    I'm of the mind that Zeke got Pandoria's speed. Think about it - she's known for hers, even down to her auto-attack speed-boosting skill 'Quickest Purple'. Zeke can move at a blistering pace, as shown when he first shows off Sonic Thunderslash, and then again when he dodges Jin, which Jin even points out as being impressive.
    He reacts and moves far quicker than any other human character we see, and what does Eye do when activated? Speeds him up.
    It's just a guess, mind, but I think it's pretty feasible.

    I wish they clarified how the method goes, like implant, stitch or actual eating it.
    Flesh eaters, I think, detoriate further or experience a big pain by using their power, due to them still being blades, they probably need a driver for them to get at max. Using their own power at max, I imagine it being the same as a human pushing themselves in an exercise and it will damage them if put too far. Or at least a sealed container pushing its contents out.

      Based on what I have seen from Jin, he died from overexertion which it really doesn't help when you take into account all his injuries that only began to stack up since chapter 7 to 9. Another good way to justify your theory is that Jin doesn't heal as well as he normally would.

      You can assume that from what we see in the lora and Jin scene that whatever ritual method he used it basically was just shoving his arm into her chest and I guess "absorbing" her heart into him. I mean blades are kinda made of light but also physical matter so idk, he just kinda used his hand to suck her heart up inside his body or something.

    One interesting thing I saw while replaying XC2 once was when I went back and talked to Minoth after chapter 9. He mentions that his health is worse since Amalthus died, meaning that flesh eaters are still connected to their drivers, at least a little bit. That could of course just be conjecture on his part, but I thought it was interesting, especially since it shouldn't be possible for anyone but people in Indol to know that Amalthus was dead. Anything outside of the World Tree at that point is technically not canon since Rex & co. wouldn't be able to leave what they were doing to screw around with some sidequests, but I think it's interesting.

    • @BabafiBafi
      @BabafiBafi 5 лет назад +16

      The canonicity of sidequests are weird in XC2. Unlike 1 or X, there's not many times in the story where it makes sense for them to stop and muck around with sidequests. Even times where its physically impossible to. (Like being able to fast travel back to Gormott or Argentum after crashing in Uraya.) The way I see it is that the information given is canon even if the party cannot canonically go there at that time.

    Mythra talked about transferring parts of one's core crystal as something any blade can do if they knew how, and that the taken piece would be symmetrical in shape. This implies one of two things. One, Rex is a "natural" Blade Eater, while all the others shown in-game are "artificial". Two, the "artificial" type is the only one that warrants the Blade Eater designation, and "natural" ones, regardless of the blade used, requires a different designation. Given the sample size of "1" in-game, it is probably best to call Rex a "Natural" Blade Eater and revisit the issue in XBC3. Or maybe XBX2, if one of the random landmasses that was scooped up to make Mira turned out to be a Titan.

    10:38 I don't think Jin's case is deterioration but it was more like he has taken excessive damage to the point where his own body can barely sustain any further. Also, it's likely without a driver, flesh eaters can't heal like Blades normally can and excessive exertion without a driver for so long can put huge strains on their core crystals as shown with Jin.
    16:29 I don't think that's true, Zeke gain a huge boost out of it, mainly the speed, higher durability with his apparent bad luck, and it may not be canon but his EYE OF SHINING JUSTICE.

