The most badass moment of the Indiana Jones franchise is when the slave children were pushing a mine car towards Indy and the light from it slowly reveals his determined face as John Williams' score heroically blasts in the background (the scene after the line "Right, all of us").
When Indy punches that Thugee guard so hard he slides back like twenty feet, one of the best punches in cinematic history and you don't even see the hit.

I genuinely like Temple of Doom the best in the series because it's the only one where Indiana Jones actually matters to the overall plot of the movie. In the other three films Indy doesn't matter at all, the Nazis would have all had their faces melted off, Donovon would have still chosen the wrong grail and or have taken it across the seal, and Spalko would've still burned to death via Alien mind melting.
@@Nibelungenherr1876 I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just think that a protagonist should be important to the overall plot of film, game, book, whatever. When things just sorta happen to a character it sorta removes a sense of urgency. That being said I will correct myself when it comes to Crusade, Indiana Jones wasn't looking for the grail, he was looking for his dad, like he said on the boat.
Yes, I have seen the same Big Bang Theory episode. Jones does matter, because if it was not for him the Nazi's would have never found the Ark (digging in the wrong spot). Also Indy was needed to return he Ark back to the secret bunker otherwise nobody would have been around to know its location. The amulet was given Marion by Jones. There is that angle you can use too, there is no way the Nazi's knew about that unless they tracked Jones, so he is pivotal.
As someone who considers Temple of Doom the best movie of all time I disagree. Crystal Skull is a great movie. It's just not as great as Temple of Doom. Then again nothing is.
I love Cinemassacre discussion videos, as there isn’t any nastiness. Just a group of friends that are good guys and having a nice civil debate. Keep up the great work!
Temple was and is my favorite of the original 3, and I loved them all. I've always hated the weird negativity thrown at it, which I never really heard until the late 90s.
Doom is on par with Ark for me. I was young when I watched it and absolutely love it, when you think of the trilogy, you think about the epic moments you recall. The bridge scene, the banquet, Kalimaaaaar etc . So in order, if I had to: Ark Doom Crusade
I wonder how my 4 year old daughter will react when I eventually show her Temple of Doom and she finally understands what it means when I do "Kali ma" on her...
Love both movies, have to give edge to Temple of Doom simply due to rewatch ability. It's just a fun adventure to revisit over and over again. Crystal Skull is unfairly hated, it's a really fun movie and stays true to the character and series.
@@ArkhamKratos I also agree! Temple of doom is my favorite Indiana Jones!! Raiders of the lost ark is my second favorite!! Last Crusade is my third favorite!! Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is my fourth favorite!!
Temple of Doom was my favourite movie by far. Kate Capshaw was hot, the soundtrack was the best of all the Indy films, and the action was the most fun. The Crystal Skull fridge scene does deserve all the hate it got. It was so over the top that it even broke the suspension of disbelief in Indy's fantasy world. The ending of Crystal Skull seemed like Raiders of the Last Ark only with aliens.
I like temple of doom too, and can look past the racism or sexism because he doesn’t feel that mean spirited. But I think there’s a difference between the “racism” in Blazing Saddles and temple. Blazing Saddles was co written by a civil rights activist and makes fun of racism and challenges stereotypes. While temple has it there as part of the humor.
I’d also like to say that even though you know I’m a girl I don’t find “everything goes” chick offensive, because I don’t really see her as a stereotype, but more of a type of girl(I know girls like her) like I don’t see her as them saying that all women are like this, but women like this exist.
I personally love when people start with the sexism and racism thing it’s like yeah it’s not a good representation of women and people of other ethnicity’s and I’m like look is it a good representation of Hinduism and Christianity and Judaism Of course not
In theory I'm pretty sure the knight Would periodically drink from the Grail to prevent death of old age. With that being said Henry Jones Sr would have to have drink from the grail periodically to keep on living but since he did not he died of old age (again in theory). And since the grail has healing abilities maybe those abilities stay with you for a time or until death of old age. And since he survived slamming into the ground (while in a lead lined refrigerator) which would kill any normal person from sheer force of the impact itself.
that's the point. You could not have made another indy vs nazis movie now because Harrison Ford is not a young guy anymore. Although fans would have loved to get a fate of Atlantis movie back then for sure. But you could not have Harrison replaced either and still franchise it being an Indiana Jones movie, because he is Indy. Imagine the dislike a movie sequel with another actor might get just for having this other actor. Indiana Jones chronicles anyone? Canon or not?
i was positively surprised that crystal skull was still in that old school style and quality which you normally dont see anymore even in sequels , just like die hard 4 its a solid addition to the series and feels like a movie from the classic era much more than i thought they would achieve

Temple of doom just feels like an awesome classic indiana jones movie, I don't think it's weak at all. But, I also liked the crystal skull as well. maybe not as much, but still pretty good.

5:10 If even Spielberg and Lucas say ToD is the weakest of the 3, then what possible argument could be made otherwise? @@Arcexey it's different than the others. Most people don't like an expectation to be not met and its really darker, more horror based. I love it for all of those reasons. Its Chinese Democracy, I love that record. Its super bad-ass but its not a typical GnR record.

