Right on!! I use a mighty vac for bleeding also. A little trick I did was change add vaccum line hose adapter that starts small and steps up. This way I can use smaller tubing that stay on the bleeder. I will have to get myself a moisture gauge for fluid that is a great idea any suggestions? I like how you actually clean the the caliper and measure the pads I do that too. When you mentioned uneven wear on pads it reminded me of what my dad showed me with disk pads on his customers cars to his race cars that had Airheart or Wilwood brakes. He said it prevents the dragging, squealing, and uneven wear. The back metal side of the pad that makes contact with the piston check it for flatness check the edges for high spots because they punch the metal to cut it. So it can have high spots. I usually lap the back sides doing a figure eight on sand paper on a sheet of glass and spray a little caliper paint on the back when done. I check those holes in the pads for burrs that rod you cleaned goes through. My pads on the rear wear of my 07 XL883 wear great and don't squeal. I also de glaze the rotor with a little solvent and emery paper very little wear. Which type of brake pads do you prefer on your Sportster ?
If I do not have brake cleaner I have always used detergent or degreaser like super clean to wash with then rinse with water just never high pressure of course. They work in the rain so why not clean them with water is what my dad showed me. Oh yeah good cheap solvent is stove fuel aka Coleman fuel just be careful on paint or rubber its kinda like prep sol or panel wipe. Look up Eds Red bore solvent recipe or just ask I will honored to share with you how I make it. Eds red is Very useful solvent/cleaner in the shop saves me time and money doesn't eat up surfaces or paint.
Haha I have a front brake yet I have never changed the factory front pads they are still fine on my Sportster. I have thought about removing the front brake it doesn't get much use on my Sportster.
Excellent how to with many tricks your local stealership does not do that you show people how to do. Proof that people should support their local independent shop. Or if mechanically included do the job by using these excellent instructions. Thank you.

Hell yeah man! I never gave much thought to the back side of the pads past cleaning them. Gonna start seeing what I find now. Im gonna be honest I dont really have one brand that I got to all the time. However I do really like the dustless pads. Saves time and money in the long run for me. As far as the moisture gauge I think any of them will work I bought mine off a snap on truck but im positive the one from an auto parts store would do the job just as good.

@@norsemencustomcycles7289 New in the box or checking the wear I always check those areas. Its messy yet I have sanded/trued the uneven wear on the composite side of a few sets of slightly wore brake pads its messy. I also arc shoes if necessary for mechanical or juice drum brakes. Very cool I have never ran dustless pads I will definitely have to check them out now. One time on the sporty rear I ran EBC Sintered copper alloy pads they were excellent except for the nasty dust. Personally I really like the good old organic non metallic pads on both my bikes because they seem to be a little friendlier to a brake rotor as far as wear from my own experience. Thank you very much man. Wish you had a PO box listed I would mail you a post card.
