. And even after wearing in a bit, can be contentious to move from one position to the other. When I carry them, they are usually in double-action mode. And not to worry about your mode of delivering comments. I pretty much, kinda sorta, made it through.
This is what I think I’m gonna get my girlfriend people talk smack on .380 but any chunk of metal entering your body hurts like hell I’d rather the Gun be more comfortable for her to shoot so she’s confident in dumping a mag into someone who deserves it
Thanks for watching, and for your comment. Shot placement is king, no doubt. After that, science takes over. Once she trains through that heavy first shot in double-action mode, she'll probably be just fine.
I'm personally going for the thunder combat plus unless I'm giving a damn good reason or I can find a damn good reason to go for the single stack not that I have anything against single stacks because 1 of my favorite carry guns which unfortunately he's getting repaired but it stills 1 of my favorites is the Walter PPKS22 lr. Which actor quite a bit of extensive testing on various animals it various things in religious needing to do some basic math and consider very basic ideologies that I have the alter 22 is really more than enough for the vast vast majority of the scenario that said I have an HKP30 out of the 33 Ish pistols I found an operating I gotta say outside of MK23 or USPS I think that MK23 probably I probably the only Things that are close to = I mean there are some great cigs in beretta CC Walters blah blah blah I prefer a metal gun I prefer 1911 or 2011 but I go with what works the best in the best for me in particular so I found it on combo of the HKP30L30PK22 and getting a birth of thunder or thunder combat plus it's very likely it lands on 1 of thoseSorry for the badge spelling and all that I'm using the talk detect feature so yeah Was brittleless I mean you could see a brittle a metal was a I'm getting ahead of myself it's napped in broke and that's leaving the bar that preventing the hammer hitting the firing pin to just be stuck And having as many pistols I had I have certainly had to send off the basically any major brand name military grade pistol is had to go out or get repaired on something At some point Something I may marry something I may or may not have missed in the video is 1 reason Versa is able to save so much money is they use and add nice aluminum Pc of metal for the for the feed ramp which means you're good to go on most ammo the mass majority hammo but steal Kay Samoa you do not want to use that that's 1 thing I'm pretty sure I'm correct I'm crazy material is safe from the bills of steal they used to manufacture the Barrel Apparently held a lot of material to do a barrel that has A feed ramp that Is essential essentially made from the same build a steel in it forging process I don't quite understand yet I will say this having again just about every major military grade pistol and some form or another the HKP30P30 way the hell up there that also said I've been looking for a pistol that could mimic the DSLASAP feature of say like a sig P26 not even a short reset trigger function necessarily when I was looking at the 1st under the combat plus the DASA switch Look very smooth and seems very smooth and for something that's you know 48 is $70 more than the single stack gun you get twice the capacity All that said I am still not really out this single stack because I don't feel like I really need to carry the massive amount of ammo to me a massive amount really is like 15 rounds me more
Thanks for watching and commenting. Although quite non-succinct, I get your drift. I do favor the double-stack version over the single-stack, and I have a review on that one. One thing that will extend the life of the Bersa pistol, is to use snap caps when dry-firing. These keep from damaging the firing pin, firing pin stop, and firing pin channel. The second is to not shoot .380 ACP +P ammunition. I have found both the single-stack and double-stack models to be both accurate and reliable, given their not so stellar construction and materials.
The only real big issue with bersa is the slide peens easy is you don't take care of it. Take care of it and they usually have a life of about 10,000rd before major failures start to happen. I don't think I've ever heard of one lasting much more than that. Most people don't have the will or funds to jump into .380 to target shoot with anyway.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree with your assessment of slide peening. Keep good springs and no +p stuff helps immensely. Note also, even though there is a SAAMI spec for .380 ammunition, there is no spec for 380+P. Therefore, one must be careful in purchasing 380+P. In the Bersa 380 pistols, no Buffalo Bore stuff, please!
@@RangeRoninChronicles I have only about 1100rd of fmj and only use Remington Compact handgun HP and speer for defense. I just bought a slightly used one to replace my lcp max until I can get a g42 or 25 in my hand. I know they don't last forever so i had planned on staying away from +p in it anyway. Just wish I could find the combat model for cheap like the last one I had.
