"You can't break this leg. Well, you can, but it won't hurt as bad." That's making lemonade, for sure.
I'd say she passed lemonade and went straight to lemon lollipops. Absolutely amazing
Can break that leg and her real 1 at the same time. As a amputee I have done both when I was a kid
I love that
She was so young that was the plus
I laughed and teared up at that at the same time.
Avery was frozen in her tracks at her idol, but I’m willing to bet she went home and hasn’t shut up about this since it happened! ❤😂
listen I worship the ground Sir pTerry Pratchett (rip) walked on, but if I ever turned around and he was just right there, I'd be just like poor Averie. I hope they were able to spend time after the interview in private so that Averie could get some time to really enjoy meeting Laurie.
She's SO smart and mature for her age. Certainly was raised right. 👏🙂
Agreed! You can tell that her folks did not have pity on her and raised her to be no different than anyone with two whole legs. Thats the way to do it. If a child is raised being told they are disabled they will always feel limited. if they are raised to think they are no different than anyone else, the sky is the limit.
she was a baby when she lost her leg, and kids adapt far better than adults. also was sweet of you to have her on and also her idol.
At the age of two, she wasn't really a baby, but chances are she doesn't even remember what it's like to walk with two real legs.
She inspires this 64 y.o. man w a prosthetic left foot!
I don't do any types of sports. I am a 64 year old, and out of shape ol man. I find this angle a great inspiration. You can see it in her eyes. God Bless, and may she make it to the Olympics, and succeed.
Shaking like a leaf in a storm, and still she nails a balance routine I couldn't do if my life depended on it. What a legend!
I would love to live long enough to see that young lady compete in the Olympic Games. WORD LIFE!!!
This absolutely beautiful child deserves gold in the Olympics. She has turned a disability into an ability and she has humility and grace as well. I wish her every success for her future. ❤xx with love from Australia 🇦🇺
Well whoever performs the best deserves the gold, but she definitely is a champion for soldiering through losing a leg and kicking ass.
This is fantastic. She is a beautiful person 🎉.
Averie does NOT deserve the gold in the Olympics merely because she can compete with an artificial leg. The gold goes t the best gymnast in the competition, NOT the one with the best story.
@@cathynewyork7918 Yes, I'm well aware of all that. I was commenting on her courage, not suggesting that judges give her a gold medal to her unfairly.
This world and country needs more stories like this rather than what the media wants to push.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH STEVE HARVEY.
Hello, you may already know of this story about a young lady from 2017-2018. She is a flautist in her High School Band. In her senior year she became the section leader of flutes. Her name is Hitomi Kanamaru or Kanemaru. There are hundreds of videos of her band on the RUclips and her story is on the www too. She attended Kyoto Tachibana (a wild Mandarin type of orange tree) Senior High School Brass Band Club during the years of 2015-2018. Here are the titles of three videos that she is prominent in. " Hey! "
That girl is wise beyond her years.
She is an inspiration to the young generation
Amazing young lady. May she see the Olympics sooner than later and shine like a champion she is.
"The mindset of a champion." I like that inspiring concept.
She is very brave, first meeting her hero then performing in front of her her, so much pressure but she nailed it! Wonderful! 😃
As someone who is't particularly a fan of gymnastics, but seeing someone doing what's difficult WITHOUT a handicap is just amazing.
Wow. What an absolute amazing attitude Avery has. She has a great future ahead of her
She is inspiring.. She has already got the biggest medal of all..
Would wide gold medal for showing us never to give up..❤
Well said I love her spirit and humility for a full life.❤😊
I have a prosthetic left leg. Im 61...this wonderful, beautiful soul has inspired me. Much love..❤
This little baby girl is my hero. How Good is she?!? This incredible human being came out on that stage hiding her medal, as humble as a day is long. First time she stops covering them with her hands is to hug her idol. Massive, Enormous, Gigantic young lady.
Keep going strong Averie. You're definitely an inspiration. You have millions of people so proud of you.
She'll be in the Olympics one day. And it'll be COOL!!!
She would dominate in special Olympics, but she doesn't consider herself disabled, so competes against to non-disabled athletes.
She is so overwhelmed
Bless her
"Without an education you don't know 'nothin'". 😂
Life threw her a curve but she didn’t strike out she knocked it clean out of the park !! Young lady your beyond special you are simply amazing and I have a feeling nothing is going to slow you down or stop you from reaching your goals in life !!
she is already a winner to me... an Olympic Gold medalist....❤❤❤❤
This young 11 year old girl has a heart of gold 💛 and that it shows that any person with disabilities can achieve anything they want.