Shortround is great nothing about his character is unrealistic or overly stereotypical just seems like a quick talking Americanized Asian kid
He's badass. He's competent. and he has a great relationship with Indy.
Shortround is the actual hero of the movie.
Pretty much any Asian kid learning another language talks like this

Not only Temple of Doom is objectively FAR better than Skull, it's also my favorite Indy film.
@Will Fryer 2 Why is filmmaking taught then? Why is writing taught? Is Spielberg a better filmmaker than Tommy Wisseu?
Raiders is my favorite, but it occurs to me that at least SOME people probably count ToD as their favorite. I have to think that absolutely no one would choose CS as their favorite.

Hasnt there ever been a movie or video game or musician that is hugely successful... but you just didnt like? This must have happened to you at some point.
Did you consider yourself wrong? I highly doubt it.
Hopefully you took the more healthy approach, and said "eh, guess its just not for me".
Thats objectivity vs subjectivity in practice.
You seem to be confusing that with popular opinion. If that, and it being taught, is your only criteria. Then at one point in time the sun being carried across the sky by a dude in a chariot, the earth being flat, and slavery were all objectively correct.
Hyperbole aside, you cant actually not believe in subjectivity right?.....
@@rwaggs81 its a tie for me between Crusade and Raiders. ToD is a close second. And Skull is like a funny comedy sequel to the originals that tried too hard to reference the originals. I enjoy watching it, but it’s definitely dead last for me. It’s a guilty pleasure movie for me
@@rwaggs81 Anybody who says ToD is their favorite is an idiot. lol
The Disney Indy ride is basically a combination of the Raiders opening and Doom, and I love it.
In reality it's a combo of all of them even if it was made well begire 4 and it works as a continuation of the story before 4 takesplace.
You speak almost like defeating of the villain is the same thing as the plot of the movie.
@@paulrippcord506 You're right, I didn't mean to be rude.
The man saved a village and rescued its children, all while wiping out an evil cult. Winner winner, chicken dinner
Like I said before. The answer is Temple of Doom.
temple of doom has Willie Scott which automatically makes it the worst indiana movie

Temple of Doom is a lot of fun. Just comparing it to Crystal Skull is an insult.
Absolutely. The entire show never should have aired
Crystal Skull is easily the worst film in which Ford was the lead actor.
As someone who considers Temple of Doom the best movie of all time I disagree. Crystal Skull is a great movie. It's just not as great as Temple of Doom. Then again nothing is.
crystal skull is way cooler and entertaining than temple of doom, temple of doom is probably the weakest of the movies
Temple of doom is an 80’s classic. It’s not even a debate
Temple of Doom, no contest
Why anyone would have to debate this is beyond me lol
The kingdom of the crystal skull was such a disappointment so temple of doom all the way

Yea I like 2 and 3 the best temple of doom is awesome
Doom is on par with Ark for me. I was young when I watched it and absolutely love it, when you think of the trilogy, you think about the epic moments you recall. The bridge scene, the banquet, Kalimaaaaar etc . So in order, if I had to:
Ark
Doom
Crusade
Kali ma, Kali ma, Kali ma, KALI MA!!!
I wonder how my 4 year old daughter will react when I eventually show her Temple of Doom and she finally understands what it means when I do "Kali ma" on her...
Temple of Doom, 100 times over Crystal Skull.
Why is crystal being compared to any Indie film? It just insults Temple of Doom.
Love both movies, have to give edge to Temple of Doom simply due to rewatch ability. It's just a fun adventure to revisit over and over again. Crystal Skull is unfairly hated, it's a really fun movie and stays true to the character and series.
Speaking of Dan Aykroyd, he was in Temple of Doom

Temple of Doom is actually set before Raiders.
Did James really say the music is better in Crystal Skull??? The music is SO much better in Temple of Doom.
It's joh williamsb it's all good.
John Williams phoned in TFA And TLJ scores and they still were decent
Love to see a Terminator 1 vs Terminator 2 discussion or Alien vs Aliens
Temple of Doom was my favourite movie by far. Kate Capshaw was hot, the soundtrack was the best of all the Indy films, and the action was the most fun. The Crystal Skull fridge scene does deserve all the hate it got. It was so over the top that it even broke the suspension of disbelief in Indy's fantasy world. The ending of Crystal Skull seemed like Raiders of the Last Ark only with aliens.
No time for love, James Rolfe.
Shortround was the best part of Temple, racism and all. I also love Blazing Saddles.
+B Chin Blazing Saddles was such a funny film, it was great.
I personally love when people start with the sexism and racism thing it’s like yeah it’s not a good representation of women and people of other ethnicity’s and I’m like look is it a good representation of Hinduism and Christianity and Judaism
Of course not
So maybe the reason he survived the nuclear blast in the fridge is because he drank from the Grail as a possibility
Excellent point.
But didn't they say the power of the holy grail does not extent beyond the cave it is in? It's been a while since I watched it.
If he has eternal life, why is he old?
fallen2pieces33 no its because the fridge is lead lined thats why they made it so he survived
Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones, no one could ever replace him
Who is this Han Solo?
Just like Sean Connery.
Let’s not have Indy be James Bond. Bond is a non-character.
* Young Harrison Ford
that's the point.
Ehhhhhh, there is an argument to be made there, but Die Hard 4 is the worst possible comparison you could’ve made
I mean lol, Bruce Willis fights a fighter jet on an overpass that’s collapsing all around him. Wayyyyyy out of the realm of reality that 1-3 were in
