Thank you! I ordered an 8cm metal motorcycle brake clutch pedal return spring from Amazon for £5 and fitted it. The reason I went for this type of spring was so the spring coil would not catch the brake cable. I was going to put the car on axel stands so I could put a nut on the flat head bolt I used to anchor the spring, but realised it would not be needed as the metal black plate would keep it in place anyway. Once again thank you for your ingenious method, and I look forward to your other videos.
Thanx, ive just bought a 2008, CLK and checking over everything. Yesterday checked and cleaned up the brake shoes etc at the drum, so today lifted the rear seats and checked the brake tree, cleaned and lubricated, all looked good !!
U r a star ! I recently took the car to Volvo garage as I want it to get it fixed ASAP . They have changed the shoes but I was still getting a issue with handbrake!!! Now I know why . I will try to get it fixed tomorrow by my self . I have already wasted 300£ for nothing🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ ..... I m so so upset that I haven’t watched your video before .... mind u ! This is my first Mercedes and I had no clue about this car .... now I know what I m dealing with .... .... I love u man !!!✌️🙏✌️🙏❤️😎
Excellent. I just bought a C240 Sedan yesterday. Owner said the rear wheels are locked. I bet the parking brake assembly is frozen under my back seat as well. Thanks for the great video.
😂😂😂 That’s a fantastic fix. That spring is better than the Mercedes spring. If it were my car I would try to find a stainless steel spring so it doesn’t rust or cover the hole from the bottom so that water and salt doesn’t get it in, then I’d lubricate the crap out of it and call it a day. That was awesome.
If you can still read after 5 years... Hello im from Spain, and since 2 years ago i have a problem coming from my hand brake system on the right. I have replaced everything on that side, everything, i cant name the things in english right now, but ,everything was replaced... Yet the noise is coming sometimes from there, happen more when i turn to the left, or when im stopped and the car go back a few milimeters, also when it is a hot day. I just thing that the hand brake of the right tire just activate sometimes a few and make this noise... I use to remove the noise activating the hand brake my self and removing it again few seconds after when im still running on the car ( around 10 to 20km/H) The only thing that i have not changed yet is that hand brake adjuster. Coudl it be the problem? thanks if u answer
Great video. Subbed! I have one question, I have the same car and what happens is that the hand brakes wont stop the car in very stiff roads when I park. Should I just tight the main bolt there? If yes how much? Thanks!
Thank you for the great video . I have a 1996 Mercedes SL320 r129 and the parking brake is stuck pushed down . The cable isn't broke and when I pull on the lever , the brake doesn't release. Do you have any ideas of how to fix it ? Thank you .
This is a good add to the parking brake system .. where did you get this spring from ? if you can give me measurements for the spring that would be awesome.
Thanks, I found a spring for my 2003 ML 350... I installed it under the car ( pretty easy, no drilling ) because i would have had to take the dam console apart to get to it . The underneath had a spring hole and the spring fit and connected to the foot pedal cable bracket rather easy ! Thanks anyway !
