I find it extremely wholesome that he is a turtle enthusiast. I wouldn't of expected that. Adorable.
When our son became a drummer and gravitated towards blues and rock, he became obsessed with Neil Peart, the drummer for "Rush." As he was still really young (8 yrs old), I was a bit concerned with what sort of lifestyle these role models would be providing. Sure enough, often the rock/metal persona is an "act" in terms of their actual personalities and lives. Mr. Peart was quite the deep thinker and much more "wholesome" than you'd expect from a drummer of a very successful 70s-90's rocker.

You’d be baffled by how many genius/academics gravitate towards rock music. Brian May I believe is a doctor and there was this one guy from Iron Butterfly who wrote several papers in theoretical physics. Oh and Tom Morello has a doctorate also.
@@buffalojoe78 It really is incredible, isn't it! My son has high functioning autism, but math came incredibly easy to him, he has an idetic memory and apparently, he got in line 3 or more times when they were handing out music and rhythm.

When Shannon said that chicken turtles often get hit on streets, I wondered if maybe they were called "chicken turtles" because they try to cross the road to get to the other side!
I thought this as well! Then I thought “maybe because they play chicken with cars” but was also way off with that guess 😂

A pentagram is traditionally a symbol of protection.
It’s actually a pentacle. Pentagrams have no circle. Pentacles can represent natural grounding as the five points symbolize the five senses as well as five elements.

I'm interested to know how you guys met and got together to film. He seems like such a pure heart and the love for his animals really shines through.
I remember a while back Emily mentioned a famous musician (who she did not mentioned by name) reached out to her looking for help to buy, raise, and quarantine young turtles because they were inexperience with buying animals online. I am guessing that was Shannon.
Money to get tested and quarantine for 14 weeks porobably!

I’m Japanese, and my dad made a pretty sick koi pond and a mini zen garden in our back yard when we just emigrated to the United States. He taught me all about Japanese cultures through the koi pond and the zen garden while he let me help maintain them. I’m glad that Shannon shows the same appreciation for the koi fish as we do!

I know right? I just watched the Fish Whisperer make a HUGE pond for his turtles. And then one for his gar.
And I watched Gold Shaw Farm make a pond for his ducks and geese.

It's the reason I watch the Hoof GP lol. I'll probably never have to trim a cow's hoof but man is it neat to watch.
turtles aren't TERRIBLY expensive. the initial setup is kind of expensive (LARGE TANK, filtration, uv light, heat, dock, proper food, calcium, etc I have a tortoise I'm not super sure what else turtles need) they mostly need a lot of care and knowledge and patience.

Turtle goes back into pond and tells EVERYONE about the crazy female human that picked it up and smelled its butt. I can just see every single turtle staring up at the surface, eyes wide, on the lookout for The Butt-Sniffer.

Well, heres two people I never in a million years would have imagined meeting each other but here we are......what a small world, as they say...

This dude is so wholesome about these turtles. I haven't thought about this band in ages, it's nice to get this random blast from the past.
He seems like a real sweet person. I hope him & his turtles live long happy lifes.
I had the exact same thing with the hissing happen to me with a box turtle! My dog carried him down from the woods behind my house, and while I was carrying him back up he hissed SO LOUD I dropped him and screamed! I left him halfway up the hill for a couple minutes before I mustered the courage to carry him the rest of the way!
I just love listening to enthusiastic people talk about their animals, his passion and caring nature shine thru! Love that the wild turtles decided to hang out at his pond... can't blame them! It looks gorgeous!
So cool! I saw them decades ago, and watching him play the drums was hypnotic. It was like he was made of water, the way he flowed. I'm not surprised he got into creatures that live in water 😊
I noticed he had some Wiccan themed tattoos too- very spiritual

I’m hard of hearing with bi-lateral hearing aids and I was doing the same thing 😂
My dad was an audiologist, and my stepmom is a hearing aid seller. Glad I’m not the only one wondering what kind of aid it is! 😁
@Noah Sikorski check out Phonak’s line. I used them for 4+ years without issue
@Noah Sikorski Highly recommend going in to see an audiologist to have a consult as what model and manufacturer is best is highly variable based on your hearing loss and ear shape. For example my hearing aids are wonderful, I can connect to my phone or tv, and I don’t make a lot of wax so keeping them clean isn’t an issue. But they would be way too strong and completely wouldn’t work for someone else.
These are two of my favorite things in the world... Snake Discovery and Godsmack! Yes!!