    • @tacticianmagician4716
      @tacticianmagician4716 4 года назад +1

      With Jin I think his deterioration is due to his immense abilities as he always shows weakness after fighting, not due to damage but because his abilities harm him. Malos always stepped in while there or told him not to be reckless because he knew, easy battle or hard that it wasn't wise for Jin to fight. His crystal is definately damaged after he falls in the land of morytha but even before that his abilities are just too strong to a point where he can't use them excesively. It would make sense though alongside what you say in that he may well have lost his sustainability

  • @jujuthehoms5482

    There seem to be two ways, and I want to add how that affects the colour of their cores. Implanting with tech or shoving it in you, and eating. Minoth and Nia and the torna blades all have a mixture of blue and purple. The Blue is obviously from the crystal, but I believe the purple part is blood. We know the heart pumps and cleans/refreshes our blood and it stays nice and healthy. But if its somehow implanted (Nia eating flesh as she is called a cannibal by a soldier and Minoth by being injected with possibly blood) the blood stays stagnant with no where to go, which is why is turns purple and manifests in the core. Jin on the other hand shoved a human heart into his chest. We also know blades can recover from any injury (although he still has the scar). This says to me that Lora's heart is still working to an extent and he had a lot more blood which is why it covered his entire crystal. It remained red because it passed through his body. We know that blades still need to eat so they have a digestive system, the only thing we don't know if they have or not is a reproductive system. So when Jin installed Lora's heart his body may have integrated it into its own circulatory system, thus blood is continually refreshed and stays red.
    I also want to add as a side note that it may be impossible for Nia to die, at least willingly. Since she has such a massive regeneration ability that can even turn an immortal blade's cells into cancer at least until it refreshes, she may never deteriorate like Jin and Minoth did. We know Obrona could refresh Minoth as she could alter his ether flow, so Nia could keep herself from dying as long as she wants.
    As to why Jin couldn't open up his ether passages I'm guessing it's because he didn't know enough about biology or how to manipulate his cells to do so. (Going at the speed of light is relatively simple as its just make atoms go fast, rather than manipulating them in some complex way).

      @VanishEclipse4867 5 лет назад +3

      @@jujuthehoms5482 Um yeah if I may, the color of the blood on the core is not purple. The stained crystals from what I can really see are a mix of light blue and glowing red color stains around it. Perhaps the lighting obscures the color of said blood but I definitely see red. Personally to back or go against your theory now that I think on it, I don't think the blood is stagnant in one spot but rather it's mixed with the blood that Blades have being Ether. It's like how Ether would be poisonous to the regular living, I think blood would not mix too well with Ether which the former would dilute the other. However, I guess whether or not the Blade would deteriorate physically sooner or later depends on connection with Driver and Blade. The dilution would be negative or positive depending on relationship.

      The tech used by Torna which Akhos tried to tempt Cole with seems to be what Jin uses to heal himself. I think it makes a lot of sense that his flesh eater powers are what damage him. As a flesh eater he could die at any moment, his abilities are extremely powerful and have shown throughout the story to be something that hurts him, it's why Malos often took battles in his own hands when Jin was there. So perhaps he's not deteriorating per se but it's less the core crystal damage, more just him as a whole due to the abilities

    There is one major difference between Rex's situation and that of the other Blade Eaters. We see with Amalthus and Fan la Norne that even after the death of Fan, Amalthus still retains use of Fan's powers. Rex and Pyra are mentioned as being completely mortal in chapter 3, and that if one dies, so to does the other. More evidence that Rex isn't a normal Blade Eater. Additionally, Mythra states that when a Blade shares their core with their Driver, it takes on a symmetrical shape (the "x" in Rex's chest), but notices that Fan's missing piece wasn't.
    Also, while mechanically, the "Eye of Shining Justice" is only usable in NG+, Zeke regularly mentions it's usage in cutscenes. This could actually be a sort of "power" granted by virtue of being a Blade Eater. Plus, there's the whole "Thunderbolt" Zeke thing, where he's incredibly fast. In Leftheria, he launches the entire party in a flash.

    I feel like the human a flesh eater consumes must be a driver. You would think it would be more common if a driver could just tell their blade to eat someone and gain ultimate ability. We know for sure that Jin, Patroka, and Ahkos (and Rex, Zeke, and Mikhail) used their own partners with Minoth and Nia being the only unknown ones. Even though Amalthus is said to be Minoth's driver, it could just be a claim of ownership over him as his power wouldn't be different depending on who is using him at the time. Nia refers to the girl she ate and looks identical to as her sister, which is a parallel to Lora and Haze.

