"We are Motörhead, and we play Rock and Roll !"
DAMN RIGHT
Damn straight, brother
Don't forget us
They play metal. I don't care what anyone says.
@@adriantrusca1245 lol... even Lemmy ?
Lex doesn't realize this yet, but Lemmy is her spirit animal.
Haha that's so true
Well said
My dogs name is Lemmy in tribute to god himself.
It's pretty funny that Lemmy is typically considered to be both the most badass and the sweetest rockstar in metal history. :)
I love listening to Rollins storys about Lemmy....
I think the word 'cool' sums him up. :)
My dogs name is Lemmy in tribute to god himself.
Lemmy, lived his life with no regrets.
He started out as a guitar tech for Jimi Hendrix. Became a legend.
"Wrong answer! Lemmy IS God!"
@@mikethemotormouth My dogs name is Lemmy in tribute to god himself.
Wrong. He started out as the guitarist in Rockin;' Vickers, then he joined Sam Gopal's band, again on guitar and THEN he was Hendtix' roadie before joining Hawkwind on bass (which he had not played up to this point.
Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, bass and vocals.
"Fast" Eddie Clarke, guitar.
Philip "Philthy Animal" Taylor, Drums.
Best power trio ever.
Agreed ,I’d put Venom second
I liked the four piece lineup the most. Two killer guitar players.
And may they all R.I.P.
"We are Motörhead and we play Rock 'n' Roll." Lemmy would say that before every show. Lemmy was the epitome of metal. Ozzy and Lemmy were good friends. They did a song called "I Ain't No Nice Guy" with Slash on guitar.
Don't forget about hellraiser
And Lemmy wrote 4 or 5 songs off the No More Tears album. Including Mama I'm Coming Home.
Lemmy was such a rockstar right till the end, RIP.
The tale is that drummer Philthy Animal Taylor asked Lem to write a song that would showcase his new double-kick bass drums. The result was the absurd overkill of "Overkill." They'd often close their show with this track, crank the amps, and leave the guitars propped against them, sending peels of feedback thru the building. Absolute rock heaven. RIP.
Actually, this started as a warm-up exercise. Lem and Eddie walked in to find Phil playing this alone on drums and were so blown away by what he was doing that they made an entire song around it. It was never meant to be one.
One of the loudest and most badass bands that I’ve ever heard and seen in concert. Lemmy is a master. He’s the King of Metal. So many great songs to hear from them. They have influenced everyone in the Metal community. Motörhead and Lemmy will live forever. 🤘🏻
Utterly sodding brilliant 😊😉😎
I only have one comment what do you mean one of the loudest badass band's???? come on their sound desk goes from 1 to extreme pain THEY ARE THE GREATEST LOUDEST BADASS BAND EVER FULL STOP
They are the loudest 🤘🏽😁🤘🏽
I was stone deaf for a week after seeing Motorhead. That moment when you go to bed after a gig, your head hits the pillow and all you can hear is a high pitched whine! 😂😂
@@andrewlaw last time i saw MOTORHEAD WAS THE KISS OF DEATH TOUR 2009 here in Aotearoa new zealand and too see the BEST TWO THREE PIECE BAND'S EVER IN ONE NIGHT AWESOME MOTORHEAD AND STICKY FILTH .STICKY FILTH HAVE BEEN KNOCKING OUT THE T.H.C TARANAKI HARDCORE SINCE 1986
Lemmy actually considered Motörhead more of a punk band and felt he related to punk more than metal
Well he did love The Damned. He turned up at their studio when they were recording Machine Gun Etiquette in '79, and they did some jamming which ended up with a MotorDamned version of Over The Top. Great stuff.
Honestly Motorhead is the Shared ancestor of modern metal and punk. Motorheads Speed and Sabbath's heaviness made metal, But that same speed combine with the grime and roughness of early punk to shape that genre also. Lemmy is simply the greatest Rock n roller of all time.
Lemmy is just one of those absolute Legends!!!!
Just a legend, the only person to play the bass as a lead guitar. He was special, he went out the way he went in, with his boots on.
I wouldn’t take anything from Lemmy; but are you not counting Les Claypool?
“Everything louder than everyone else” Watch a live Ace of Spades.
or Iron Fist
This one needs to be heard live.
Especially the No Sleep Til Hammersmith version.
@@joedec killer! 🙂
@@joedec the version on the "aftershock - tour edition" album ... the kicks are so punchy you cant help but fall in love with the song all over again. Undoubtedly a credit to the talent of Mikkey Dee.
Love when lex gets that lil smile started when she hears a song
God bless Lemmy Kilmister. He lived his life the way he wanted to. Alcohol, speed and tobacco was his fuel. Rest in metal legend
Motörhead. The Rock n Roll rabbit hole. Legends and one of my favorite bands.
