I would love it if you started trying out less expensive brand's of everything, from pencils ✏, to acrylic paint, that even includes media paper 📃 and etc. This was a great and honest review.
When you said “it’s not a hedgehog,” I immediately said, in the most enchanted voice, “It’s a bloop! It’s a floofy bloop! So, that’s my suggestion. Floofles the Bloop. Adorable, by the way!
For the colored pencils… I’ve never used these before but is it possible the reason they kept breaking is because of how sharp you made them? Even the lightest pressure seems like a lot for those tiny sharp tips… As always, I love your videos! Thanks so much for sharing your opinions!!!
That’s what I was thinking too because those there very tiny points and only that section was breaking. The rest never broke. They seem like decent colored pencils!
I use those coloured pencils all the time and they rock. They are not lightfast at all (did my own test), but the blend beautifully and I've only had one lead break during sharpening. And my pencil leads don't break when colouring, but I have a lighter hand with art. And I tend to hold pencils to the side when colouring to preserve the point.
Thank you for this input! Thats the main difference between cheap and pricey, the lightfastness. make a nice drawing, hang it on the wall and less than a year later it's all bleached...
Foofles is adorable! I think I see what's going on with the breakage on the color pencils. They're oversharpened. Super sharp points on soft core colored pencils just tend to break more easily. It might be worth looking at those pencils again using slightly broader points!

@@MiraByler and thanks for putting that tip about the markers in the video, cuz I have alcohol and I was wondering if water based or alcohol based markers, is better for blending 🥰❤️🥰.
I've hear so many different reviews on the pencils that it is really hard to know if they are good or bad, not that i need more pencils but they seem like something to get for my niece to practice with 🙂
Hi there! I have heard a lot about these pencils and my cousin owns the 72 set of them! He says that they seem to work really well, have lots of pigmentation and you don’t need to do much layers for a clear colour!however, the gold is apparently really ‘scratchy’ and they don’t blend supper nicely! However it depends on personal preference and what they will be used for - great range of colours and many more great factors to be considered! Hope this helped in any way 😀
Mira mentioned they're priced between crayola and prismacolor, and I'd say that applies to the quality, too. Probably closer to the crayola end of the spectrum. I'll sometimes grab one if I want a specific colour I lack in another set, but they're not on par with better pencils. If your niece is young and not overly experienced, I think they'd be fine; but if she's geared towards colouring more seriously, something a bit higher quality would be nicer.

I think the pencils are breaking so much because it probably got smashed during shipping, amazon ships stuff really terribly sometimes, especially with art supplies even if they're high end. It's the same with any colored pencil, the leads break inside if it's handled incorrectly. Maybe try running it over with a heat gun or put it out in the sun for a while for the cores to fuse back together.
One really good cheap art supply company that has their stuff on Amazon is Stationery Island. Their stuff is really quite cheap but really good as well! They even do cheap alcohol markers, and they're amazing!
I was really hopeful for the markers, because I LOVE my Tombow, but they are so gosh-darned expensive. It’s unfortunate they are so streaky. I’ve tried a bunch of different water-based markers, and most of them are streaky, but Tombow are the least streaky I’ve tried (other than the Arteza watercolor brush pens, but I can’t control the brush tip that well compared to the Tombow). I call my cats Floofles, sometimes! Such a cute name.

This was a fun video. I especially liked watching you doodle, even though I clicked on this because I was really interested in what you thought of Amazon art supplies. I am not so sure about monopolizing all products by any company. I like review videos and comparison videos because sometimes the results are surprising. Sometimes someone decides to actually make quality affordable again. Then it is worth supporting them. Also sometimes I bought something and have no idea how to use it and both these videos help with trying new art supplies. So yes, these are great videos. I love watching you make art. So, so happy you drew a darker skin toned girl. She came out amazingly and it is inspiring because all skin tones are hard, but darker ones are harder. Her dress is so amazing with her skin tone. It encourages and inspires me to try copy it and learn. Thank you. I am a big fan of yours and would love to see you paint on a gold canvas.

I got them when I was just getting started, before I got to into art, and the pencils where great for me at that time. The drawing kit is great, it only goes up to a 3B in soft pencils, but the charcoal and the kneaded eraser are all great.

You have to do more of these Amazon artist products or even kids art stuff. Thank you so much. Ice pack for my back time lol.
the only reason the lead breaks *_so much_* is because it's oversharpened. with a little bit of force on pencils that are too sharp, it can easily break the pencil's lead. so it probably would have been better if you left the pencils the way they were, and then it would have not broken as much as it did.
If you’re just starting out or must keep to a budget these Amazon art supplies look like they would be fab to use. Me? I’ve been “arting” for a while and have gotten to where I’m either using the “old dependables” Prismacolor or Polychromos the most. They are the most available with a wide range of colors…and can sometimes be found (Prismacolor may be sold very discounted….check Target for reasonably priced sets) on sale and you can get individual colors as you may need them. I do have other sets…some cheap and some higher priced and I use them some too. But for my “bread & butter” work, I’ll just stay with Prismacolor or Polychromos for now. (If I have $300-$400+ sitting around could I be lured to buy a full set of Caran dAche Luminance or Derwent Lightfast? Maybe, but would my work reflect the more expensive pencils? That’s a toss-up.)

