It's a great Kit, builds well and run over with a rivetting whell and its right up with todays standards. When it was first released it was not expensive either. I think its the last of the Monogram/ Pro/Modeller Revell era, as there are some mega 1/48 kits they came out with between 1995ish and 2010 - the F-86D Sabre Dog . F 15E Strike Eagle, Stearman Kaydet and the Ventura and others. Well worth a go
0640 hours OHIO Time… GOOD MORNING… This will be interesting, I know nothing about this aircraft or the kit itself… I agree with you, a lot of details without a lot of parts… Everything about this kit looks really good… Have to think about this one… I have a lot in the stash right now… I think you picked a WINNER with this one for sure… I wonder what this aircraft would look like as a CIVILIAN AIRCRAFT and MARKINGS, like an early private or corporate owned plane?????? ( just a thought )… I would purchase this model kit just on your review alone… HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY WEEK… Merry Christmas 🎄 Happy New Year 🎉 to you and your family CHRIS 🇺🇸
i have build two of them ,for its age is amazing ,wings connection is amazing i glued them last after painting there is no gap there ,the only you need is also a set of resin wheels the kit wheels are bad ,i 3d printed my own but Eduard got some nice ones and for sure get your self masks is super hard to mask it ,also make sure when you glue the engine nacelle half make sure to remove that seem i have seen some very good modelers not to do it because they think is a panel line but its not ,actually is the only annoying part of the kit because you need to rescribe many things !
I have always had my eye on this kit, as I am slowly building my 'Cactus Airforce' collection. This kit looks great and is still available, unlike my search for a 1/48 scale Monogram PBY-5A!
Hello Jon, very good video, I had some idea about this model, however, now the idea of having it has become even better to me hahaha, maybe one day I can have it, very nice interior and exterior details, it lends itself to an assembly of excellence, go step by step detailing, you could if you can, make chapters by parts, interior, assembly, printing and painting, etc. Have a Merry Christmas with your family, greetings and until the next video.
I agree the suggestion of Mr rOEN911 to replace the kit wheels with the Eduard offering (item #648068). I agree to replace the kit props as well. In addition, in my knowledge the kit engine cowlings are not 100% accurate in shape. There is on the aftermarket the resin corrected cowlings by Vector (item #VDS48-56) which fix the issue, if you wish. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year !
Another great review Jon! The few revell kits I’ve built wether ships, sci-fi or aircraft have always had fit issues that then gave me fit issues. That said this kit may be worth the investment as the overall fit looks great! The scratch on the clear part is a big issue for me. Older kits ,especially monogram, use to have this often, as the they sometimes would leave the clear part out of its own packaging freely moving about the box. But when I was young my friends and I would remedy this by making “battle damage “ effects to compensate.😮 which leads me to a question have you ever built a kit with battle damage as part of defect resolution or intentional like a diorama. Thanks and Happy holidays everyone!
I've done battle damaged kits before. I have also left a mistake on a kit and chalked it up to a "rough" landing or an overstressed airframe. It will be interesting to see if I can polish out the canopy 🤞. Cheers!
Hello, I am an aircraft crash madman, a straight out crash is fairly easy, but doing one rotted out can become a REAL challenge. It becomes an adventure into the spare parts box, the level of additions can make you drive down crazy street. I usually only crash 1970's Revell kits in 1/32 scale. Did a Wildcat down and rotted out in the Pacific, converted a Wildcat to a Martlet, put that down in the desert, did a Corsair crashed in Canada in the fall, and put a Stuks in a frozen pond in the snow. As to battle damage try to not over do it. Damage can be REAL fun, so try to not get carried away with it. If you want check out You Tube PMCMP there are some episodes that have the Wildcat in it. Thanks so much for the info on the Academy kit. I was just given 3 of these Ventura kits, one was started, (Which might get crashed) one was the Brit. bird and the other was factory sealed like the one in your review. Thanks again, Bill G.
I was not familiar with this kit and your review makes it shine. The level of details is very good. When was it produced by Revell? Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!

I agree. I also just picked up the F-86D, so stay tuned for an upcoming review of that kit as well. Cheers!

Thank you! This kit was produced in 2011.
@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 thanks! It probably explains the good level of details.
This kit has recently been reissued by Academy (from Korea), fairly easy to find in the shops here in Europe…
@@ronsteiner1637 good to know. Thanks for the info.
