“A restoration can bet a higher price” then they completely and utterly ruined it it looks like they let a highschool student with a spray paint addiction repaint it. It was worth more as is was
Exactly. This restoration was a joke and ruined this iconic item…..Sad, but This became a “replica looking WW2 ammo cart.” Rick is going to be hard pressed to sell this as, “an original WW2 ammo cart.” It will not convince a lot of people it’s, “original” because anymore, ITS NOT.
@@Hambone571 Original parts, original metal that is restored. Legally it's "original" and can be sold as such. Whether someone buys it, I doubt it. It's still original.

How could anyone prefer the WW2 cart “restored”? After restoration, that thing might as well have been produced today. Destroys all the history in my opinion.
I came here for this exact comment! Is it even from WW2 at this point? Did that bottom slats carry WW2 ammo and supplies or pull wounded soldiers. Did those sides get shot during battles. They didn't even keep the same design. Nobody on that battlefield saw that cart. That color with those numbers like that. It's disappointing.
The 1st customer should have held on to that coin even though he wasn't expecting five thousand dollars because we all know he could've really gotten more money plus he really had a piece of real history in his grasp.
He was intentionally low balled by Rick because the shop will literally have to take a employee off the floor for days to find a buyer, may even have to bring it to a dealer and pay a commission. It's a pawn shop that off camera deals in video games and power tools, old coins take effort to sell

But the people captain cook came from had no idea it was there. So he discovered it from their perspective. No good knowing something if you don't tell anyone about it.
Discovered it for the west, obviously. Nothing was really going on in these uncharted areas, let's be real. The differences in technology between the west and the rest of the world was unparalleled at the time.
Polynesians discovered Hawaii, and there’s good historical evidence that Spain or Portugal actually found Hawaii for Europe before Cook as their trade routes to China were just north of the island chain. Cook “discovered” Hawaii for Britain.
I agree. I think its much more valuable as it was. He removed the history, he replaced the ribs with non-authentic parts. It looks like you could buy that thing at a flea market for $30.00
They destroyed that ammo cart. He replaced the entire floor with new metal, everything on it is different/modern of what the original was. That is NOT a restoration, that's replacement.

@@JeffSmith-eq3kc Indeed. Especially if you consider that this is what it might "go for" at auction (it might not, who knows?), the auction house takes between 10 and 25% of the end price, plus a bunch of other fees (that medal isn't something you'd sell on ebay). And he'd also need a real appraisal to get that kind of money at an auction, which also costs money. If the seller had decided to get it auctioned off it's not unlikely that he might have ended up with less money than he got from Rick.
I think that if properly auctioned , that thing can go for more than 30 to 40,000 bucks. But the keyword properly auction meaning that the set up Would eat in a lot of the selling price
It literally does not look like the same cart. I cringed when I seen the “restoration” and actually questioned if it was the same one. Either the “expert” had no idea what he was doing or he swiped the cart out.
It amazes me that people are willing to part with history for 300, 400, 500 bucks and actually feel happy about it. Unless you are into the 5 figures at least, keep that in the family man.
The restoration effed it up by using glass-belted tires and not actual military-grade mud tires. To me, I would prefer to have had the rotting original tires on the cart.
I was watching out for the tires. Shocking he chose to remove them. Could have just cleaned them up a bit. I mean replacing the tires which actually weren't in bad shape and looked perfectly sevicable has killed the value of the cart for me. It was way more to me significant as a rust bucket than this "restored shape".
Once someone who was a valid appraiser told me my item was worth significant value, the last place I would sell it would be this pawn shop. Especially because most collectors would pay even more for potential future value
Jesus dude... How do you think the pawn shop makes money if they would actually buy at at full value? And they sell here because they either need the money fast, because they don't have the connections to get a collector orrr because getting a collector or an auction actually takes money and time. You really didn't think about any of this before making your post XD?
The appraiser doesn’t provide any documentation. It’s all verbal. So if they sold it to a collector, they’d need to pay an appraiser for documentation.