Hi! Thanks for testing out the products. Since you liked the dual tip, water-based markers, how does it blend with water? Just curious now since they are such a great price!
I recently needed some new pencils so I thought I’d try the Amazon Basics I was shocked by how good they were. Now I’m watching Amazon Basics pencil crayon reviews because I gave away my prismacolors to my adult daughter who started colouring. I know what I’m going to buy and check out
I'm really interested in the brush pens, they look like they'd be a good dupe( especially since it gave a holder too) for tombow and when you go though a color you can replace it with towbow
Yes! They feel a lot like Tombow, but Tombow has achieved a lot softer colors. That's an excellent idea to slowly replace them with Tombow markers. I might actually do that. Thank you!!
I'm interested to see that a stand was included in the marker set, but I thought that double- ended markers should be stored horizontally, to keep the ink available at both ends... I keep my markers flat in a tin on it's side, so I can pull out the colour I want to use.
i have amazon basics paintbrushes, They are actually really good. when i got them i bought them myself. they are really good they have lasted really well (i do on,u just use water couler🥰)
I received my color pencil set in a box with other items so was picked good. When I order just pencils, they are in a plastic type envelope and break over and over.
Great review video Mira! I do think the water based markers remind me a lot of the tombows just by looking at them. I haven't gotten to try them yet, but they do look very similar. I don't think I would want to try the colored pencils just because of the breakage issues. That tends to drive me insane, I love prismacolors, but their breakage has made me rage quit a piece for the night many times lol. One day I would love to invest in a similar type of pencil of better quality. They are all just so pricey lol. Thanks for doing a great review of these!
What do you think of Kinderart brand? I'm homeschooling my 6 and 8 year old grandsons and this is very affordable for them! love, love, love your show!

I would buy and use all of these, they seem pretty good for cheaper supplies. I don't think they have them here in Australia, hopefully soon!
Floofles looks so cute! Haha i loved what you did with these art supplies. Im tempted to get some myself now… i do have an art supply addiction though 👀😂
😂 I would love to see what you make with them!!
We girl bk it again with another creative youtube video idea love u Mira😊😊
It is weird, as I am in Australia and I have never seen Amazon basics listed here. I am always a little intrigued about them when I see creators like yourself using them.
I use the Amazon electric sharpener and have been using it for a year. It works very well and is still going strong for over a year now.
What is your favorite journal that will take layers of gesso, Mixed Media, watercolors, etc. That doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I need to buy three 9x12's.
I look forward to the Adventures of Floofles. So cute!
Can’t wait to watch this! Love your videos!!! 😄
Hope you enjoy it!

Mira, as always, thank you for making such awesome and informative videos. Thank you for feeding my obsession with art supplies/stationery lol
I know what I’m going to buy and check out
Do you have any cheap alcohol based markers you would recommend?
I'm really interested in the brush pens, they look like they'd be a good dupe( especially since it gave a holder too) for tombow and when you go though a color you can replace it with towbow
Yes! They feel a lot like Tombow, but Tombow has achieved a lot softer colors. That's an excellent idea to slowly replace them with Tombow markers. I might actually do that. Thank you!!
@@MiraByler Thank you for the review!
I'm interested to see that a stand was included in the marker set, but I thought that double- ended markers should be stored horizontally, to keep the ink available at both ends... I keep my markers flat in a tin on it's side, so I can pull out the colour I want to use.
i have amazon basics paintbrushes, They are actually really good. when i got them i bought them myself. they are really good they have lasted really well (i do on,u just use water couler🥰)
u really give me good vibes and i also really want to buy and try those amazon basics pencils and markers too
Thanks for the video! I love Floofles!
I was doing a zen-tangly type thing and my foneliner DIDN'T RUN OUT!!!!! U bring me luck MIra!!
You should do a video with you doodling, its so satisfying! 😍
Question, with the markers, given that they are water based, if you use a damp paintbrush, do they blend and do the streaky lines disappear?
I'm a bit behind, but I have to agree that Floofles is adorable =)
Yes to Floofles!!!!!❤❤❤
O adore your hedgehog. He is so cute and honestly that's how I would draw a hedgehog. It's clearly a hedgehog... and so sweeeet... love it...
please do a video on unexpensive art supplies!!! also.. more art supplies videos!!!
I broke one of the pastels in my set too. They are pretty thin but still works nicely.
The pencil kit is great! I got it for my birthday and it’s amazing unless your dog eats the eraser
Haha, sorry to hear about the eaten eraser!
