As you said , " I want to be open & honest " that is what we expect from all beer reviewers. When I review a beer , and I have any kind of fault with that beer I think and say " these are my taste buds yours are different and you may like this beer so try it " you did a good review.
Regardless of brewery, as you said, you can tell breweries by flavor and aroma a mile away. So in this particular New England style IPA, why do you fault it for being " a BrewDog beer"? I like that breweries have a discernible house style myself. And not every brewery is going to crush it on every beer.
So that brew-doggy aroma you mention, I think the Brewdog beers brewed in Germany don't have it in the same way. Maybe it is partially down to the water?
Here in Galicia have 1906 by Estrella Galicia. Could you do a review? Is very popular and international. The best made in Spain. I think has some awards…
It's not cloudwater, but a fine ale for the price (which is what BD is all about, catering for the low to mid price range and making decent ales accessible). What it lacks in body, it more than makes up for in refreshment and taste. It has to be one of the most refreshing alcoholic drinks I have ever tasted.
Just drank a bottle of this, I think for Brewdog it's decent. If this was from Cloudwater or the others it would be disappointing but £2.50 from Tesco? Yes please
I had Omnipollo's Fata Morgana years ago and that seems like it fits into this New England IPA style. Were they ahead of the curve and hijacked by American solipsism? Or does this style date back before the advent of that particular beer?
According to Henok he said that he wanted to make an IPA with the looks of a Saison since Saisons got alot of wheat and sometimes oats and now it hit the market really good!
Tried this for the first time today and found it to be a very approachable IPA, maybe a good introductory IPA for people intimidated by overbearing hops. I loved the fruit flavors and nice full and smooth mouthfeel.
I thought this was a big step behind Verdant et al - lacklustre. I did have it in a Brewdog Bar - does anyone else think that you get different stuff in cans v from the taps? My friend & I had a few including Vagabond, Dead Pony Club & Cloudwater Bergamont Sour, all were different to previous bottles / cans.
Yea they changed places where they brewed it the water quality is apparently terrible and they down the percentage to get out of paying extra tax on it but it's still a nice taking brew I know this comment is 2 years out of date but it peaked my interest 😂😂
They did brew this with their house yeast (WY1272 - I believe). They have produced some small batch beers (Vermont IPA v2.0) with the Vermont Yeast (Heady Topper) strain. This was a decent beer, as was their collab with Cloudwater (New England IPA) which was also brewed witht he Vermont Yeast.
Hi Simon did you get to the bottom of why all brewdog beers smell/taste similar they have that plastiky, rubbery end note , i get the feeling all the beer is brewed the same up to a point ,,,,, then the flavour jars come out and they tip in what ever they are trying to produce just my idea ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Your review of this tells me that it's very similar to the colab Brewdog did with Cloudwater. A New England IPA with that Brewdog twang! I liked it but it felt a little like a watered down punk IPA. I'm interested to try this. Cheers!
I drank this beer today and would somewhat agree with your assessment. It it hazy and has the appearance right, but that's about it. It totally misses the NEIPA mark. Too bitter. Too crisp. A decent citrus American IPA for sure... but NEIPA? No way. Completely misses the mark with hop bitterness and mouthfeel.
Beers like this make me think some smart chemist got some neutral larger and add various falours and chemicals and this is what u get. I kinda think if i added like orange squash concentrate to larger u would get this lol (but obviously the fruit squash with this would be formulated to make it take like and IPA). Reminds of scammers in the wine market who have very smart chemists who can replicate the flavour of veru expensive wines.
Had this about 3 month back and tasted of sulphur didnt like it having another go tonight just had it and there is a tang to it a I don't like no sulphur this time but I dont like it
Id like to see if you did a blind taste test and see if your review would be the same. Once you have formed an opinion on a product, the mind holds that thought and it will taint opinion.
Spot on with this review....This beer is very good but not at that top level. I've noticed too over the years how upscaling the beer reduced something I cant quite put my finger on! Still my go to brand but, I am crying out for the top notch stuff!!!! I still will go to some of my local brewers who are not quite at the large scale yet and brew some small batch that are amazing...I think the whole brew-dog becoming a multinational corporation is quite Ironic..? don't you?
Sorry forgot to add.. the price does swing thing a little... got this for the equivalent of £1.33 a bottle in Sainsburys..so I cant argue really for that price its a 10/10
I think having a house yeast strain is kinda lame. Brewers are always playing around with different hop/malt combinations, manipulating their water profiles to suit certain styles, so why the hell would you not do the same with yeast? Lacks imagination / brewing skill in my opinion. Pretty sure WY1272 is a Chico strain of some sort. Basically won't do a NEIPA style beer any justice....
It's hard to be rebel when you become as big as Brew Dog. But I have to give it to them, they are delivering on their mission to make craft beer for the people. You can now get a 12-pack of Punk IPA for £15. I think it's remarkable. Of course it's a completely different business than the one Cloudwater and the likes are in, and I'd usually go for something more exciting. But it can't all be £10 a litre beer. I still find Brew Dog bars relevant. They usually have some very interesting guest beers and Brew Dog specials on.
Patience is the byword. If ya compare breweries to the fall of The Roman Empire, then whatever sprouts up after ain't gonna taste of Sprouts! Always switch breweries. - Especially if you think they are not enjoying/cannot possibly enjoy the very beers they are spending so much on marketing. - Be Fickle (But do it with 'A Brainy Tickle')! Pound fer Pound, they'll either Die, or 'Come Around'. Love To All Good Ale Lover's. X.
I'm just not as fond of Brewdog like I used to be, I used to be such an advocate for the brand, Ever since they made This.Is.Lager I started to decline my interest in them.
Very good after a meal. Not as good by the 2nd pint... I'm leaning toward hoppy ales like Proper Job. Still refreshing by the 3rd pint. This beer 7/10. Regards. Eddie.
The flavor of this beer it’s delicious... so fragrant on my palette
As you said , " I want to be open & honest " that is what we expect from all beer reviewers. When I review a beer , and I have any kind of fault with that beer I think and say " these are my taste buds yours are different and you may like this beer so try it " you did a good review.
Tried their Abstrakt AB:22 the other night and it blew me away.
Definitely don't miss out on that one, dude!
14:00 did they try this in the end with Overworks?
This beer is sensational isn’t it. It’s been there for me in lockdown as a true friend.
Have you ever been to any of Tree House or Trillium Brewing places in the Boston , Massachusetts area ? I haven't ?