@@TwentyTwoSigma I totally understand. I have both the G42 and G25 and have posted reviews on them. Both are excellent with the G25 being G19-sized. I have five Bersa handguns (380, 380+, 9mm UC, and two 45 UCs). I carried one of the 45UCs for over a year. No issues with any of them. They do like to run wet. Do a search through my "Pistol Series" playlist to find reviews on the Glock G28, G42, and G25. I also have a 380 "shootout" video coming out between the three that might interest you. That review is coming out on May 5th so be sure to check in on that day. Again, thanks for watching and the conversation. I hope that you will stick with me as I make this journey of mine.
@@RangeRoninChronicles pretty set on the 25 since the 28 is known to have cycling issues unless you modify it a bit. Know it isn't %100 them all but a good many people are reporting issues out of it vs very few from the 25. Wouldn't mind a 42 one day for pocket carry but probably get the original LCP or thunder cc for that. The bersa is at least small enough to cc if you're wearing the right stuff, so it'll do for now.
@@TwentyTwoSigma I think that you will like the 25, since it is essentially a 19 chambered for 9mm short. Possibly a tad large for chambering the .380 ACP, but it sure shoots nice. Apparently, a whole lot of folks in the U.K. like it, but then again, since some countries don't allow military caliber NATO 9mm, I guess they have to.
Please do not listen to this man. Decocking the hammer by pulling the trigger and holding the hammer is dangerous. And doing this on a 1911 is just crazy.
Thanks for watching and commenting, although your comment is without merit. I believe that in the "Maintenance" section, I explained how to de-cock the pistol using the safety/de-cocking lever. De-cocking any pistol, or revolver for that matter, can be safely done using a two (or three) finger method while holding the hammer. In fact, this method has been used long before I, and possibly you, came along on single-action firearms like the 1911, Browning Hi-Power, CZ, and others to include single-action and double-action revolvers. There are many references available for performing the procedure, although some may differ slightly with my version. While I agree with you that de-cocking any firearm can be dangerous, the risks associated with doing so can be reduced greatly by using a proper procedure and paying due diligence to the safety aspect of doing so. Also, and as a matter of fact, even with an empty handgun using a proper de-cocking method can prevent possible damage to the firing pin and firing pin stop rather than pulling the trigger on an empty chamber that on some pistols (for example CZ, EAA, and some Springfield Armory XD series pistols ) can damage the firing pin stop over time and even the manufactures caution against prolonged dry-firing without using a snap cap or similar device. Before you complain, criticize, and condemn I suggest you check the facts. Another way to put this is to provide you with a couple of quotes; "If you have no will to change it, you have no right to criticize it." --Mark Twain, and "Criticism is a privilege that you earn--it shouldn't be your opening move in an interaction." --Malcolm Gladwell. From where I stand, you have not earned the right to criticize nor to imply that I am less than sane. Have a great day, sir. And, that was a good looking young 10-point buck you fed in one of your videos.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I guess pocket carry would pushing it, but it does carry well in the pocket - depending on the size of the pocket and holster selection. I have carried this one on several occasions, in the pocket, and in the DeSantis Nemesis.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment - sometimes I don't get notified. When I first bought a Bersa, handled and shot it, I felt that they were under-rated.
I’ve two, one in deluxe model and one in pink. Love then both and best budget gun out there.
I appreciate your watching and commenting. Both help the channel grow😁.
Enjoyed your review,very thorough,thanks
Thanks for the kudos, I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.
Bersa Thunder 380 pistols are now supplied with an 8 round flush fit magazine
Good review, thanks. I'm subscribed 😎
Thank you. I appreciate your watching, commenting, and subscribing!😁
You're the man
@@EMP-ECD Thank you, sir, I appreciate that!
Thanks.
Great review, thank for sharing….I’ll have check one out…
Good to see you again.
