so much of this is so COOL I love the way that the blackness of Nightmare Moon like CRACKS through Luna's blue, and then the way that the magical glyph designs morph into her armor and gradually grow down her neck like it's something alive
That's not daybreaker, that's just elements light because daybreaker's eyes are black and orange, not completely yellow and celestia can't turn into daybreaker cuz she's just starlight's nightmare, that's canon, I don't like how people always think celestia can turn into something that's just a dream of some pony
@Ariamane-w7d well its not *just* Starlight's nightmare, in the comics (which are also canon) Starswirl the Bearded has access to other dimensions, one of which has Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon as it's tyrants, meaning technically Daybreaker is real.

Which would be a weird AF response if you went into someone else's subconscious and saw a dark version of yourself that someone else just cooked up out of the blue, no? The Episode Princess Twilight Sparkle all but confirms that Alicorn magic is basically dark magic in its raw form, with Twilight getting Sombra eyes while using it to activate Zecora's potion. And then there's Equestria Girls, which shows excessive Equestrian magic corrupting humans. A little makes them their worst self, a lot makes them monsters, and the Elements makes them demonesses- which is the same source of power that is implied to have helped Twilight ascend. Thus, its very likely that ALL alicorns have an inherent dark side, and Daybreaker is Celestia's. I imagine Starlight likely caught wind of her from a conversation with Twilight, about one of the many apocalypse timelines she caused in Season 5. We didn't see them all.

She canonically would have had pink hair in this, since this is before the 1000 years of time she spent doing all the royal work herself. When Luna came back from being nightmare moon, she was shown to be in a smaller, weaker form. Likely because the two were less strong before the 1000 years

I love how the lyric "Guess I'm not a threat" has two completely different meanings throughout this animatic. The first time (at 1:10) is moreso meant as a reflection of how pathetic she feels due to her envy of Celestia. Despite all of her attempts, she's only a frail imitation of her, so she can never expect to rise to her level (and should perhaps stop trying). She's in denial now, either because of Nightmare Moon's control or just out of a destructive delusion that was born out of a real insecurity of her's (on display during the first utterance of this lyric).
I love how you drew Luna so well and showed her sadness. The song totally fits in this art video, so good! I love it when Luna tried to dress up as Celestia and where she said her room's better without her, to show her lonelyness. And the Nightmare Moon transformation is just soooooo pretty (im a Luna fan)

Even way before seeing this, it was essentially my headcannon aswell (even up to Luna genuinely seeing Celestia as comforting, as she truly is, just not at the time, thinking she lost her (0:36), and in sane future when she remembers past events(2:11)), except Luna really hates Celestia (and not only) for all sorts of reasons, instead of just feeling inferior and only violently wanting her to give it up (1:30, Luna looks at her past wish from sane future), although then in both my and this headcannon the actual horror during banishment night is amplified by Luna's overall poor state. Really really love this!
The Tale of the Two Sisters is absolutely peak fiction and I love seeing artists putting their own spin on it. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this tragic conflict.

I love that you showed Luna's descent as something gradual, how she was consumed by loneliness and got preyed upon by her darkest thoughts as a result, until she broke and it consumed her. I really like the imaginary that the armour formed to cover the cracks in her as her mind fractured. Marvellous detail. ^_^

The only part of MLP I've ever enjoyed was the chemistry of the celestial sisters. There's something about it that is just so capturing. Beautiful work, and the music is just perfect for Luna. Keep doing what you love because it's awesome! ^^
