    So if there is oil in some of the spark plug tubes then definitely valve cover gasket needs to be replaced?

    • @Veikra
      @Veikra  5 месяцев назад +1

    great Video! I have the confidence to tackle this after watch your video. What product did you apply to both sides of the valve cover?

    • @Veikra
      @Veikra  Год назад

      It`s an aircraft sealant.

      Thanks. Just completed the job today thanks to your video! I used a right angle ratcheting screwdriver for those back bottom screws on the cover. My back is killing me! Lol I’m 6’3. Putting the car on ramps would’ve been a good idea.

      @@48Goat Way to go.BYE BYE burnt oil smell! At least that's one good thing about being 5'6'', much easier being hunched over, be it with car engines and picking up horse hooves! Not so much for working on my truck though!

    How long should this job take and what should I be paying

    • @Veikra
      @Veikra  Год назад +1

      4 hours. Prices varies from regions to region. I think gaskets are about 60$ per side. Beware of rush jobs. It's not a job for a regular mechanic else you'll find out too late you have a bunch of broken tabs and connectors everywhere popping random malfunction codes and dirt in the engine from not cleaning the engine before removing the covers.
      Slow and careful on these since I dont want to break anything and have to pay out of pocket for a job I should have made money on. (Because I have enough ethics not to charge for things "I" broke. Something others might not have) .

    Well only thing he ain't doing to show everybody is it's a two-stage valve cover gasket not just the one on this one you have to take both pieces off top and bottom valve cover he's only doing the first stage valve cover not the second stage so for everybody asking questions about this Audi A8 it has a two-stage valve cover

    • @kennyhulsey6987
      @kennyhulsey6987 Год назад

      And I guarantee you once he gets done within about a couple of days he's going to have to do all that all over again because like I said it's a two-stage valve cover

    • @Veikra
      @Veikra  Год назад +4

      It is not a 2 stage valve cover. The second parting line is the cam girdles, not the valve cover. When was the last time you removed a valve cover and the camshaft popped out?
      Im replacing the valve covers here, not the cam girdles which requires pulling out the camshafts. It's also a diiferent sealing principle and last longer.
      And no, it's not leaking, not a couple days later, not even a year later and not even 25 000km later.