Well on my second rewatch you basically address the main issue with my walther PPK22 is I mean I didn't do anything wrong I've been practicing my draw not dryfiring it but bringing the hammer back and just practicing with do you know my fingerprint on a gun that's fairly skinny and small to me and Doing it with an empty magazine blah blah blah but the decker always felt very rough and heavy and like it was like wearing where the the safety and fire indicator is a bit too much For a very short amount of time so I think I think I got a lemon in terms of the pc of steel used for the safety decor but all that said I plan on doing basically what you suggested at the beginning of the video I haven't gotten gotten into fire too many classic pistols or pistols based off classic designs outside of the 1911 so it was really interesting learning the engine outs of the Walter PPK which I've always wanted 1 I'm really glad I got 1 in 22 I'm gonna have a single malt function CCI mini mac 11 function I was literally shocked by that I thought for sure I would have something in hundreds of round It seems pretty obvious to me that the thing it was tempered very well so I'm hoping that's not gonna be a continued issue with my Walter PPK22 cause I was really stoked I'm getting 122 cause it's very cheap shooting and then I started looking more at the 1st as I figured well hey If I have this Walter PPK22 maybe I'll wanna carry something very similar that can probably share a lot of magazines or not magazines excuse me holsters and The felt on that was I was feeling Double action on my HK a few weeks later and It was like a breeze
Again I'm sorry about the way this message is being delivered I'm using talk to text and it's not getting everything right and I really don't have any other options if any of all so sorry about that
And to continue...
Mine doesn't have the lock key 🗝️ 😊 feature awesome intro😊
I appreciate that you took the time to watch and comment.
Awesome review I have one great little pistol 😊 👍 I clicked the like and subscribe thank you 😊
Thank you for taking the time out to watch, like, and subscribe. I am glad that you liked the video.
Which actor quite a bit of extensive testing on various animals it various things in religious needing to do some basic math and consider very basic ideologies that I have the alter 22 is really more than enough for the vast vast majority of the scenario that said I have an HKP30 out of the 33 Ish pistols I found an operating I gotta say outside of MK23 or USPS I think that MK23 probably I probably the only Things that are close to = I mean there are some great cigs in beretta CC Walters blah blah blah I prefer a metal gun I prefer 1911 or 2011 but I go with what works the best in the best for me in particular so I found it on combo of the HKP30L30PK22 and getting a birth of thunder or thunder combat plus it's very likely it lands on 1 of thoseSorry for the badge spelling and all that I'm using the talk detect feature so yeah
Was brittleless I mean you could see a brittle a metal was a I'm getting ahead of myself it's napped in broke and that's leaving the bar that preventing the hammer hitting the firing pin to just be stuck And having as many pistols I had I have certainly had to send off the basically any major brand name military grade pistol is had to go out or get repaired on something At some point
Something I may marry something I may or may not have missed in the video is 1 reason Versa is able to save so much money is they use and add nice aluminum Pc of metal for the for the feed ramp which means you're good to go on most ammo the mass majority hammo but steal Kay Samoa you do not want to use that that's 1 thing I'm pretty sure I'm correct I'm crazy material is safe from the bills of steal they used to manufacture the Barrel Apparently held a lot of material to do a barrel that has A feed ramp that Is essential essentially made from the same build a steel in it forging process I don't quite understand yet I will say this having again just about every major military grade pistol and some form or another the HKP30P30 way the hell up there that also said I've been looking for a pistol that could mimic the DSLASAP feature of say like a sig P26 not even a short reset trigger function necessarily when I was looking at the 1st under the combat plus the DASA switch Look very smooth and seems very smooth and for something that's you know 48 is $70 more than the single stack gun you get twice the capacity All that said I am still not really out this single stack because I don't feel like I really need to carry the massive amount of ammo to me a massive amount really is like 15 rounds me more
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Review muito bom.
Obrigado. Fico feliz que tenha gostado.

Good morning crabbyturtle1594! Thanks for joining me again. Have a great day!
I carry one...i know that voice.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Who's voice? My voice? Y' just never know; we might have met somewhere, sometime in the past.😁
Bersa is a great gun but it is not a pocket gun.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I guess pocket carry would pushing it, but it does carry well in the pocket - depending on the size of the pocket and holster selection. I have carried this one on several occasions, in the pocket, and in the DeSantis Nemesis.
I pocket carry the Bersa firestorm every day every where.
