- My 2006 E350 Mercedes-Benz started showing ABS and ESP codes on the dash and the car did not start… This is what I did to fix it... Help support our nonprofit runintothesky....

As a matter of fact! Mercedes "fuses" are some of the best designed on the market. Don't even mention the fuse chart, it's as good as it can be.

A system can be as 'smart' as possible from an engineering point of view, that's still a fail if the end user does not get the information.

Hi Sean ..I have the ESP light that came on dash but the car cranks up fine but when I press on the gas pedal , NOTHING HAPPENS no acceleration... However.my glove box light is on and trunk lightis on...so I pulled out the fuse directly under the fuse on your video the seems to be the upside down 75...and put it right back in and (Crazy) it works now ...car works just fine, accelerating just as normal....do you think I should replace it anyway.,. I took the car to get all the fuse checked and they were all good... Have no idea why that happened with the ESP light coming on and non acceleration but it's all good now

You saved me a ton of money, and unnecessary repairs!!! You are a genius!!!! I don't understand why Mercedes has it like that in this model... the whole system doesn't start for a simple $3 fuse! Where is the fuses that you replaced or rather the fuse box?

After 3 weeks of changing sensors, opening and closing everything in the engine and some more, I'm stunt that I had a similar problem with a fuse. I checked twice every fuse, but the lights beside the dashboard...

Looks like I have to buy a 12v probe light for checking blown fuse and keep it in the boot of my Mercedes. Video like this made owning an old car much easier and with less stress!. Just a few days ago I had asked my mechanic to take out the shorted alarm horn which keeps blowing the 7.5A fuse in the boot. This fuse also power up the remote system.
This F8 blown fuse had disabled the ability of opening the car doors from afar using the remote fob.
so i bought a 2006 E350 for $1200 that wouldnt start as a project. had no voltage at the switched power pin at the fuel pump relay. i jumpered it and car ran but in limp mode. noticed ecu was hot. opened it up had a burnt spot. a common problem on these models. ordered another cloned ecu. car never cranked or ran again. got discouraged. sat for a year. was thinking it was another big deal like the ignition. a security fault or wiring etc. found your video went out and stuck a fresh battery on the car. opened my glove box and no light. found this fuse was missing. previous owner had been digging around in fuse panel. stuck one in and car fired right up. go figure 🤦♂️😆 Thank you.
😂😂😂😂 I parked my car perfectly sound. Next day check engine light & ABS. Put a scanner on it tan back to spark plugs so I know it’s not because I changed them 3 months ago.
Checked fuses and 3 were bad.
Now it runs better than before.

Thank you for this awesome video, just a thought did you ascertain why the glove box light had blown the fuse in the 1st place? shorted wiring? or bad bulb that spiked the fuse ? please post more great content 🙂
oh don't feel bad about a 7.5 fuse doing that to a benz.
coz there's a 5a fuse that completely kills half functions & render it dead, in a BIG OL escalade ; )

Everyone needs to be very careful and take note of this there are many items that are doubled or tripled up on Mercedes fuses just because it says it's a light there may be two or three other things on that low voltage circuit

Wow I just got stranded at the car wash. In 07 e350 I was messing with glove box because the light was back words it turns off when I open box and turns on when I close it so I had the car on running and I tried to get the button in the glove to push when I open in stead of close then car shuts off and now I'm so mad and stressed left car there. I'm going to look at the fuse now I really want to thank you for your time and help

What is current going to the ABS modulator pump 12 volt or 9 volt ?
My car was the same thing, on my Sl65 - changed the 20a fuse on the passenger side and it started right up. Thank you sir!

I have this problem with my 06 cls500 , abs and esp malfunction is on , car won’t start …. My glove box light is on , and all fuses checked good …. Any idea what else I could try ????
Wow this just happed to my E500 today! But I waited a min or so then retried. It fired right up! So I'm even more worried now lol!
Thank you !!!! I was getting so upset with the intermittent reliability. I ordered a fuse off Amazon it was junk and after glove light still not going on got one from O’reily and it is great now!

2003 slk amg32 - about a month ago I drove the car on a multi stop short trip. After my last stop, I started it up and set for home. Just out of the parking lot a yellow circle light came on and the car would not go more than 15 mph. Towed it home. I took terminals off battery thinking that would reset things and they also were a little loose so I made sure they were super tight.
Car would start intermittently just by keep trying. my key fob was splitting apart so I replaced the fob batteries and it started, and let me take a short trip until that circle light then all dashlights on. It restarted but I could not get it out of park. So I replaced the key fob last night. It started up for the MB guy who programmed it. I started with old key and it started. So an hour later I took it for a nice 30 minute ride and on the way home I had to hit the brakes a little hard and that circle light and esp came on and speedometer stopped working. It did let me drive the mile home thank god but once in park it would not come out of park. Then no starting. Today tried to start and it took 10 tries. I went to recode the radio and all lights came on again and it would not come out of park. I've been trying the ideas here, so far no luck. Let me know if any more ideas and Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately I am not sure and I apologize I did not see this before… Were you able to get this fixed? How did you fix it?
my gl450 start doing same thing i have to disconnect the battery for few minutes after that car starts and drives fine few days later did it again .how you find the problem on yours yet??

