- Join me for part 5 of 8 parts, as I continue to open a sealed Wax Box of 1977 Star Wars Trading Cards. Re-dic-ulous! (*ridiculous) too much fun.

Well, aren't you a dirty devil! You got more Lukes than cat messes in that video, if my count is correct! Pretty great box! That Grand Moff from the first pack looked like it had a lot of white specs/snowing in the dark part of the image, but hard to tell. Some great cards overall...might have seen a couple PSA conTENders in there!
You got the count right! Hahaha! I’ll take 2 Luke’s over 1 Han Solo throw up all day long (yes, our cats name is truly Han Solo). Mayne he was feeling jealous 🤷🏻♂️😂. I’d love some 9’s out of this box…. that’s all. Hopefully that’s not too high of expectations. Thanks Ryan!

The standout from this pack rip is card #44 “Han and Chewie shoot it out!” At 13:03. Centering and surface looks good, image is just a tad rotated (thinner blue border at top on right side than left) but it has so much eye appeal and overall solid centering that it could get a PSA 9, possibly a 10 if that bump at word “Han” you’re seeing isn’t a significant surface issue. Couldn’t see it well in the video. And that’s a…
Nice Luke rookie rendition you pulled at 5:47. As you mentioned it’s not centered from top to bottom as image is high up. And there is a yellow ink print line bleeding through along top interior black border line. But the surface is very clean and corners/edges are clean. That could get a PSA 7.
The second Luke rookie you unveiled at 18:41 - the image is over-rotated (diagonal-ed) and mis-cut, which is why the left side border is much thicker than the right side…especially near the bottom area on the right side border. The border area just gets more narrow coming down on the right side. However, the surface is super clean and looks to have sharp corners/edges. That could get a PSA 8, at least a PSA 7. I agree with you, I think this one is the best of the 5 Luke rookies you have at this point. A lot of overall eye appeal.
The #15 (Artoo-Detoo is left behind!) you pulled at 4:19 is a nice card but it has a yellow ink print line running along the right interior black border and it’s a bit off-center to the right. Still a very nice overall card.
The Tarkin #60 at 5:17 has a yellow ink print line running along the top interior black border. And has some surface white speckle. But other than that, it’s a very well-centered card.
The #35 “Luke and Han as stormtroopers” at 9:41 is a good one, just has a yellow ink print line along right interior black border line. But it could get a PSA 9.
This box keeps giving you great cards. You’re so lucky to have already pulled 5 Luke’s! Wonder how many more you’ll get in the final 12 packs.
Love the breakdown per usual… so appreciative of your thoughts. The bill for this submission is going to be nasty. But I feel I just have to do this box justice and send the best that I get in… I’m sure I’ll snag a few 7’s… but I think I’m going to go for a slabbed set. Then I can slowly upgrade throughout the coming years. A fun project to say the least. I’m going to revisit these cards plenty I’m sure. Thank you so much! I hope you’re right! Even on the Luke’s… I know these aren’t Gems…. but the box as a whole, is really nice I think.
Great pulls!! I have a theory on that Luke sticker for sale. The same seller has ten cards for sale with about half being stickers that are pop one gem mints. They had to have replaced the backer of the stickers somehow. No gum marks and no color fading on the backs. Still got through PSA though. One more Luke for sure in your box. Keep it going!
That’s a great observation on the stickers. How are some stickers without gum residue and some are completely covered? Were the gum sticks always against the sticker backs in all packs? Were the higher graded stickers pulled early on vice decades later?
@@keithsetliff4349 the reason why there are many stickers with clean backs that get graded is because this stickers came from packs that were opened by collectors in 1977 and 1978 where the gum wouldn’t leave any residue or mark or stain on the backs. The gum was so fresh that it wasn’t stuck to the sticker. I know this as I opened many packs back in 1977 and I still have the stickers and all have clean white backs.
True they may have been pulled in '77 but almost impossible to store without some browning on at least the edges after 45 years.
@@iamtheprotagonist I opened all my cards back in ‘77 and ‘78. My stickers are clean. Sent a few into PSA, hoping to get a decent grade! Fingers crossed!

It's weird that the cards are all one-star but the stickers (at least some of them) are two-star
