- Takoyaki, or Octopus Balls is one of Japan’s best-known street food originated in Osaka.Takoyaki is very popular Japanese street food,hot snack, shaped like a golf ball that has crispy coating around the outside and soft filling inside, made of wheat flour, diced octopus, and ginger. Because of the octopus filling, foreigners like to refer takoyaki as octopus balls.
Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special molded pan. It is typically filled with minced or diced octopus (tako), tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, and green onion. Takoyaki are brushed with takoyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce) and mayonnaise, and then sprinkled with green laver (aonori) and shavings of dried bonito. There are many variations to the takoyaki recipe, for example, ponzu (soy sauce with dashi and citrus vinegar), goma-dare (sesame-and-vinegar sauce) or vinegared dashi.takoyaki たこ焼き

Wow! I was surprised when the takoyaki balls started rotating. It took me a while to figure out that the mold was vibrating to make it roll.

The first one I was like, WHAT? They use a spatula to scrape! Then the takoyaki started rolling themselves. I could watch all day. The next clip was like watching a praying mantis eat. She so fast. Last clip showed real takoyaki skill.

You can't be so anal retentive in some jobs. Speed is the name of the game in some circumstances. I've had a few of those types paired with me at my job and I always send them to another station, they slow me down immensely. I had one guy that took 15 minutes to do a job that literally takes 2 minutes because everything had to be just right. You just have to learn to adapt to other ways or do something else. It might bother you, but it will royally piss off customers and fellow employees.

@jia jia I think it’s because the middle burners are hotter; you can see they move the more cooked takoyaki to the edge :)

Why is a pancake sphere better than a pancake?...it seems like more work....These are skilled people noticing hot spots and turning delicately where a pancake is flipped. Is it more food per square inch of cookspace?