Godsmack is such an awesome band. Really made my day to see that he named some of his koi after beyonce, solange, and Jay Z. Shows that the music worlds are a lot closer and filled with mutual respect
This was not a collaboration that I would have ever guessed would happen. But I love the ponds and lazy river so much.
It’s pretty cools that he D.I.Y-ed that pond! Just shows how much us humans don’t need help with everything. I love that pond.
This is such a pure example of what so many of us love about this channel. So many of us have no reptiles, or have one, or a little interest, but will never have... a giant collection, or become breeders, or... a koi river, lol. But part of the human experience is reveling in the joy of unabashed passion and sharing your hobbies and perspective with others. I will probably never own a snake, or have a turtle or a koi pond, but I will always, always consider it worthy time out of my day to share in someone’s true, joyful human experience.
Also: related: my favorite teachers growing up weren’t ever dependent on what subject they taught, but how they clearly FELT about the subject they taught. Give me an obsessed, over-the-top geology enthusiast, and I will adore geology for one whole year. XD
Shannon is really a cool dude. He gets his supplies from my work and it truly shows how much he loves his koi and turtles. I guess Emily’s dad lives here too? He came in asking for our shipping cricket boxes the other day.

In Georgia there was this baby’s turtle in my yard that was around 2 inches long and 1 inch wide

My family has a garden turtle. As soon as we started putting food out for it, we saw it no less than once a week during the springs and summers. It's in brumation now, no doubt, but I'll be happy to see its little face again soon!

A drummer and terrapin enthusiast, that’s what I want in a friend.
It's so important to see that although he is a musician and obviously absolutely loves being able to create music and share it with the world, that he also has a lot of other interests and hobbies. Even celebrities have more than one interest.
That's awesome. We live in Fort Myers, and my dad used to ride motorcycles with him and another buddy. He's such a genuine, kind hearted soul.
So, chicken turtles are like the Pillsbury cans of the turtle world. I wonder how Clint feels about them.

Shannon is an amazingly talented drummer. he seems like such a cool down to earth guy. And the fact that he loves his animals so much makes me like him even more. Great setup,I wish I was lucky enough to have the same.
Out of about 6-7 channels of researching on what to do for a ball python’s enclosure, food, health, having it being used to humans, reading its body language, and overall tips on what to do. Your channel shed the most light for me (getting my very first snek) to help me get what I need. And for that, I thank you.

That's really cool! I worked at an amusement park for 2 years before the pandemic hit and I was a ride operator. I operated the ride that spins so fast you stick to the walls and I was the person that operated it in the middle and I spun with the ride to operate it at 65 mph. It hits that speed from 0 in about 15 seconds so you do the math but either way I had a play list of about 25 songs or so and 2 of those songs were godsmack. It was the songs "I stand alone" (witch was kind of fitting because I was in a chair alone in the middle of the ride) and the song "I am" and let me tell you, we blasted those songs in there to give the guests something to listen to while the ride went on. I had a lot of fun rocking out in there all day. If they could hear my story I think they'd be proud.

Randome Godsmack reminiscence from a man old enough to remember the days. This reminds me of a time when I was 19 and Shannon was trying to get a friend of his out of a bar I frequented in Birmingham, AL, back when I competed playing pool. That was so long ago. It was probably someone who worked on the tour. They were still touring pretty solid back then, for a few years after 9/11. It's good to see how he's turned things around and helped so many people and animals. I had no idea he was into turtles so much, but then he always had that Ninja Turtle thing going on with the headbands and the nunchuks, like Michelangelo. It makes a lot of sense. I always figured him for a Raphael kind of guy, though. Shannon's been a good man. Glad to see he's in the hobby.
Hi Emily! I have been watching your chanell for YEARS and you were the one who got me into snakes and actually inspired me to actually get my first snake. It took 3 years to convince my mom but finally when she gave in I got one. We got the snake from a family friend who was going to collage and couldn’t take care of her anymore. She is a banana ball python and her name is Buttercup and she is the sweetest thing. ❤️🐍

Idk if Shannon will see this comment but I'm a huge Godsmack fan - always have been but they were also my very first concert in Atlanta at the Tabernacle. Watching him and Sully do a drum-off was SO COOL. Impressive talent on the drums AND an awesome set of ponds with beautiful animals!! What an awesome video, thank you Emily!
