The choreography of this remains one the most amazing ever produced. It isn't just the idea of one vs ten. They took a selection of moves to show just how good he is, that he showed no mercy breaking bones, or overpowering people with sheer speed!
Usually his Wing Chun moves are "soft" and like "beautiful" to see, when facing other opponents. But on this scene, just from the moves we all know he's pissed. I think he's more pissed off in this scene rather than against the British boxer in 2.

One of the greatest fight scenes ever. He. Did. Not. Fuck around. He wasn’t up against light weights and he treated it as such. He actually showed mercy to the last fighter because he was scared. He smashed his face in but didn’t leave him with lasting disabilities like the others.

Actually ipman 4 is trying to explore racism given to chinese in the 60’s and how minor things can be used to deport them back to china (and the condition of china in the 60’s are not that good). And shows how they overcome racism.
Yeah, fighting became more and more unreasonable as the series went forward. They completely went overboard. The first part of the first movie is a bit goofy and looks like a classic "I challange you!" kung-fu movie but this second part with the Japanese invaders is deep and fighting here really had its meaning and reason behind it. The second movie had its moments (although it was a blatant Rocky 2-3-4 copy) and the coreo in the 3rd movie was astonishing. But the 4th was shallow, even Donnie Yen looked bored of it and it is a shame that Adkins' talent was wasted on that movie. One dimensional, boring, predictable.

i love the build up to the fight- ips emotion and anger was very well done but also the translators face when he is about to ask the stupid question of who wants to fight next, knowing ip will say yes, looks like he is about to cry after seeing one master shot and may see ip shot knowing ip could likely beat anyone thrown at him - i loved wing chun before it was cool✌
when he was talking to the guy through the bars, he was asking "why did they shoot him?" and when he was talking softy, he was asking "did they beat Li to death?", reffering to the guy earlier who was brutally beat by General Muira, and then probably beat to death by some japanese soldiers
He was brutally beat because after the match, he kept pushing his luck and trying to attack the general. The general kept showing mercy until he got spat in the face and he finally said fuck it and punched him with a attack that was lethal. Lin brought it on himself
Master liu was a true friend to Ip Man , this scene gave me the goosebumps, just seeing his friend shot dead in front of him is just horrible, but thank gosh that four eyes got what he deserved In the end

The Japanese empire from 1930 until the end of ww2 was very atrocious and barbaric, as the emperor just became a puppet for the military which committed the most heinous crimes known to man. The period of Japanese history from 1970 -1991 was the greatest, as the Japanese economy outshined the rest of the world

It’s very touching 🥹the scene. How it used to be, and still is to some regions, you still have to fight, but different way of fighting of course.