This young lady is an inspiration for people of any age.
Like a true champion, she is nervous talking to celebs, but is all business when it is time to do what she loves. 👏
She’s so mature for her age. And confident. Her parents have done an excellent job raising her. So proud of you, young lady.
YOU GO GIRL.
I hope you go far in everything you do.
She’s such a beautiful girl & so humble & grown up. Her getting to see her idol is fantastic. She’s going to go a long way it life with her postive attitude.Brought tears to my eyes when Avery looked up & said that’s so sweet ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
the mom and dad must be the proudest parents in the world knowing there daughter not letting the loss of her leg not stopping her from doing what she loves Averie i will say this honey i am 44 no kids yet BUT if i ever have a daughter i hope she be just like you putting her dreams first and doing what she would love to do because not only you are doing what your dream is but you are showing other children all around the world younger and older that you that because you have a disability should not let it stop you from doing your dream you have full support from Australia honey and hope one day we see you at the Olympics go get that gold medal honey you deserve it
Way to go girl!!! From my home state of Oklahoma!!! So proud of how she's turned her disability into an amazing skill with gymnastics!!!
Avery's story is full of inspiration, and why is Avery's idol so drop dead gorgeous
I love Steve's positive messages. So many resonate with me. Thank you Mr. Harvey.
I'd be willing to bet that Avery makes it to the Olympics, and gets a gold. She's got just the right mentality for it. Her mindset is just where it needs to be!
This is awesome, love this strong willed young girl. She is already a champion and I believe she will accomplish everything she wants to do and inspire many.

She'll Be At The Right Age In 4yrs For The Olympics!
What a beautiful, talented and sweet young lady!! I wish her the very best in her pursuit of that gold medal!! I am sure Lauren Hernandez has a new best friend, I hope they stay in contact with each other and they continue to inspire each other and so many others!
Very inspiring young lady she's a heart of a champion
This is the best of America: Inclusive, caring and full of hope for the future.
I have a paralyzed arm and leg. I can walk. But I have pain. I have seizures that prevent me from doing things. Like working and driving. But this girl is a blessing
Very inspiring young woman and athlete. Steve Harvey…just the most genuine, sweetest person. He was made to interview youth.
No, Steve Harvey is loud and annoying - but this is a sweet story about the little gymnast with an artificial leg.
What a sweet baby girl. So grateful Laurie took the time to come and meet her and that Steve arranged it!
She could dominate in special Olympics, but she doesn't consider herself disabled. Good for her.
Wow! Out of the mouth of a babe, so matured . I am inspired by her attitude, spirit and character. Many successes in your journey. Bless you. Her story made me cry.
She's, An Example, OF, Such, Greatness.
Beautiful girl she is a inspiration to other handicap kids she is proof if you make up your can do it ❤❤ love her
2:12 "I really don't have a disadvantage," she says. That mindset is what makes her sensational!
She will go far❤.
Wonderful story of courage & determination in the face of adversity, she truly is an amazing young lady who you would be so proud to say was your daughter, well done Averie x
This little girl is a true inspiration
I was good till Laurie walked in and saw her reaction then i lost it bawled my eyes out the rest of this video ❤❤❤
You go girl! I’m a former gymnast and you are amazing! Keep up that mature confidence and you will ho far! Laurie is amazing as well!
She is. I told my boys.. who complain about not being able to do something.. about Averie. I told them I don't want to hear their excuses. If this young woman can be an amazing gymnast, you boys can accomplish everything you set your mind to!
This girl inspires on a whole different level! Ever imagined what it means to feel the position of your body with a body part that can’t feel? Her performance and demeanor is off the charts. She WILL become an Olympic Champion!
I love Laurie so much omg Avery is amazing
being in a wheelchair my entire life(51 years and counting)i wish id had a positive role model in my life instead of people always telling me i couldnt do this and that
Just ignore the negativity if you believe in your heart that you can do it then that’s all that matters the best way to shut up the naysayers is to prove them wrong just keep believing even though i don’t know you but I believe in you and have faith in you head up and prove them wrong you got this
Love how she looks at her life. A lot of us grown adults can learn a lesson from her.
