I must confess that I kinda only know the old songs, but the album sounds awesome. Very dark sounding with an underlying sorrowful tune, the sound gives me an early 2000's vibe and from hearing some lyrics it feels like a retrospective view.
I grew up with Staind too and I was super bummed when they went on hiatus, especially right after they put out a pretty solid album (self titled). Them, Cold, and Flaw were basically my "emo" bands that helped me get through a lot of tough times in my youth. I even did a school report on one of Stainds songs my sophomore year of high school and got a pretty good grade on it lol With all that said, my taste in music has changed a lot in the last 12 years and I was a little nervous that this new stuff wouldn't hit for me like it used to. Welp no worries there because I love this album. Been playing it a lot over the last two weeks and I can say it really grows on you the more you listen.
So glad you love it. I was a little worried how it was going to sound. But it legit sounds like STAIND and that made me happy. It definitely get's better listening more and more.
I'm hoping for a future deluxe album as " Full of Emptiness" and " Take" leaked and they're fully mixed songs for this album. They're still on youtube i highly encourage checking those out as well! Very solid tracks and makes the album feel more complete 😁 Also a big fan of The Used lol 😅
Better days is literally my favorite song on the album. I like that you deep dove on why you don't like it. Even though you're objectively wrong on literally every point =)
This album saved my life...love this band.cycle of hurting, bette days, lowest in me and out of time is what got me. The whole album is a banger.. life changer indeed
Thanks for providing your honest opinion on this album. Can tell you really love Staind and can relate to past albums with the melodies you hear in COTF album.
You definitely got to listen to his most recent country album. As much as I am like you and have to have stains in my life, I have to say I think it was extremely good for Aaron to make that move because it gave him new subject matter to explore in his lyrics and songs. Kill me like you love me, pull me under, and someone are all songs that I garantee you will love since you crave some slow Aaron Lewis. You might even like Everybody talks to god and goodbye town. It was seriously an epic album that gave everyone an entirely new side of Aaron that we never could have seen in him through Staind
Hey there, glad you seen to like this album, same here! Just wondering if you ever heard their true first album which was Tormented? That was their absolute heaviest and intense album. Most think Dysfunction was their first album because it was their first mainstream album
A little info on Aaron's scream, he had went to a very well known vocal doctor back in the day to get his vocals checked (very common with musicians especially rockers and metal screamers and big name musicians have went to this doctor too) and after doing tests, xrays, and MRIs, the doctor told Aaron that he has the thickest vocal cords that he has ever seen in a musician. So, his voice will be perfectly fine, he's said before that the screaming is very natural for him and is basically effortless. That's why his vocal range is so wide. He can drop down super low and then raise up for those high notes while also doing deep growls and piercing screams. In Aaron's words, god gave him an advantage over everyone else.
@ashlenamusic yup the actual debut album. Not good quality but heavy. Some favorite melodies on there. The album cover fred durst almost pulled them from an opening set because of it lol.

Cycle of Hurting is so good.
The 2011 self titled album was heavy as fuck too. Check out Paper Wings when you get a chance!
Will do!
@@ashlenamusicyou’ll love it. It’s probably their heaviest song
Here and Now was a ballad!
I like the very heavy sound they have on this new album. I've seen them several times and look forward to seeing them again
Same here!