    And I guess you should've included Vandham while speaking about blade-eaters. "Another lesson for ya" was kind of foreshadowing for the whole blade-eaters thing. He stabbed himself with scythes, which are parts of Roc, and was able to use airbending against Malos and Akhos. So I guess he was kind of a blade-eater during his last minutes.

Although it uses the weapon rather than the core, and the fact that it harms the driver in the process makes it impractical as anything other than a last resort.

      Pandoria isn't even the only Blade whose weapon splits into multiple parts. Patroka has the same thing where her Lance of Ages can detach the handle into a staff that in her boss fight gets planted as the Weather Changer, leaving the actual blade that she instead uses as a sword.
      The thing about Pandoria just using the staff is also just inaccurate since she still uses the actual blade in her Specials as well, only controlling it telekinetically using the staff. Her level 1 is the _only_ Special she has that doesn't use every part of her Blade weapon.

    I'd think Nia would be a much more stable flesh eater compaired to the rest of them, mostly because of how far her driver (The Father) went to find a way to cure his daughter, and the connection she had in general with the daughter. I'd think the father would go as far as possible to make Nia last, and thats probably how Indol found out about Nia in the first place, as he likely stole information on Flesheaters. The others all appear to have done it while their driver was dead, or dying, while Nia becoming a flesh eater was much more planned out.

      @angeldude101 Год назад

      I'm pretty sure it's deliberately ambiguous. Many sources, including Luxin and the wiki, claim that her father was her Driver, but the game itself never actually says this. I personally prefer to believe that Nia was her sister's Blade. With how she talks about both, it could really be either; she got pretty emotional talking about her sister, but didn't seem to care as much about her father in the present day. In the flashbacks however, her father was the one that she was crying for rather than her sister, though this could just as easily be an "I need an adult" situation rather than an "I need my Driver" one. Nia also says that her father brought doctors from all over and spent all his money on finding a cure. It's never stated that this was in the form of Nia and Dromarch, but from the rest of Nia's recount, it sounded like she'd already been with them for a decent amount of time before this happened.

    Maybe the whole reason Rex was able to awaken the third sword was because he had the half of the crystal and was possibly a flesh eater. Just maybe it's an idea.

      The arc at Tantel and finding the 3rd sword - and subsequently breaking it - is part of the reason why Rex was able to regenerate a new one. The other reason is that between Mythra/Pyra and himself, there was balance where there wasn't when Mythra originally awakened only part of her power. The separation of her core might've made this balancing act easier to pull off, but that's why Rex was suddenly able to pull it off. Also I think him getting the new outfit helps channel her power and makes it easier for him to engage anyone else's blades - he is a Master Driver after all.

    What about blade eaters they live for 500 years and they look only 25 year older forAmalthus or mikhail and Zeke was 15 but still looks the same so blade eaters age extremely slowly or something?

    • @BabafiBafi
      @BabafiBafi 5 лет назад +3

      It could be that once they hit full adult they stop aging from there. Amalthus was still pretty young in Torna, as was obviously Mik. Whereas Zeke was already in his mid to late teens and probably had no more growing to do.

    I'd say Rex is either just the driver of an aegis or since the aegis are different to blades maybe an Aegis eater? I guess the difference between blade eaters and aegis eaters would be an aegis and an a.e share pain and a life? Also maybe aegis eaters would have better control of aegises' power than an aegis driver?

