    General regulations specify that when loading heavy equipment over 10,000 pounds, the FMCSA requires a minimum four tie-downs to be used on independent corners. The blade and the bucket are considered attachments, which also need strapped down.

      @gillpecceuservices  Год назад +1

      Yes. I know that regulation. I tie down the 4 points and secure the boom with additional chains.

    We have a 2024 304cr . Same engine as a 305.5. No lack of power for sure. Took some getting used to the thumb picking up large logs and not smashing them. But yea theres no cab storage.

      At least they separated the cab from the engine compartment.

    You forgot to mention how much you hate the latches to the access panels. The push buttons (on mine) hardly work, or don't work at all, despite copious amounts of dry graphite.

      My latches are a little sticky but I do lubricate them. I don't hate them enough.....yet....

    305 is wild strong. I locked the tooth bucket into a big willow tree stump about the damn size of the machine, on a steep slope, had to lock it in, push the blade down, and when I would jerk it up it would be too much weight for the blade so it would go back down and I would sink and tilt all the way forward, ended up slowly turning with it and making a 644c loader actually carry something. I was very impressed.
    EDIT: You are talking about that grapple now it reminds me, we welded two pieces of 1" steel about 3x3" and made a pin hole on the stick and a hydraulic cylinder off something else and made a 1" thick grapple with gussets (poorly designed, its off now) and I was able to jamb a slab of concrete into my blade and lift it and track it about 50 foot to set metal on as I tore down a buiding, that slab was about 9" thick, 16' long and 8 or 9' wide. Once again, very powerful machine for its size, but it has the weight to it to keep it grounded.

      I max my machine out pretty regularly. I am careful when I am maxed out to not bend or break something. I do want to get a CAT 307.5 and then a CAT 310 on day.

    The thumb SHOULD yield to the bucket so that one doesn't damage the thumb or thumb cylinder.

    One more question, are you running a case drain line to run your mulcher? If so, was it factory installed or did you add it on?

    • @gillpecceuservices

      Yes I have a case drain for the mulcher. I had a CAT tech install after purchase. It was included in price just not installed yet.

    I need to adjust my valves. Where did you find the information on how to perform that?

    • @gillpecceuservices
      @gillpecceuservices  2 месяца назад

      Adjusting valves is a basic procedure that is similar on a lot of equipment. I got the info from my local CAT dealer on how to find top dead center and which valves to adjust at each point. Remember to also purchase a valve cover gasket. I will make a video on the procedure soon since my 2000 hour valve adjustment is coming up.

    I found a 2018 with 250 hours on it. Watching this because I’m thinking about getting it. The guy wants a premium at 75k though.

    • @gillpecceuservices
      @gillpecceuservices  5 месяцев назад +1

      They are great machines. 250 Hours is nothing and practically brand new. Make sure to check for any error codes in the on board monitor. Easy to do or have a dealer mechanic do a pre purchase inspection. Other than that its brand new at 250 hours and I say it would be worth that.

    I noticed your rear motor door . Has cutouts to allow air in and out . is this door custom made . did you cut the openings out .
    my 305.5 doesn't have a door like that i figured it was custom made

    • @gillpecceuservices
      @gillpecceuservices  5 месяцев назад +1

      No it is not custom made. It is a CAT part that they use in non US countries sometimes. I had to track the number down the hard way. It doesn't do much more to cool the engine down. Sometimes even if the winds are right makes the hot air recirculate back into the Radiator intake which isn't ideal. Hope this helps.

    Question
    How do you transport the 305.5E I mean do you haul it yourself and if you do, what do you use to pull and haul it back and forth?

    • @gillpecceuservices
      @gillpecceuservices  Год назад +1

      I do haul the Cat 305.5E2 myself. I use a PJ trailer gooseneck rated at 18,000lbs GVWR. Trailer weighs only 4500lbs so I have 13500lbs of payload. I already want a bigger trailer. I pull it with a 2019 Ram 3500 dually HO. Here is a video of it. ruclips.net/video/8jbMzjqX8XQ/видео.html

      @@gillpecceuservices awesome. That 305 weighs 13,000 lbs? I was thanking about the 306 or 308 but concerned about moving it around. I have a 2500 Ram that handles 10,000 with no problem but not hauled anythang any heavier than that. I just be using the excavator fer myself so it won’t be hauled as much as you probably do yours. But still I am concerned about it being too much fer my truck. Thank you fer the response to my question! 🤠👍

    • @gillpecceuservices
      @gillpecceuservices  Год назад

      @@jacobc5757 It all depends on what setup you would go with. I always cringe when I see people use bumper pull instead of gooseneck trailers. Most all of them load the bumper pulls incorrectly. Goosenecks are more stable. As for 2500 ram, there is never a question of being able to pull the load....it's about controlling the load and stopping. Thats the reason I have my 3500 dually.

    • @jacobc5757
      @jacobc5757 Год назад +1

      @@gillpecceuservices EGXAKLY! It’s stopping any load that is important. You can pull a lot of tons with a five hrsp motor but stopping it is impossible if it can’t handle it. But anyways I do have a gooseneck trailer that I haul my tractor and farm equipment with. Like I said it’s capable of more than 10,000 lbs but not sure how much more over because I try not to push the envelope if you know what I mean!
