- Today we're proving that the Expert Grill Heavy Duty (a budget Wal-mart grill) can do low and slow barbecue with the best of them. We've done fajitas. We've done pork loin. But today, it's time for a nice long smoke.
And what better choice than a delicious pork butt? Doing a long, slow smoke of a pork butt will provide a ton of pulled pork for any family get together. And, with the money you'll save on the grill, you should be able to buy a big butt.
If you remove the two little rubber pegs on the lid, you get a much tighter seal and it looses less heat and maintains temp. Just a simple little hack that makes it a pretty good little smoker!
Thanks for sharing and doing the hard work! A lot of my family are always amazed when I bring food out from the Expert Grill because of the time and effort it takes to make sure everything is going well within the box, whereas my extended family has a gas grill and Traeger. I got this as a gift from my mom and so I have to show her that yes, I am indeed using it, and I intend to learn more about cooking with it.
I purchased this same grill for $ 97. and have smoked ribs, grilled chicken thighs and cooked some burgers. So far, no complaints.
Just watched your EXPERT 24in GRILL vids and thought you would like to hear about my grill. I have the same grill (branded KINGSFORD) and have had great results for the past 10 years amd can see at least another 5 or so years of life in it. I am not lucky enough to have some where to store it out of the weather so it sits outside all the time. When it falls apart from old age I hope to find another just like it.
Just got the same grill. Excited to give this a try. Thanks!
Hope you like it!
Learning a lot from your videos…just bought a charcoal grill and can’t wait to use what I’m learning
It's a great design for the money but the charcoal tray rusts out after a year or so. I replaced my last one with a Dynaglo which is much more durable.
Nice work on that pork butt!!! I was gonna get that grill and still havent. I see it has a definite advantage over the kettle grills by the fact that you can add charcoal alot easer (with out taking the meat off the grill) glad to see your videos!!!
Get expert grill HD 32. It’s the same grill but 32 inches wide. Well worth the extra 30 dollars. Cheers!
Have you figured out how to add some kind of rotisserie to it? I imagine its big enough to smoke a turkey in it as well? Just came across it on walmart today and really want to get it. Its $198 cad at the moment.
Sorry I might have missed this, but how long have you had the grill for?
Also what was the full cook time?
I've had the grill for almost a year now. And the cook time was around 7 hours total. Pretty good sized pork butt!
What are the grill grate measurements
In freedom units, 22" by 16.5".
Pork is unclean. Biblically speaking. Nothing against you personally.
And? This is about grilling pork, literally not one person cares for some religious input. Also it was always hilarious to me that people will be all against pork as its "unclean" but eat chicken like it doesn't spread salmonella like crazy lol... gotta love it.
Whew
That's what makes it delicious