    Something that Nia got really lucky with is the fact that her power is regeneration/healing, which only got boosted by becoming a flesh eater. The biggest threat to most flesh eaters is their body deteriorating. Even if Nia can't heal herself, she can likely heal her sister inside her _reversing the deterioration she would otherwise face._ I can imagine that long after the events of Xenoblade 2, the only members of the party still alive would be Pyra, Mythra, Poppi, Nia, and all of Nia's blades. Non flesh-eater blades generally only have to worry about their driver dying, but when your driver doesn't age and can undo any damage sustained, it effectively makes the blade immortal as well aside from direct damage to their core crystal.
    Can anyone direct me to a fanfic where either 1) the story takes place after Rex and the other mortal party members have died, or 2) When Nia instead bonds with Pyra instead of Rex. (I remember seeing the latter on a Reddit thread at one point and I still want to see it.)
    P.S. Sundress Nia is my favourite costume pretty much solely because it just casually shows her corrupted core crystal.

      angeldude101 If I could make a counter argument with the people that would remain, we see Amalthus and Mikhail had survived for five centuries due to them becoming Blade Eaters. Given that Zeke’s a Blade Eater, it’s safe to assume he’s become immortal, but could still be killed, most likely in battle.
      On top of that, what’s stopping Nia from repeatedly using her healing on Rex to make him “immortal”?

    • @sanabashir8763
      @sanabashir8763 5 лет назад

      angeldude101 Rex and zeke will survive because they won’t age for thousands of years because they’re blade eaters like amalthus and mikhail who haven’t aged atleast 20 years for 500 years plus Rex is the driver of the master blade so he’s practically immortal anyways

    • @ethanator6015
      @ethanator6015 5 лет назад

      Sana Bashir I can buy that. And while Amalthus had claimed being an Aegis Driver granted him immortality, prior to the reveal of him being a Blade Eater, we could say that even though Malos stopped being Amalthus’s Blade.......Amalthus didn’t stop being his Driver, and could’ve been using the connection that still existed to continue existing.
      And Addam didn’t gain any perks to being an Aegis Driver, because the day he sealed Pyra and Mythra was the day they severed their connection. As for the phantasm that Rex met.....my best guess is that Addam sealed away a part of his consciousness that disappeared for good after meeting Rex.

    I would say that Rex fits the definition of a Blade Eater, but since his core crystal belongs to the Aegis he doesn't have to follow all or even any of the rules that apply to other Blade Eaters.

    15:25 Two of those Flesh Eaters didn't really amount to much, 'cause their cores got stolen early into the fight. So really, it's just two Flesh Eaters (Nia and Jin), Pneuma, and some of the other Blades that Rex's group resonated with.
    17:12 Except if you engage Pandoria onto Rex, he also uses the Big Bang Edge. I think it's more that the Big Bang Edge is the proper form of the weapon, but Pandoria can, and prefers to, shrink it down to a staff.
    Is Rex a Blade Eater? Personally, I'd say no, 'cause unlike the Blade Eaters we've seen, the Aegis crystal looks more like it's floating above his chest rather than being engraved into it. On top of that, when Pneuma sends the rest of the core to Rex, it literally falls off of him and lands on the floor, showing that it wasn't at all part of his body, it was just connected by some sort of, I guess you could call it, Aegis magic.

      Jin and Nia seem to be the only ones to get a transformation out of the deal and they both go in opposite directions. Nia gets a less powerful form to help her blend in as a Gormotti, while Jin gets a more powerful form.

    SPOILERS FOR XENOBLADE 3!!
    Nia has to be, by far, the most powerful flesh eater, possibly even one of the most powerful beings in existence, and easily rivals an Aegis power in terms of combat abilities. The fact that she can control the cells of any being, and herself of course, is insane and so under looked. I also say this because in Xenoblade 3, she ‘literally’ gets impaled straight through the heart, from Moebius D’s wrist spear(?) as an extremely fast projectile as, she’s waking up and turns out she is completely fine, only feeling a little discomfort after swiftly regenerating her cells back off-screen(because she says “ow ow ow” as she rises from her chamber). I honestly am convinced she is an immortal flesh eater because of this because she can just regenerate the parts of her body that would naturally start to weaken as she grows in age.
