I find sending best offers - or having best offers just makes people come back with the cheapest they can get away with.

Just discovered your channel and love your analysis of the issues we face. I've "heard" offering Best Offer ranks you higher with Cassini. And those deadbeat buyers often have low feedback. So I've decided to still offer Best Offer but only accept if the Buyer has Feedback buyer ratings of 100 or more and no false positive feedback for non payment.

I have no way to prove this, but I think that having best offers on, which inevitably will mean you have to say "no" to a lot of buyers, can hurt you. If eBay's algorithm/AI, (whatever it is,) sees you turning away a customer, I don't think this is going to make eBay want to present your listing to people before other more successful options. I just played with best offers recently by turning it on for EVERYTHING... Let's just say it did not help.

Ok, you make great points. I know there are PLENTY of sellers who are successful without best offers. I think with ebay category matters. The examples you showed with no B/O are sku items and the market calls for a certain price with little room for deviation. For other categories like used clothing (which I do) the market can vary a bit more. Walmart, Target. Best But sell new items with skus. Set market price and if not- they have a sale. Used clothing is different. I sell over $15k/mo and the people who dont pay on best offer is minimal. I dont waste time on worrying about low ball offers. Instead i use that energy to list more.

Great video, thank you! I really like that you have a spreadsheet... if I keep on doing more, I'll create a spreadsheet to track purchase prices so I can know break even and all that you mention.
Do you have thoughts on best offer where initial offers are ignored. I've heard some sellers ignore initial offers because they like to wait to see how an item incubates. It does not sound unreasonable ... I've made offers before that were not answered ... they were not bad but just want I could afford... the non-answer seemed weird as a buyer but when I hear seller's perspective, especially medium/large or pro sellers, seems reasonable... they're just ignoring the noise until things feel right... seems that way. Do you still avoid offers? Would you ever use offers and ignore initial or ??

The top ecommerce store do not have OFFERS because they sell in very high volume (hence why they are top). If the sell high volume it would be VERY difficult to manage all these offers for them without hiring more people, especially if it is run by a few people to max it's profit's. So I can see a big business not offering offers but us small businesses need every possible sale to make some decent money! I come back to that it all depends on your situation. I appreciate your info as I learn!

Best offer (perspective of a seller) is both good and bad. I accept what I consider it a good offer and sometimes it is so low I may counter to what I want for the item. Rarely the item is sold to someone else who BIN or offers higher at that same time. It do not mind it puts control on both sides to get the best price we want. BUT it is more work to check the offers and respond, it is not automated buying and selling system. That is business in Ebay and it depends on the items and what you want to do in your business. It gives flexibility in running your store which is always good to accommodate more buyers and sellers.

You make some good points but would you rather sell items at a bargain price and get more money to buy new inventory as well as free up space for new inventory. Its actually real EASY just use best offer where your still making profit, if y our not then keep the original price.

I hate the watch system. eBay's answer to everything is give money off. It's an unsustainable business model. Now because of the sheepish eBay community, people are trained to sit on your listing expecting money off. It's disgusting

Here we are, 2 years later, and now all buyers sit on items until they get a 75% off offer. Like you, back then, I said the same thing, "send offers" was the worst thing Ebay implemented. They're created a Pavlovian Response system...buyers only accept if they're getting the item for practically free.
Remember, Ebay makes money either way, even if the seller doesn't.

pro tip: Your using a side address mic i see your addressing the tip like a "classic" style mic. The capsule actually captures the sound right above the "blue" logo thats facing the camera you essentially should be speaking into the mic at a 90 degree angle speaking at the blue emblem on there to get the best sound and not peak as its doing in this video. (using the polar pattern that looks like a heart set your dial to that) Much better audio quality that way. Thank you for the video

I was thinking the same way. besides, each time you send out a counteroffer you wonder how this is affecting eBay's algorithm?

I know this is an old video. I have never looked at a sellers other items and or how long they have been on the platform before buying from them. Yes, one picture and/or stock pictures I'm going to skip over. Then price. Then how close they are to 100% feedback.

Some of these damn buyers have no shame. You dont see Amazon offering you a discount on items they cant sell. Instead, they have a different palette model they discovered early in their business model which works for them. Cant sell it or its a return? Create a palette. I HATE SEND OFFERS. I'm tired of getting them and having to drop my prices 20% or more just to sell the item. Even that does not pursue the person to buy because they are low ballers. I was selling about 100 sports cards on my store at 1.99. Can you believe i had watchers and people who want better deals than that? I was shocked. I'v turned mine off. The only offers i have send offer on are items that have obvious flaws on them. Items that are in perfect condition do not have send offer on them. Also, if im selling something for 39.99 i CAP the offer at say 32.99 which means im not willing to go lower, end of story. That way i usually only get offers from genuine people who actually want to make a deal. Can you believe Ebay stole this idea from Poshmark? They were the first too offer it and Ebay copied it.

Best offers work depending on the business model. If you want to convert items fast so as to bring in consistent daily income, best offer would be a good way especially if you list your items around the current average sales price, in my experience.

I don’t care if sellers do not have that best offer option . I still reach out and I have saved some money. It also allows me to see how good is there customer service response. If they give me an attitude. They lost be as a client. Adiós 👋.Seller

There are benefits with best offers. The reason why you would do this is because the buyers are *trying to save money* or trying to trick you for a cheaper deal. However, this doesn't work too well if your profits are small, and the buyers offers a price under what you bought it for. For this reason, is why I turned off my best offers. I had my shoes for sale $37.99 then there was an offer for $28 which was under what I bought the shoes for including Ebay fees, and it was a really good deal when I bought it. Luckily the size was too big. Then another offer came in, it was $30. I counter offered $35 then he offered again for $32. This made me barely a Dollar profit. 🤣🤦‍♂
*Best offers are turned off for now* . Maybe it will work if your profits are large or just getting rid of your item. But if turned off, it gives less chances of selling sadly on Ebay. One more thing, I wish I can do free shipping, but it would harm my profits further if I did. 🤣

I tried to buy something through best offer it was $62 and I offered $50 maybe I was wrong in offering that much I don't know but if you expect me to just ask for a $1 or ¢50 off then why are you using best offer?

Best offer function is supposed to be a way of haggling for a better price! Unfortunately, on eBay using the best offer option for a buyer comes with eBay requiring me to give them a default payment method! They pulled that on me on my 2nd round of submissions for Best Offers to a seller that let my initial offers expire. On the 2nd round of offers I made I was required to add that default payment method that I DID NOT NEED to on the 1st groups of offers. The theft in this was that by doing this eBay AUTO-CHARGED me on my eBay mastercard when the seller accepted the offer negating my ability to review for combined shipping. I buy comics & I never buy one at a time! The seller I recently made offers to has his shipping calculator add 50 cents to the base shipping rate after the 1st book. Using the Best Offer option ended up costing me more because of the AUTO-CHARGE after the seller accepted the offer. What it did was charge me full BASE shipping for every book. I'm currently in the process of cancelling the purchases & waiting for the seller to approve of the cancellations. He was confused about that happening too. I basically went about cancelling my other offers after removing the payment method & contacted the seller as to why! I still use Paypal to pay for what I buy & the eBay mastercard was supposed to be my optional payment method...
