Possibly the best I’ve seen from anyone. Think the materials used to build it underneath actually go some way to adding to the realism, even though you can’t see them. It just feels more natural and as for the detail, it’s so well done. Very inspiring even though I don’t have the space to have a model railway, if I did I’d definitely be using the techniques used in this vid as opposed to other ways that I’ve seen that admittedly do the same job in different ways but there’s just something about this that chimes with me.
I must repeat to one of your replies yours is the best Ive seen plus the corner uve done Ive seen on somewhere on our railways and it really came to live with ur tecniques well done🥇👍
So I was randomly searching for static grass guides and stumbled across this video. You're extremely well spoken. You're giving clear and concise instructions. I've watched this video 3 times already and finding new ways you've done something each time. Extremely looking forward to more videos from you :)!
Your channel popped up as a recommendation, I have to say that of all the railway modelers I watch here on YT, in my humble opinion your layout and scenic detailing is the best I've seen. I mean the grass looks exactly like 'real' grass and the patches of paint on the concrete where graffiti has been painted over - as well as everything else - superb.
very instructive tutorial...many thanks. Looks lovely. I particularly like your method of hillside and embankmentt formation. No need for heat for styrofoam heat cutters etc.
The attention to detail is just incredible. I work on the railway and even just looking at the verges and the foliage, you can just see the tuffs of what look like Japanese Knotweed, Balsam etc. It's just perfect. Even the palisade fencing as per NR standards. Ha. Its a work of art this mate.. I'm wanting to start my own model railway and your videos are so amazing. So thank you.
Oh, good heavens ! I wish I’d found your channel six months ago ! Still, I’m here now and will be clicking on that subscribe button next. Thanks for this, it’s really given me some motivation to get on with some scenery that is the next job to do on Phase 1 of my model railway.
Just came across your channel, and subscribed immediately! Superb scenic work and use of grasses and foliage. An absolute pleasure to watch, gives me inspiration for my layout!
Wow ,at the beginning I had to look twice at the pictures, i thought that it was the real thing !! Im going to subscribe for more tips . Really good stuff. 👍😁Regards Frank
Totally AWESOME !!!! Just came across you vid and have to say that it is awesome. I thought mine was good, but you have given me a new perspective on the all importance of minor detail. Excellent work, I will be following you. Cheers, Rick the Bulldog
Incredible. It's so perfect and beautiful to look at. I always struggle of picturing where i want things and the finished product so its difficult for me. Youve got a good talant here.
Personally, I think this is the best scenic modelling I've seen. Outstanding. One small criticism, is that your evergreen trees are too regular, and spruce trees kill all the grass beneath. But aside from that, absolutely incredible work. Brilliant.
I've seen a fair share of similar videos but have to say this one was exeptional. No doubt it is a work of an artist yet the simplicity in it is inspirational. I love the contour layeing method. I have work with polystyrene (very messy, not easy to glue) and cork ( flakes / chips ) away too easily. The layering of grass is interesting but I have one questions?: Is the Grass Layering spray -- glue spray?
Can you give me a good website where you bought the scenery from? I’m wanting to build a model village and always looking for good stores. Amazing work.
Hello, really cool way creating track side scenery. Really pleased on how it's turned out for you. Can I ask where you bought the trackside electrical relay boxes from? I can see 1 from Peco Landside but the rest I can't seem to find.
@@WickfieldLaneJunction Thanks for the prompt response. Can also ask where you bought the electric cabinet with the large (what looks like) some form mobile mast on a gantry from that it's in the video?

Hi Mark, I’m glad you like the simplistic look 👍🏻 the smaller AWS boxes are made by Wills Kits, the larger grey building i think you refer too is a GSM-R mast made by ‘3D printing corner’
got back into railway modelling 2008 with 00 now into 0 gauge after going to lots of shows over the years this is the best static grass and embankments i have ever seen, really helpful sometimes wish i had stayed with 00 what is the size of your layout thankyou again for the tips best regards keith.
Beautiful work man. Quick question though, how did you detail your track? Did you just add dirt and static grass? It looks almost painted in some places. It's a work of art all the same though, keep up the good work man!
Thank you 👍🏻 the track is airbrushed on this layout, on the current build I’ll be trying to paint the rails and not go over the top with the airbrushing this time
@@WickfieldLaneJunction I like it though. I know not every rail is the same in real life, but the subtlety of the paint on top makes them feel natural here. The places I volunteer at as well as most tracks around home tend to be rusted all over so your light dusting has given me some inspiration.
When RUclips decides to support and promote a channel, it takes off. Yay! We need you.
I’m just beginning to use static grass and building a hillside. Your video has helped me a lot in understanding the best techniques.
You're not only a modeler, but an artist as well. Your video has inspired me in many ways.
Thank you John 👍🏻
Only just seen this, and I have to say this may be the best scenery tutorial on youtube.

Beautiful scenery.
About to try my first hill , your method is the one I like the best, plus I have the plaster lying around 🎉
Great 👍🏻 glad it went ok, it’s always worked well for me
Some of the most realistic scenery I've seen on a UK based model railway. Excellent job, nothing says UK railway like those pink flowers trackside.
Thank you for the comments, I always try to make good scenery and I’m glad you like the pink flowers 👍🏻
Those attractive pink wild flowers go by the name of 'Rosebay Willowherb' they regularly grow up to 3 or 4 feet high.
