**THREE TIPS** 2015 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5L Ecoboost w/ 120K miles. I replaced the valve cover because I was getting an oil leak (in the back left corner) that was smoking and entering the cabin. I had previously replace the pump and that did not solve my issue. Replacing the valve cover was harder than the pump replacement. #1. Once I had had the valve cover unbolted, I found cutting the three rubber seals where the spark plugs go allowed for me to pull the valve cover off easier. Two of the three seals had melted/bonded to the the aluminum tubes. I was replacing the cover - but it took some banging and a pry bar to break the seal. #2. Make sure all wires are clear when you put the valve cover back on. May sound intuitive but I made that mistake and did not realize it until after I went to plug all the wires back up. #3. I called the wrong Ford location and they quoted me $206 for an OEM cover. Called the right one to find the same part $50 cheaper. Not sure why it was so much cheaper. I know there was a fair amount of discussion on these items not being available but on 8/30/2024 both local Ford dealerships had them in stock. I consider myself an average DIYer - this project took me about 5 hours to replace the passenger valve cover. I took my time so as not to break any connectors. Minus being dumb and not clearing all the wires before I installed the valve cover, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars when it came to difficulty.
Can the tube seals be replaced without removing the valve cover. Several of mine are leaking oil into the tubes. There was oil on some of the insulators when I replaced the plugs. Thanks
According to All Data it's on the passenger side window, at the very bottom on the flat side ....I have made a RUclips short on something like that it's very similar
Will the high pressure fuel pump need to be primed since it’s been taken out? If so does the key on and off method work? I’m gonna tackle both valve covers on my ecoboost as well and trying to get as much info before I start
It looks about the same ,it actually looks easier cause the 2.7 dont have the high pressure fuel pump(in the way) but it's has about 75% of the same design

Did you add any RTV silicone sealant to your valve cover like this gentleman in Vid did ??

I'm sure there is a way for the option, so yes it is possible, but according to the books it's no so what ever you want to do with that info

I recommend oem ,I've tried the parts store and they don't fit right and wasted a whole day going back and forth with 3 different stores

I have never did anything special just put it back and tight it ,i know there's steps that ford recommend but I never had any issues

Left side - 3.2 hrs
Right side - 2.8 hrs
Both sides - 5.6 hrs total

No just the fuel disconnect and the 2 bolts never had a issue with the fuel pump

It looks about the same ,it actually looks easier cause the 2.7 dont have the high pressure fuel pump(in the way) but it's has about 75% of the same design