This is awesome i was in the medical equipment industry for 20 years and am a veteran so I’ve dealt with many amputees over the years and I find this truly awesome and one of my good friends is a Usmc amputee veteran that was in the Paralympic actually 2 of my friends over the years have been in the paralympics , they are my real hero’s and although I don’t actually know her other than what I just saw in this video I truly respect her and what she has accomplished and her attitude
The prodigist of humanity, for sure!!!
Even to me who has never liked kids my entire life, her spirit has brought a tear to my eye.
I cant wait to see her in the Olympics one day
Ms. Averie same as my sister name Ms. Avery both are CHAMPIONS all around 🙏🗣️🔊🤲🇺🇸🚨🥰🤩🥳🫵👁️👁️👑👑💼💼 Thank You 🙏 both❤🕶️🕶️💐💐❤🎉 and Thank You Mr. Steve Harvey, you are the greatest person human being for your platforms!
This young lady has a beautiful soul, the heart of a lion in the will of a warrior! And an attitude that the world really needs right now she’s a breath of fresh air and I wish her nothing but the best of success and there’s no doubt in my mind that this young lady will achieve everything she wants to… Thanks for motivating a broken old man.
WHAT AN Inspiration! God Bless Avery! U WILL make it to the Olympics!❤
She’s a tough kid. She will go far in life with whatever she does. Hope to see her in the Olympics some day! She’s got a champion’s spirit for sure. 🩷 Keep going Averie!! We are rooting for you!!
I LOVE STEVE!!!! I knew the OLIMPIC champion was going to be there. That is just the kind of thing Steve would do! Makes peoples DREAMS come TRUE!!!!!
They were both born champions! Its in the spirit first then the bravery. And the commitment and hard work.
An amazing young lady.❤👍
You can't break this....well you can....but it won't hurt as bad..........OMG!!!! this child is SOOOOO much more advanced than any WHOLE bodied people I have EVER known...God Bless her!!!
Averyis already s winner and an inspiration to all
to set your goals and go for them! Don't ever let anyone
define who you are because you certainly know who you are.
You live life head on!
GOD BLESS YOU FOR BEING WHO YOU ARE.
YOU NOT ONLY PUT A SMILE ON GOD'S FACE, BUT
ALL OF US WHO WERE BLESSED TO SEE THIS AND
THOSE WHOM YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BLESS WHEN
MEETING THEM THROUGHOUT LIFE!
If this didn't make you shed a tear seeing this, there is something wrong with you.
Love this little girl attitude ❤
The world needs alot more of this beautiful little girl..💐
What an epic and brave young girl. I can’t do that with two good legs. Hope she achieves everything she wants
Two amazing young ladies who know that attitude is everything. Bravo to her parents and coaches.
Shes so star struck... how beautiful.!! ❤❤
Love Laurie! She's grown into quite the beauty! Love this young inspiring gymnast!
I hope she makes the Olympics short term and achieves the awesome goal of being a physical therapist long term. Two perfect places for her. You go girl!
She changed my attitude today!! Awesome girl.
She's so sweet. Such an angelic beautiful child.
She's a very special young lady, but she is such an inspiration.
Great story!! God bless her! Steve, you always do good stuff!! Thank you and God bless you!!
God bless her precious little heart!🫶🏾♥👍🏽
I love this story and the attitude of this young lady
In 2011, Anthony Robles of Arizona State won the NCAA Division I wrestling championship at 125 pounds despite being born with one leg. The win was not a fluke, as he was undefeated for the season and overcame the defending national champion in the finals. Averie and Anthony have each expanded the definition of "possible."
3:40 "She just does everything so perfectly, and she also has a lot of personality when she does stuff."
Gotta appreciate Laurie Hernandez for proving Averie's point right as she's making it.
She's already won the gold, its in her heart and soul.❤❤❤
That young girl has a damn good head on her shoulders!
Steve is a blessing to this world.
What a sweet kid! She'd be an inspiration regardless of using a prosthetic. There's something she wanted to do, so she found a way to do it. That in and of itself is inspiring :)
I like the way he stopped himself from asking ''what do you want to be when you grow up''. She's already so mentally mature. 2:46.
What an inspiration she is!!!!!! God Bless You ❤❤❤
So very proud of this determined focused young lady
Best wishes to you Averie...thanks Steve
This little girl is amazing no matter what! How about Laurie though? I wonder what it feels like to see the emotion that comes out of another person just by meeting you.
