Many times engine failures are caused by a bad tune. The fact that this guy tuned this cars stock engine to handle even a few runs at this power is nuts
New generation of 2J stock bombproof engine quality? I'm sure everyone familiar with this channel and 1320 have seen the 1500-2000hp built Hurracans and R8s, but damn! That's insane to even survive a few launches at that power level.
I think the same as you in regards to the Audi/vw v10 being the modern day version of the 90’s big power engines from Japan. The 2.5 5 cylinder audi/vw engine i would say is the modern day version of the 2J even with the lower displacement. If you like Take a look at officially gassed RUclips, he’s probably the best uk guy doing the car thing and you’d get a look at what stuff we have to play with in the Uk.
More folks in Congress and around the world need to be driven around like this! Yes electric is moving forward but we need to find a niche for this! We aren't the ones causing enviro issues! Just let us have fun still!
Weird how the 1250-1300 bhp gtr’s get gapped by the 1000-1100bhp v10 twin turbos but then when they get to big big power 1700-2000bhp the gtr and v10 cars seem to put down very very similar times and trap speeds. I’m in the uk and you can literally count on one hand the number of turbo’d v10s audi/lambo stuff, over here a 1100-1200bhp v10 is considered the limit on stock engines but haven’t a clue why. Power figures are a lot different for the v10s over here, even tho our standard fuels are 98/99ron we never seem to see the same figures as you guys manage to put up out in America.

just an FYI, you should make that harness a 5 or 6 point. 4 points do nothing but kill or paralyze you in a crash. Also take a look at belt mounting angles, an incorrect angle there is also very bad. Another FYI, if driving without a HANS and helmet, stick with the OEM 3 point harnesses for safety. Race harnesses without a head/neck restraint just snaps your neck. Lucky nothing happened on this ride, you would have absolutely been paralyzed at BEST. Neck snapped for sure. Lacerated organs as well, due to how the 4 point cuts into the torso during an impact. Dont forget to put in a Firesense FSS they are only like 1400 dollars for a 5 nozzle big suppressant tank. Never understood how these high dollar builds didn't get basic fire protection.
It’s a 5 point, and Lifeline for suppression. Absolutely right about the harness though. I didn’t really anticipate doing much road driving in Texas so I didn’t hook up the factory belt. Though the frontal airbag would take the first impact a little easier on the ol neck!
@@hankiroz2592 Ah, sorry, about that, I was looking for the submarine belt/s and didnt see them, and I just assumed, since I usually see 4 points all the time. The airbags aren't designed to reach your head from an upright sitting position, so you'd still snap your neck. The oem belts allow for a significant change in body position to add time to impact and reduce forces.
So many haters in the comments lol watch the damn video they built the turbo kit with the stock engine in mind and it’s running 22lbs of boost! Clearly Hank and his team know what they’re doing! Great work I look forward to how far you guys can push this setup!
Yes, but keep in mind you will need $55,000 for the transmission and maybe 20-30 thousand additional dollars for the turbo kit, fuel system, tuning, labor, etc.
Torque management and torque spread over 10 cylinders vs 8 etc ? Forged internals they have are nice don’t let him fool you I’ve seen people put down great power on these unopened blocks.
Not very long, every pass he’s taking a risk. I think this guy is a tuner? So I’m sure he’s got the torque managed well and remember it’s spread over 10 cylinders. These engines don’t make insane torque so I’m guessing maybe that is part of what helps him be able to keep these things alive in his tunes etc. he must be a godly tuner to even have this alive for any number of passes at all.
@@zethloveless7238 extreme tq in a torotating engine is equal to the hp output. When making over 1800whp then following it up with "it doesn't make a lot of tq" is some of the dumbest things you can say. It basically means it makes 1800whp worth of tq.
@@simonz5002 I mean it does but with tuning they can manage how the power comes on. They can manage how the torque comes as not to totally kill the rods. This is the very upper limit of these stock blocks from what I’ve seen from other tuners of these v10s. Gotta be a tuning wizard to keep this alive for any amount of time. Without any proper torque management via tuning this thing would snap those rods no problem 🫢. The rods are not that big I’ve held them. Like I said also the engine runs a flat plane crank which also usually makes less torque over cross planes which already helps these rods last a bit longer and make overall less torque.
@@zethloveless7238 no offense I think you’re just talking outta your behind. Cross plane vs flat plane equates to nothing when it comes to torque. It’s about the displacement and how far the rods have to travel to do a full 4 stroke cycle. Most cars that have high rpm have a lower stroke and the rods tend to have a bigger diameter to equal the same displacement. Think of equal sized volume cups ☕️. One could be much wider but less tall and the other, more tall and less wide in diameter. Big torque motors generally either have a longer stroke when naturally aspirated, vs high revving motors with lower torque have a lower stroke. And rpm also comes into factor. These v10s are naturally able to hit high rpm’s. With a stronger rod, it would easily be able to manage the torque. I think you are easily underestimating Hank and his tuning knowledge…
It's all fun and games until those thumb sized rods install a window in the block at 150 mph+. It's really impressive what you've accomplished but I'd very scared of losing a rod and then getting coolant and oil all over the rear tires at speed and losing control.
@Jpschargedup Yeah, but I would be so nervous because hopefully it just bends a rod or closes the ring gap and breaks the top of a piston instead. Because making the power this car does, accelerating as hard as it does, if it lifted a cylinder head and started pushing coolant or broke the block since it has a mid mounted dry sumped V10 it would have a whole lot more coolant and oil to lose compared to a front engine chassis with 5-6.5 quarts in the oil pan of a wet sump engine.
We aren’t remotely out of turbo yet, just edging up on power to see where limits land. Once this cad gets a motor this summer, we will run a little bigger versions of these Xonas