Lemmy was absolutely the quintessential larger than life rock star! So many great quotes from him over the years, but my favorite.... "We're the kind of band when we move in next door your lawn dies" 🤘🤘
My first concert was them in 1996 at the age of 15. My uncles took me and it was the craziest shit ever. I had to leave school the next day because I was completely deaf for 48 hours. Lemmy is god
I saw Ozzy and Motorhead on school trips. Can't recall what order, so they were the 1st or second band I saw. Aged 14 or 15.
I took my son to see motorhead when he was aged 10 and again at 17 (eden project, 2015)
If you like motorhead and want something different listen to 1916 it will bring tears to your eyes berry powerful about soldiers in WW1
Great song and so sad
Motorhead were the Godfathers of Thrash. They were the first band to merge Punk and Rock/Metal laying the foundation for later bands like Venom, EXODUS (The first Thrash band IMHO), Metallica, etc. Lemmy always insisted they were a Rock and Rock band playing the Blues and the reason they played so fast was because they were on speed all the time.
It's not thrash, it's not punk, it's not metal it's Motorhead, it's god's work
It's Motorhead!...no fairytale dog god's needed!
Henry Rollins has the best story about hearing Motorhead for the first time at a party - it was a life-changing experience for him.
1:34 THIS SONG IS DESCRIBING YOU! Lex has hard-rock in her bones. Military kid, moved all the time growing up. Represent, Baby!!!
Lived right down our street. Actually saw him on a pretty regular basis. Very nice guy. RIP
Damn, Lex is starting to even key in on how earlier metal bands influenced the next wave. Motorhead, Sabbath, Priest, and Rainbow are the absolute bedrock of all the Metal subgenres.
Motorhead were a bridge from hard rock to metal AND punk. So incredibly influential and that's not even including Lemmy's influence as a pop culture figure and icon.
@@CMBlue you had the titans of lemmy, dio and ozzy, all influenced metal and rock. You can track most bands sound back to one of those 3 usually, though of course there were many other influential artists , but those 3 were amongst the biggest.
You have to watch this live! Went to many of their concerts. This was always the last song of the night. Leaving Lemmy's last bass tone to hauntingly linger on.
Was lucky enough to see Motorhead live. This music is loud and best played that way.Lemmy
Last time I saw them, it was in L.A, they had Slash come on stage as a special guest. What a night!!
gutted i missed the opportunity to see them live - RIP lemmy.
I just got to see them in Toronto about 3 moths before he passed RIP
Saw them for the first/last time in Montreal in late 2015. RIP Lemmy!
Hehehe, saw them at Hammersmith on the "No Sleep Til Hammersmith" tour & Brixton about 20 years later. In the 80's the crowds were pure metalheads, in the noughties they had the most diverse audience, metalheads, rockers, punks, skinheads, mods, Hell's Angels, tourists and suits all turned up to see the mighty Motorhead.
this was way back in the 70's Metal was just being born ....speed/thrash definitely evolved from this album.....you are witnessing their birth
What a song. I was lucky enough to see Motörhead three times, twice at small venues. Being in Lemmy's presence you could feel something special radiating from him, an absolute legend.
This is from 1980, I was 15, this was something we got amped up on then road our dirt bikes wide open with the song still reverberating in our ears. Ya !! Give 'er.
Lol
Love Motorhead so much I feel they were the most underrated hard rock band.
Underrated? They're legends to metal heads, rockers, and punks all over the world.
There's nothing underrated about Motorhead
@@gavinyoung7085 Exactly lol !!
@@gavinyoung7085 yeah but i get what he means most people if you say motorhead only know ace of spades and none of their other great songs
Lemmy Kilmister, lead guitarist of The Sam Gopal Band in the 60s, bass guitarist of Hawkwind in the 70s and creator, bass guitarist and lead vocals of Motorhead from the 70s till he passed recently.
The song Motorhead that started it all was originally a Hawkwind song. The Motorhead style of music pre-dates thrash by a few years.
He got his singing by chance with hawkwind and it was a big hit. Then they later fired him for getting arrested for drugs and his response was motorhead, which critics hated, but he didn't care about critics he cared about rock music. He was one of the few who would state his early influences being bands like the shadows when they were very much out of vogue, but he didn't care as he knew that all the musicians of his generation grew up listening to those sorts of bands.
Classic fucking Motorhead: Lemmy, Fast Eddie, Philthy Phil.
Now we need the classic, vital, vintage, smoking live version from "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith".
