@@CiegiLaPriest Thanks! Mine went well. But the first thing my first interviewer asked me about was responding to safety situations. So the next day my recruiter reached out and let me know that I have an offer coming for area manager. But they are also recommending that I look into health and safety. 😂 I got out looking to get away from the health field.

I just quit after 1.5 years as an area manager! I’m so proud of myself. My mental health went downhill. Extremely overwhelming. Was not worth It. It’s definitely not for everyone.

I'm older, have a degree and tons of pro experience after college but got burnt out in corporate world. I had other options but tried Amazon FC as a Tier I with the possibility of seeking promotion, thinking maybe it would be a better fit. After a year there, no idea why anyone would want to be an Amazon AM. I guess if you really just want to be a "manager" for professional appearances sake, it works. But everything about that role seemed negative. Depressing environment, horrible hours, frustrating co-workers, mentally and physically unhealthy. The insurance was nice, so I just stuck it out a few years, collected stocks, got a couple Career Choice certs and split the scene. No looking back whatsoever.

I'm going into my 5th week as an area manager and I feel so overwhelmed with everything. I still go into work feeling like I have no idea what I'm doing. For reference prime week was my third week after process training and it's all been very crazy. I'm trying to take it day by day lol.

Hi Rasheed, I am also an area manager and I’ll share what worked for me. I too was feeling overwhelmed when I first started. My best recommendation to you is to make your own standard work checklist. Spend time thinking about what you have to get done during the day and make your own schedule. I made mine an hour-by-hour schedule and it made the job so much easier. Be sure to include times for checking in with employees! Amazon has a SWC (standard work checklist), but I found that theirs wasn’t specific enough, and left out important details.

@@peytonkerns9184 Hey Peyton, thank you for the advice. One of my peers sent me a really in depth checklist and I had no idea what I was looking at. Making my own does sound like the best approach.

@@paradox_1999 my advice working here, learn from the managers around you. Reach out and get a mentor within the organization. Ask a lot of questions make sure they are good write down the answers. Understand the metrics what it affects and how the processes are affected.

I got out of the military in August 2019. Didn't start working for Amazon until March 2020 as a L1. I went through the campus next program for Area manager the process is going to end up taking about 7 months from interview until I start (August 2021) due to me not having my college degree until recently. They really do love military. As an area manager please listen to your associates. The easier you make their job the more productive they will be and it will be easier to make your goals as well.

I can understand being grateful for getting a job. But, I'm sure you would rather work as a medical tech. I know I would want to work in my field rather than be an area manager.
I have been an floor manager in the newspaper delivery route company. The main difference is that I got paid hourly, and I didn't have to do delivery routes, unless I was training a new person or filling in if someone had to take a day off. I have also worked in a warehouse.
It can be a trap if you stay there too long. I was a little lucky, since I have gotten something in my field since then, although it is at a lower level. But, it's still better than working in a warehouse. I am considering doing 1 semester of courses, after the pandemic, and I will see if that helps me move up.
It can be a trap if you stay there too long. Get something that you want to do.
