Did you catch Trumps press conference today where he specifically addressed the cost of medications and that the PBMs are a problem. Also met with head of Pfizer and Eli Lilly over the weekend and had discussions about why we pay more for drugs than other countries. I’m hopeful Elon will be a good influence too.
@@ARCServicesLLCI appreciate your optimism. I did not vote for Trump, but I hope for the sake of everyone taking this medication, he moves the needle (pun intended) in our favor. 🙏
Christopher! I laughed so much at your Twinkie comment. In my early 20s I worked at a Twinkie factory…. It’s ALL corn syrup… the cake the filling ! They were all powders into which we mixed giant barrels of corn syrup… oh boy I was young and not obese yet.. and poor. I ate so much of that crap for free there.
Frankly, the idea of a once-yearly GLP-1 TERRIFIES me. 😱 🙀 “So Bob, how are those really terrible side-effects going?” “Doc says I should start feeling better by next spring.” 🤦🏼♂️
@@edsmale It’s more than a very few. If everyone had the option to titrate up SLOW, it would be a different story. But between insurance companies ‘playing doctor’ (“Titrate up every 4 weeks or we won’t cover!”), and the many doctors who think rapid titration is THE way to go… …yeah, we don’t live in that world yet. 🌎
@cloakster it is, statistically speaking, very few. The vast majority of "severe" side effects are from titrating FASTER then every 4 weeks. There are scores of videos from people titrating after 2 weeks. Or starting at higher then lowest dose, or skipping a dose altogether, then complaining about side effects. Or not changing their eating habits then complaining after eating their bucket of KFC. If you take out those who are not following the dose or time titration schedule, or continue to force feed themselves even when not hungry, or refuse the diet and lifestyle changes mandated by these medications (that the hunger and impulse control allow you to do), then then numbers of "severe" effects are indeed very small. Non severe side effects that are 100% manageable are also not severe. Someone who successfully lost weight to a healthy target and are on maintenance are obviously not severe side effects either. So a yearly shot would not apply to those with severe side effects, would certainly not be used as a starter dose, but would be great for those on long term stable maintenance
@Ed To quote JAMA: “The dropout rate due to inability to tolerate adverse events or other reasons was 7% in the STEP 1 trial and 13.5% in the STEP 8 trial over 68 weeks.” And FWIW, when I look at the clinical trial breakdowns, a dropout rate of around 7 percent due to adverse effects is pretty common. But have seen as low as 4 percent, and as high as 17 percent. 😢 In any case, these rates are not ‘very rare’. And were achieved on an ‘every 4 weeks’ titration schedule. 🤷🏼♂️ I do agree that an even faster titration schedule would be even MORE problematic. But, plenty of ppl on even good old-fashioned (and too fast) 4-week titration do report problems. It is something Novo and Lilly can and should fix. 😕
I know salt has been the demon for the last 30 years bit the thinking has shifted and now the rage is expensive electrolytes - which is most often salty kool aid with small amounts of other minerals
I believe that Vital Pursuit is actually Life Cuisine repackaged. It does beg the question re.: processed foods and the role they play in our overall health equation. I am a big fan of these quick meals, however, the amount of sodium and chemicals they contain surely play a part in inflammatory processes and the weight issue in the U.S. vs. abroad. Just my observations…as a frozen food junkie 😬
Mochi sent me an email about making a med request today. I just got a delivery last week. I think they are trying to get rid of inventory by the 19th before they are shut down. I hope not, but if they are allowed to stay in business any longer the price may go back up. I’m tempted to order but man it’s Christmas and I’m getting low on funds 🙁 I have a couple days to think about it.
LD : no, that is an automatic message after your membership fee processes (I think). That has happened to me before. I don’t think Mochi is too worried.
Honestly I think one is fine every once in awhile. I don’t eat perfectly all the time. Having one of these frozen meals is better than fast food or a candy bar.
@ better than a candy bar yes. As in 1 spoon of rat poison is better than two. But in no way are they healthy. That’s not even delving into the ingredient panel. True, no eats perfect nor should they. That is set up for failure. But these things should be acknowledged as a “cheat” meal, to satisfy a junk food craving. Rarely. Not as any sort of actual meal to seek out.
Rat poison? Wow that got dark quickly. These are definitely not a cheat meal. And anyway I don't even believe in the the phrase "cheat meal". It's a diet culture phrase.

Great advice, Kennedy!! And Arthritis patients should try to stay away from getting old. 🙄🙄🙄
😅
He should have stayed away from brain worms…and eating gravel.

CD: they believe they can dramatically increase the tolerability - it will be interesting to see how it evolves and changes

💜I appreciate all these news updates along with other content! 😊
Glad you like them!
Love the quick bite news updates. Sometimes I don’t have time for lots of articles and long videos to stay on top of news.
Thanks!!!!
Please remember that the Eli vials are a less expensive brand name option for those of us on Medicare.
Yes we know - we pay out of pocket for our meds as well
Lean Cuisines are my favorite. I wish all of these had less salt in them. That’s my only negative on frozen meals but I love the convenience of them.

Some of the Vital Pursuits do look like Lean Cuisine, but that some of them I think are new -

That is quite possibly the first thing Elon Musk has said with which I wholeheartedly agree!!

They are not sitting around with extra inventory piled to the ceiling
@@thedownsizedI would hope not. But they sure are trying to sell as much as they can. Makes me worry. I love that company.

Do you know if healthy choice makes vegetarian meals?
According to their website they do.
Healthy choice has over 20% of daily sodium. Over 40%…40%!! of daily sugar. Big nope.
was going to respond with the same. Have used Healthy Choice in the past but the sodium and sugar content showed me they were not very healthy!

Considering that there is a shortage in many places even if it gets cheaper it will be even more unavailable. Just my opinion.
That’s why they are spending billions to build new factories. My guess would be they will never catch up with demand
It took you guys 15 minutes to get to the point (around 15:18). And then you discussed it for maybe 22 seconds (up to 15:40).