Thank you I'm having problems with my Mercedes Benz c300 sometimes it will start then sometimes it won't I change the battery I took it to a specialist and they said it's my key ignition switch is the problem and to fix it itll cost 1400 to 1700 I got a 2nd opinion and was told the rear fuse is the issue so when the mechanic checked the fuse box he moved it a little then my car started idk if I need to replace fuse or ignition switch
both units are known to go out, yet unlikely at the very same time.
I suggest you buy a good ODB2 scanner to read active bus faults or befriend a knowledgeable gearhead

On older mercs it’s usually the OVP really that has a 10amp fuse on top of it
thats what happen to my w210, was a noise filter on the back of the radio

I dont have this problem....but like looking at what could happen....good steps in trouble shooting....a fuse not related to the issue makes me wonder if that system skims voltage For the sensors and still may have a secondary problem....fuses don't normally blow without some type of short/overload etc...but,...I hope it's fixed long term for you and thanks for the video you posted...always a learning experience with these cars....Thanks pauly
Thanks, it really helped me. It was about the fan fuse - 25A blown - engine runes at maximum speed and no start of the car. After changing this fuse, everything was back to normal.

How could you tell the fuse was blown by looking at it? Was there dark marks?
you can see the metal in the fuse...it was not connected
hold the fuse up high in the air . the fuse is transparent and you can see the light grey metal is blown (disconnected). clearly visible. if not sure compare it with a working (un blown) fuse.
It just amazes me how MB made a small light fuse give these huge errors....
I have Esp message daily and didnt find it yet. My w164 ML500 seems to have dozens of reasons that cause Esp message... pretty frustrating. 😣
So all the shops are close to get a new fuse is there a way I can switch out one of the same fuses and see if that works
Hello had the same thing on my w210 E class, turn out to be a 10a fuse in the overvoltage protection, it popped because of a noise filter at the back off the after market radio

I have the abs and esp light on my dash and for some reason my brake calipers are completely shut against my rotor will that be the same issue.
How do you check the fuses? How did you tell it was blown?
I'm not sure how I finally came about figuring out it was the fuses being blown and that was the issue, but I sure am glad I found out. Hope this helps

If the fuse is good I would check the starter
Fuses just dont blow for no reason. You still have to find what caused it to blow because its going to happen again. Things are never that easy unfortunately.
I just mat with such kind of problem: "ESP Mulfuntion-visit workshop" I did nothing, I just left it for some minutes and it was cleaned from my display, even some massages of light problems. Good luck!

I need help. I have a W211 2006 (Facelift). The car had contact (wrench fell on battery in the boot while driving) it blew main fuse the one connected to alternator. I fixed that and car is now working but dashboard functions (aircon, radio, Rear auto viser, rear headrests are not working. Fuses are fine. Recently changed fuse on radio and its now working but i dont know how to fix the other stuff that isnt working.

Had this issue. Fuse was fine, but I took out the esp module, and it was completely corroded. Even had some pins broke off from it. Would this cause the same issue?
Hey Bud, I have the same issue going on rn, I replaced my old battery with a new one, brought the car to the wash then parked it back home as soon as I parked it shut off while everything was still on, any advice on what it could be? It isn’t any fuses or starter or anything like that.
Took mine through the car wash and it's acting wierd. All lights come on fine until I start the car then headlights don't work, transmission power is cut off, radio doesn't work and ABS and ESP light comes on dash I think is because water goes into the fuse box under the hood on the driver's side. If not that then wheel speed sensors.
My current situation is car wont crank car wont start so I took my alternator out got it tested at AutoZone it failed so I purchased a new alternator and installed it I also replaced the battery in the trunk of my 05 e320 after taking it to get charged and "bad battery" appeared on the battery charger. Now that I have replaced the alternator and battery car still won't crank or start so now I'm checking all fuses and relays with my multimeter. ANY HELP WILL DO THANKS GUYS?
read the onboard odb2 codes then decide what expensive parts to change
@@glasser2819 thats if you have communication with the ecu....mine has none....will occasionally start when batt fully charged but then cuts out 10mins later.

I’m not sure why but I did get the message as I was driving. I tried to put cruise control again but it gave me the ESP message again. 30 minutes later i have cruise control again and no ESP message. I’d rather look into dat and replace a wheel speed sensor.

The esp keeps coming on on my daughters car but it is bucking and won't go or drive right either. So I don't see how it could be a fuse. Were you having trouble with the bucking as well? I assume not sense yours wasn't even starting.
I have the elect stabil prog not available. Whenever I turn the steering wheel it goes to the right and when I keep it straight it’s positioned on the right side or either way it goes all the way into the end when I go into a corner mayor problem and I don’t know what it is , the esp won’t go off the dashboard , and it’s making noise both front wheels ?
Anyone know why 2006 E-350 won't start? One rear tire ripped while driving. Went straight to get 2 new rear tires. Car drove for 10 miles. ESP light came on & Batteries are good. Fuses are good. Car drove 10 miles after new rear tires and now does not start. All lights comes on, gear can change. Engine does not start. Any idea how to fix this? Inheld ESP BUTTON for 5 seconds amd nothing happens. Can't be linked either. Thanks if anyone can help.
Check the rear tire that ripped if it didn't tear at the abs speed sensor

The ecu (pcm) was not communicating hence the no start...I guess the fuse is related to the canbus/ecu start sequence in some way?

In essence fuses not working will keep it from starting? I bought a new battery the other day and I've had to jumpstart still. I do have esp coming up but I also have some electrical things that do not function (passenger seat controls, heated seats)
we clearly see how little things can have importance... Benz reliability is not what it used to be!
Its your passenger seat power module its probably loose try unplugging it to fix problems but wont have passenger air bags
