    Very nicely explained!! I have a question about the YU4 (or now the YU which is the same as the 4 but without phono, opticals and just in black) My set up is on a desk facing a wall and I want these speakers for listening to music whilst using the PC. As there is a sub outlet at the back of the speakers, what is the minimum distance I can have them from the wall without getting a muddy boomy sound to the bass? Thanks

    I got a YU2 and they sound great for their size. I also got one of Kanto's down firing subwoofers, the YURI. Together with the YU2 speakers, they make an amazing entry-level 2.1 system. I am a fan of Kanto speakers. I might get their TUK speakers for my home theater system.

    Just ran across your video review. Very informative. I am kind of an audiophile. The sound of my music is extremely important to me. I'm not as concerned about price as I am sound reproduction. Are the Kantos the best computer speakers with which you are familiar or are there better? I'm looking for the best sounding desk top computer speakers.

      I will fill one out. I'm not a gamer. I have over 40k songs in my library and I love movies. So I'm trying to get the best sound I can, understanding that I have limitations due to the space available to download all that music. I need to learn about DACs, too. It seems that would enhance my sound quite a bit.

    Will the subwoofer pre-out work with standard home theater subwoofers, or do they only work with their own brand's subs? I have an 8" Energy subwoofer that is compact and precise that I would love to be able to pair with it, but figure that may not be an option?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 года назад

      Your Energy should work fine as long as it has a level control on the rear, you will be able to balance it out. You will want to run into the sub input that uses the crossover built into your sub, depending on the Kanto, you'll want to play with crossover settings from 80 Hz to 120 Hz to see which blends best. Kanto YU6 or Audioengine HD6? i know a bit of a price difference but $ is not always a measure of excellence. Use for TV and living room music in a larger apartment. Would like to stream music prefer wifi over bluetooth, so probably would want to connect via chromecast audio or similar (also any recommendation on that wifi vs. bluetooth?)

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  4 года назад

      Hi! Both are fantastic speakers and perform beyond their price point. You could use either with your TV via the optical input and if you wanted to stream music, you could add a streaming device or use Bluetooth. Wifi has typically been better than Bluetooth for sound quality but both speakers use AptX codecs (the YU6's with Standard Aptx and the HD6's with upgraded AptX HD). If you have a compatible device, you could stream high-res Bluetooth signals to both.

    Audio Engine A5+ or Kanto YU 4?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  6 лет назад +6

      Depends what you're looking for, really. Kanto has the built-in preamp and Bluetooth, so that's nice. Pure sound quality, we would give Audioengine the edge. If you want the best of all worlds, check out the Peachtree M24 and M25.

    • @BurntTransistor
      @BurntTransistor 5 лет назад +8

      I was an owner of the A5+ in bamboo. The bamboo has lamination defects and which will form cracking/splitting in the cabinet over time. As for the electronics - note that the A5+ has a mild hum with no audio playing. This can be annoying when using the speakers near you (e.g., as computer speakers). I also noticed that the speakers would lock-up from time to time (volume knob stops working), and a power cycle is necessary to reset it. Lastly, I had some strange audio artifacts when using with a self-built desktop computer. Not sure if there was a ground loop or something else, but the speakers would sometimes randomly 'pop' loudly when putting the computer to sleep or waking it up. My preference goes to Kanto.

    Is there a sound comparison clip? It's astonishing how scarce this is. Anyone looking for a set has done their hw on how they look, specs etc but want the damn sound comparison. And for some horrific reason when it's done they don't compare it to anything so we have nothing to go by.
    You have all 3 and didn't pin them against each other? Crazy.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  6 лет назад +2

      The sound would be subject to the room, the recording equipment, the source (in this case, compressed streaming video from RUclips) and finally, your listening gear (computer speakers? Headphones?). There is no way to accurately do this which is why you're finding that it isn't done. The only real way to compare equipment is to listen to them in the same room, in person.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  6 лет назад

      Also, if you read our full written review (link in the description) we compare the sound.

    • @solara2966
      @solara2966 6 лет назад +1

      I don't think anyone is looking for an accurate presentation (especially here since its all compress) but to see how they sound like to have something to go by. I've seen a few clips of speakers against each other and you do see a noticeable difference, even though its compress by RUclips and all of that red tape you just listed. But because of that comparison, a viewer is more aware of what to expect. If I wanted to hear the actual thing ofc I'll be in the same room. But thanks for replying.
