Wow Byrd, Don;t know where you live, but your store has a lot of real fabric! My store in Nebraska has THOUSANDS of bolts of fleece! I was just in and saw the gals putting out more fleece! If they would focus on fabric that wasn;t for blankets or prom dresses, they might not be in such a bind!!
Agree esp offering tons of fleece in Texas! And dislike that they cut way back on scrapbook supplies. And personally I wasted money for a Cricuit Air II before figuring out it wasn’t relevant to me. They push the expensive Cricuit so much for the high margins.
Agree. I went in for fleece like a sweatshirt is made from. All I could find was tons and tons of the spongey stuff that blankets are made of. They were calling it fleece.
Our Joann’s in Greensboro NC has a good variety of fabrics. We are lucky that the staff there is very friendly and willing to help. I never had a bad experience there.❤
Yeah, there is literally ONE fabric store in Santa Barbara. It is small, and expensive. I am wondering how Joanns could possibly be going bankrupt when quilting has become so popular? Seems odd to me.
I was in my Joann’s . There were only three people working (this was a Saturday). Fabric was pulled out hanging in all directions, buttons were all over as was thread, it looked like a rummage sale. The store was down sized and with only three people, no time to straighten up. Such a shame because even though I have a Hobby Lobby by me, they don’t have the wide assortment of fabrics. I hope Joann’s can pull through this.
You’re welcome 😊 The dress behind me is the DVF new vogue 2000 pattern. Check the reviews on my channel as I talk about the pattern. I do recommend it.
The only new shipment they receieved at my Joanns , is the Spring Simplicity 2024 patterns , i dont know when the rest is coming in , but thats ok , cause i got some super 2023 patterns
I didn't even know they had filed bankruptcy. Two days ago I wandered in to grab some DMC embroidery floss and it was all selling at 50 cents per skein. It's usually closer to $3. I just started throwing favorite colors in my basket.
This question may be off topic, but watching this video I got the feeling that you sew a lot of garments for yourself so you’re “in the know” on this topic. I am bigger in the bust (lower, too, but that’s the fault of gravity and too many candles on my birthday cake!!!) and I have the hardest time finding the right size pattern that will fit my bust without being wayyyy big across the shoulders. I guess I don’t understand why I can buy ready-to-wear that is big enough in the bust but still fits the shoulders, but if I sew a dress pattern according to my bust size, the neckline, shoulders, sleeve openings are all just enormously oversized. I know I could spend hours altering patterns, but honestly that just takes the fun out of sewing. Is there some mainstream pattern company that is better than others about making their patterns to fit actual adult mature women than the others? I love Joann and love making my own clothes, but pattern dimensions just seem out of touch with my demographic. Sorry if this is long, but this has been a sticking spot for me for a while.
Thank you for that question. I too am curvy. I’m full busted and blessed in the rear end. I adjust patterns as I’m sewing them to fit me which is part of the beauty of making my own clothing. There are number of independent pattern companies that do a really good job for curvy People. Check out Seamwork.
I was always taught that you buy a pattern to fit the biggest part of you and then tailor the part that doesn't fit. Or, when making a dress, buy two patterns, one to fit the top and one to fit the bottom. A sale on patterns would come in handy.
I just did a Joanns haul on my channel yesterday. I went in to my local Port Orchard WA Store and asked about closing. The manager told me they company was "restructuring" debts and not closing stores. I hope not. Our town needs more craft/fabric stores!
My store in Snellville, Georgia, is awful. It has looked like it has been ransacked since January. Shelves aren’t stocked. Merchandise on the floor. No one at the framing area. It’s horrible. I won’t be back.
Maybe the company should focus mainly on fabric, patterns, notions and a few basic sewing machines. Forget the candy and baking supplies. Forget the fake flower section. Forget all the holiday decorations.
My Joann never has newer patterns and if you ask, they basically say we crusty attitude. They have cut down staff. The mailer/flier ads never match what sales are actually in the store and they won't honor printed. They may keep some stores open, but you'll see changes as it will be owned by different people...I get my patterns online mostly now and fabric shop FabricMart and Thrifting, much better value and selection
I'm so sorry to hear this. Some stores and staff are better than others. I actually like the folks that work in my local Joann's. For patterns, simplicity.com is really good and you have access to the latest patterns.
My store in Utah looks like a War Zone and it looks to be cleaning out the storage room, and they never have batting, Threads or any needed Quilting supplies. I think the bills aren’t paid down yet to get more Credit for merch needed‼️🙈
My store in New Mexico is the same and has been for at least five years. Joann used to be my go to but no more. I don't think they will close, the stores in other locations that are well stocked, clean will keep the company afloat for a long, long time. Does anyone know how Joann's does inventory and such? It just seems strange that there can be such a difference between all the stores.
Joanne's has been price gouging since covid. I won't even shop there anymore. $15 for a yard of cotton is just outrageous! You can't get nice fabrics for clothing. My Joanne's store carries nothing but cotton, fleece and flannel. If you can find silk or linen ect its $40 a yard 😮.. and their coupons are a joke.
Best to start looking at plan B alternatives -if indeed your business depends on them….. Look at how many huge nationwide commercial retailers have closed in the last 20 yrs….. Hancock fabrics, Circuit City, Bed Bath & Beyond-most recently, just to name the 1’s I recall. Hancock of Paducah comes to mind as an alternative for U, as far as online shopping. What is your business producing?
