Kobe Bryant brought his 10-10 Lakers into a tough environment on the road against a 15-5 Mavs squad led by Dirk Nowitzki. Kobe was on fire in the first half with 27 points on 17 shots to help the Lakers take a lead into the locker room, while Dirk ended the half with 15 of his own. Kobe cooled down considerably in the second half, scoring 16 points on just 5-16 shooting. However, despite the dismal shooting in the second half, the biggest shot in the game would drop for Kobe as he hit a fade-away 29 foot three after nearly fumbling the ball out of bounds at the end of the shot clock to put the Lakers up 104-102 with 34.9 seconds left. This shot proved to be the dagger for the Mavs as they ultimately fell to the underdog Lakers by a score of 109-106. Kobe finished with 43 points and 4 steals while Dirk chipped in with 27 & 15.
