**THREE TIPS** 2015 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5L Ecoboost w/ 120K miles. I replaced the valve cover because I was getting an oil leak (in the back left corner) that was smoking and entering the cabin. I had previously replace the pump and that did not solve my issue. Replacing the valve cover was harder than the pump replacement. #1. Once I had had the valve cover unbolted, I found cutting the three rubber seals where the spark plugs go allowed for me to pull the valve cover off easier. Two of the three seals had melted/bonded to the the aluminum tubes. I was replacing the cover - but it took some banging and a pry bar to break the seal. #2. Make sure all wires are clear when you put the valve cover back on. May sound intuitive but I made that mistake and did not realize it until after I went to plug all the wires back up. #3. I called the wrong Ford location and they quoted me $206 for an OEM cover. Called the right one to find the same part $50 cheaper. Not sure why it was so much cheaper. I know there was a fair amount of discussion on these items not being available but on 8/30/2024 both local Ford dealerships had them in stock. I consider myself an average DIYer - this project took me about 5 hours to replace the passenger valve cover. I took my time so as not to break any connectors. Minus being dumb and not clearing all the wires before I installed the valve cover, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars when it came to difficulty.

Ah yes, classic epsothermic reaction happening here. When the washer fluid enters the reservoir, it's triggering a spontaneous phase transition due to the unique molecular alignment of the fluid. Dont forget about that pcv valve in the back. Make sure to remove the cam sensors that bolt into the vc, if you dont remove them then it will damage the vc. If that pcv twists out they arent too bad if it has the t20 torx then it sucks, i recommend using a bit driver and a small bit for those, access through the wheel well on the passenger side

You can also use heli-coils even in plastic. That way you get a bite as strong as the original. I assume you know what these are but thought I would mention just in case.

The bolts for the upper plenum on the pentastar are usually threading into plastic. They are similar to self tapping screws. After removing the upper plenum you might be able to melt some plastic into the hole to give it something to bite onto, either that or replace the lower plenum. If you do all that work to remove the lower plenum replace the oil cooler

All of the domestic cars are trash nowadays, anything newer than 2020 are really crappy. I think all the stelantis brands are even worse, Dodge/GMC/Chrysler/FIAT are really trash.