In 1979 I was 16 and not long got into all the classic heavy rock/early metal bands when a friend said " 'ere, 'ave you 'eard a band called Motor'ead?" I said no, so he loaned me the single of this song. I was blown away, couldn't believe how fast and how raw it was, plus Lemmy's voice of course. Have never recovered and still love the band to this day.
Keep in mind the whole time drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor was running laps on those double bass toms. Like running a marathon.
I broke so many drum heads and pedals jamming to this damn song!!!🤘🏻🔥😂
Motorhead were very influential on the thrash bands coming out of the early eighties.
Check out their song "Orgasmatron", great riff and lyrics, or the duet Lemmy did with Ozzy Osbourne "I ain't no nice guy", kind of a rock ballad with interesting lyrics, and Slash plays the guitar solo. 🎸
Nice profile pic 🤘
Metallica have often said that their sound is pretty much part motorhead and part diamond head. Lars could not get enough of the nwobhm music as well.
I've never seen enyone express less when listen to Overkill then him.
She was feeling it on the other hand 🤘
If you want to react to another Motorhead song, I recommend "Iron fist".
I was trying to "read" Brad's mind everytime the song restarted at the end but damn, his poker face is serious business! :o
Lemmy came out with a classic, i was alive before rock n roll statement and he was right
God bless Brad and lex for featuring this track. All the best from (Lemmy's) Burslem, the Potteries....UK. W are the people...
you both rock! 🙂you got the "overkill" part on the first listen! 🙂 this song just keeps going and going...i never want it to end, easily my favourite motörhead song. 🥰 this has to be one of the very best encore songs in all of roll & roll. every time you think it's done....just more and more, louder and louder, faster and faster. i was lucky enough to hear / see them play this live twice. a classic!! 🙂
One of the few bands that crossed over the whole punk / metal scene
The simplicity and power of The Ramones, the speed and volume of thrash metal
Influenced so many bands.
RIP Lemmy, is from my hometown in England (Stoke on Trent)
Don't forget them. They were 𝕸𝖔𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖍𝖊𝖆𝖉. They played 𝕽𝖔𝖈𝖐-𝖓-𝕽𝖔𝖑𝖑!
Lemmy. I miss you dude!
Not the biggest moterhead fan, but he deserves the respect due to such a great artest. Is his voice great? No! But he started something amazing! Respect!
Its unique, would definietly take it over a good but allthesame voice
I see Motorhead, I watch the video. Wish you did the live version though ✌
Yeah hammersmith has literally better versions of every song
I always remember Lemmy when he was with Hawkwind when he was the vocalist singing "Silver Machine."
This is an awesome track; I absolutely love "Overkill."
I saw them live a few times...
Superb.
You have just heard possibly the GREATEST ROCK N ROLL SONG EVER!!!
You guys just rock. You must do just cos you've got the power doesn't mean you've got the right. This song is a flip the bird to all the big businesses and politicians who stick to us poor and middle class people.
The more you dig in and listen to motorhead, the more you like it
I love Motorhead and saw them live three times in the 80's including the front row at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, leaning over the stage. They were so loud it was amazing
How was your hearing after the gig? I'm sure there was some ringing
@@joedec Pardon? 😉 Yeah definitely lots of ringing in my ears. I was at school at the time and the next few days lessons were a blur
thats one of my go to songs in the gym and it really gets my crank turnt. i feel like WOOHOOO
One of Metal's greatest inspirations.
Remember seeing Motorhead live for the first time and most people where wearing ear plugs ? what the hell .... come out of that gig with my head ringing !! what a night
Back before there were so many electronic gadgets in our lives we music heads spent all our money on Hi-Fi stereo systems with 20 band graphic equalizer to get the sound just the way we wanted. Whenever yall listen to old stuff and think it doesn't sound as good as today you are getting the actual sound of music if you want todays processed generic sound that you think is good get an equalizer.
Lemmy is the main writer, singer, bassist. He always said they didn't play metal, ("we play rock and roll, just faster and louder than everyone else") but all the people that came after said Motorhead paved the way for thrash and speed metal. The double bass drum through this whole song was first for that kind of thing. Everyone says Lemmy's voice is a natural result of years of Marlboro's and Jack Daniels, seems like good bet. I wish it was louder in the mix too, but usually it wasn't. Larger than life guy, lots of history, very smart & well read, you should watch his documentary sometime.
Oh my . Im lucky boy . I saw these guys on the bomber tour . 15 yrs old , first gig i d been to . With thier 10 , 000 watt system it was like standing behind a jet . Ears ringing for 48 hrs . But well worth it .
This needs to be seen live tbh, so much better that way
Lex, EVERYTHING LOWDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE! I see Brad wearing Rock T-shirts. I want you to wear Motorhead. Next level respect.
