im Felan Connor was bipolar(or atleast the actor portrays him as such) so he often snapped at his sister, including threatening her. Evan, an anxious boy and who is singing this song, faked a friendship with Connor through a web of lies after Connor sadly committed suicide. This song is basically Evan making up things Connor supposedly said about his sister, Zoe, when in reality the things Evan is saying in the song is from his own POV/thoughts/feelings. Sorry I'm not very good at explaining things so I hope this makes sense!

Yes, the transition from Connor to Evan has meaning, but I took it more as this is Evan's true feelings, but having to express it through Connor (which, of course, it is). Or it could be Zoe thinking her brother's back, even for a moment, before the reality that it's Evan there. So many ways to interpret such a small action, but it has a lot of meaning.

it's a thriller about a psycho that makes up a fake friendship with a dead boy in order to get close the his rich, loving family, specially the sister, who he has a crush on
It's not fair to call Evan a psycho imo, sure he did some pretty bad things, but he initially only did it to help the Murphys get through the trauma. And he did try to tell them that he never knew Connor, but nobody listened, so he was pressured into feeding the lie. As I said, he did some pretty messed up crap, but his heart is in the right place.
Evan is so smol and awkward, I love this so much. I also liked the touch where you showed Connor banging on the door and Zoe was on the other side. Great job brochacho.
I hate how people label Connor as verbally abusive when really Zoe and Connor both downgraded each other the same way in the musical. Like, we are forced to believe Zoe's side of the story since Connor is dead and unable to tell his. I mean, seriously, when we saw how Zoe and Connor acted towards eachother when they were both alive you can see Connor and Zoe treat eachother just about the same by saying mean shit. Zoe even said terrible shit about Connor even after he killed himself and that's suddenly okay? Er, no. I personally enjoy the novel where you get to hear from Connor's perspective and understand that Zoe and Connor weren't victims. They were siblings who argued, fought, and it dragged both of them down to the point where Zoe claims she feels no remorse for Connor's death.
@Antisocial Headphones Kid Haha it's cool, what you mentioned was quite interesting actually! I personally didn't really look at 'Break In A Glove' in that manner. But your interpretation makes a lot of sense. What I understood from it was that Larry believes that Connor never really appreciated his dad's efforts and care. Generally speaking, I was more focussed on what Larry said in 'Requiem' when I assumed that he wasn't "too fond of Connor", because it mentioned Connor "throwing the world away" and "leaving behind broken pieces." I feel that in both songs the things Larry said have a similar meaning: Connor not appreciating his dad's effort. And we did get to witness Connor being abusive towards Evan at the beginning of the play. Of course that doesn't automatically make him a horrible person, but he just had a poor way of dealing with his troubles. Edit: I guess you weren't the only one that had a lot to say haha
The book for dear evan hansen gives some input from connor's perspective!! it's a really good read, and I definitely recommend checking it out to get a further feel for the story.
Zoe even lies to herself. She says in Requiem that she feels no remorse and won't mourn but in the very next song she shows that she's willing to see some good in him.
In the book, Connor says that he and Zoe were very close but at some point Zoe stopped fighting for him and Connor felt betrayed by her. I'm not sure what he did for her to do that, but it seems like that's when they both started treating each other horribly. He also said he never threatened to kill her, nor would he ever hurt her physically. So yeah, the Murphy siblings are terrible to each other but you still feel bad for them both (I do. I also relate to the both of them a lot 💀)

This hurts cause Evan made Connor seem like a kind and wonderfull person who actually hid his happiness and only shared it with Evan. But in reality he might've hated his sister just like how he "helped" Evan when he fell from the tree. He was never there. But your interpretation makes a lot of sense. What I understood from it was that Larry believes that Connor never really appreciated his dad's efforts and care. Generally speaking, I was more focussed on what Larry said in 'Requiem' when I assumed that he wasn't "too fond of Connor", because it mentioned Connor "throwing the world away" and "leaving behind broken pieces." I feel that in both songs the things Larry said have a similar meaning: Connor not appreciating his dad's effort.
And we did get to witness Connor being abusive towards Evan at the beginning of the play. Of course that doesn't automatically make him a horrible person, but he just had a poor way of dealing with his troubles.

The book for dear evan hansen gives some input from connor's perspective!! it's a really good read, and I definitely recommend checking it out to get a further feel for the story.
Zoe even lies to herself. She says in Requiem that she feels no remorse and won't mourn but in the very next song she shows that she's willing to see some good in him.
In the book, Connor says that he and Zoe were very close but at some point Zoe stopped fighting for him and Connor felt betrayed by her. I'm not sure what he did for her to do that, but it seems like that's when they both started treating each other horribly. He also said he never threatened to kill her, nor would he ever hurt her physically. So yeah, the Murphy siblings are terrible to each other but you still feel bad for them both (I do. I also relate to the both of them a lot 💀)

This hurts cause Evan made Connor seem like a kind and wonderfull person who actually hid his happiness and only shared it with Evan. But in reality he might've hated his sister just like how he "helped" Evan when he fell from the tree. He was never there. I love how the fandom says he was and wants it to be real cause it's sweet and kind and lovely. But almost everything Evan tells everyone never happened. They never went to grab a scoop, he never felt the sun on his face with Connor next to him, they never shared stories and told eachother secrets.