I have never seem a version of this song so quiet. It is always extremely loud ( and I love it )
Lemme would tell you they play rock and roll, not heavy metal. You need to watch Lemme's milk commercial, hilarious! "Trick question Lemme is god"
Almost my favorite song of all time.......oh wait yes it is!!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS REACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is really nice for Lemmy followers to see reactions to a track that we all know ends 3 times 🤘🏻🤘🏽🤘🏿🤘🏼
They were all very articulate and intricate musicians
LMFAO!!!
Poor Brad!
He's just SO musically dim, and perhaps even soulless, while Lex is absolutely brilliant, perceptive, and FEELS every bit of it...
Analogy- Brad is "Chopsticks" and Lex is "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"
Oh, and never forget,
LEMMY IS A Rock n Roll GOD!
If you wanna hear something different from motorhead, listen to their cover of the song 'heros' by David bowie.
And also 'god was never on your side', and 'i ain't no nice guy after all' ft ozzy Osbourne and slash from guns and roses
Was hoping for the live version of this one :)
Man that drumming changed my hearts rhythm 🤘😉
What’s this about Brad?
Rock and fucking roll,THATS what.
Stay Clean, is another great track from the original Motorhead trio.
My ears buzzed for a week after a 70’s Motörhead gig,
One of the best things about watching your reaction videos (apart from that it's fun to see your reactions) is that you don't spend like 4 minutes with introductions. It's traight to the action. That's appritiated. Keep it up!
Motörhead: Orgasmatron
This song is what inspired other hard rock/metal drummers to not just use but FEATURE double bass drumming in their songs
Raw... pure... perfect...
Motorhead influenced just about every band in metal, punk, hard rock and Southern rock that came after.
March 1990 Liverpool university I heard this live I had tinnitus for 3 weeks after this ,before health and safety it was the loudest thing I've ever heard
I saw them at the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ, in 1985. But wait there's more! The lineup was Hellhammer, Exciter, Mercyful Fate, with Motörhead headlining. I was 15.
There are a few miserable gits complaining at the inclusion of MOTORHEAD, one of the most influential hard rock bands ever .... It helps to have been to a Motorhead gig or three and felt the energy - the drum solo on this live was spectacular - think he chucked about 100 sticks in the air, one for every beat - it was amazing to watch. And I won;t hear a word said against Lemmy, from my home town, Stoke on Trent. He was unique - had his own style. At least Brad and Lex get it.
I am so saddened that you two will never get a chance to see Lemmy.
The more you learn about Lemmy, the more you will love/appreciate the man, the legend.
Quite possibly the greatest rock n roll Song ever
Great reaction! There are awesome live performances of this song! This ending, starting again…total awesomeness! No, this isn’t thrash… like Lemmy used to say, They are Motörhead and they play Rock’n’Roll! But this is why they were one of the very few bands loved by rockers, punkers and metalheads! Greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
A Motörhead concert was like getting three for one. You heard the first night, the next day and the day after that. My ears have never rang like they did after a Motörhead concert.
I was lucky enough to meet both Lemmy and drummer Philthy Phil a few times over the years starting in the 80s. I only had to meet Fast Eddie Clarke but he died a few years ago so there goes that.
Seen them live in la' more' east Queens New York 1989
Couldn't here for 3 days
Was insain. Felt my heart in a AED from the precautions.
Yep, Lemmy went from Hawkwind to realizing the the British Punk explosion was the way ahead. So he took the energy of Punk, melded it with Metal, and from Motörhead we get Thrash Metal.
You should check out "Killed by Death" or "Deaf Forever" by Motorhead.
Yes indeed ✌
Or the Game
Motorhead, my first love & it's rock & roll.
Oh my favourite motorhead song.. my 5 year old has lemmy in his name.. as a tribute..
Lucky enough to see them perform in a relatively small venue, my ears were ringing for two days!
I wish people would listen to more than Ace of Spades/Overkill, Motorhead has SO MUCH good songs outside of their most popular ones.
This widely considered the first heavy metal song to feature full-on double bass...
watching motorhead live was a incredible experience, you literally felt the music, great reaction
WE ARE MOTORHEAD AND WE PLAY ROCK AND ROLL !!! LEX ... YOU'RE READY FOR A HEAVY METAL CONCERT !!! BRAD ... NOT YET !!!
Might be my favorite Motörhead song.
i often wonder if lemmys mom bottle fed im gravel as a baby. his voice was just too cool
Motörhead 1975 - 2015. 40 years. Longer than most bands.
They are often called the godfathers of speed metal
Been to their shows 7 times, a long time ago. Always great live. Met Lemme once out at the bus. He and the whole band were great