If what is typical for Brewdog is a plasticky aftertaste, then no.
I had this the other night in Aberdeen. I have to say my new favourite
Big up the Aberdeen massive. Cmon the dons
@@monzie192stand free!
Let's keep things in context here... you did give Birra Morretti (the Italian Heineken) a 6....
for indutrial lager
Where can i buy 1 of them glasses, i need 1 in my life 😁
This is my favourite Brewdog beer, close 2nds are Elvis Juice and Duopolis . Had it out of a keg over Christmas and it was sensational
So that brew-doggy aroma you mention, I think the Brewdog beers brewed in Germany don't have it in the same way. Maybe it is partially down to the water?
For some reason there is now 2 versions of this. One of them is only 5%. What's that all about
Here in Galicia have 1906 by Estrella Galicia. Could you do a review? Is very popular and international. The best made in Spain. I think has some awards…
Iseth any good?

Definitely, I love the subtle fruity notes

You were right to criticise Brewdog in that last review. People like Cloudwater are embarrassing them at the moment.
Hey, Simon! Have you tried BrewDog Vs Cloudwater - New England IPA v2? The guys at BrewDog Leeds tell me it's an improvement on the Hazy Jane...
Tried this for the first time today and found it to be a very approachable IPA, maybe a good introductory IPA for people intimidated by overbearing hops. I loved the fruit flavors and nice full and smooth mouthfeel.
Stone did an unfiltered version of Enjoy By maybe 2 years ago.
They just released it in cans. It has nothing to do with NE style IPA though.
The cans of hazy jane I ordered from the brewery are 5.2% not 7.2%
Yea they changed places where they brewed it the water quality is apparently terrible and they down the percentage to get out of paying extra tax on it but it's still a nice taking brew I know this comment is 2 years out of date but it peaked my interest 😂😂
My personal favourite brewdog is 5AM Saints
Have you had Brewdog's Vermont IPA? - now that is a beautiful beer!!
indiekiduk ah fantastic! I guess New England IPA should have been the clue 😊

Really hard to find unfiltered NE style IPS! even if they advertise them as such in craft places, all i've had were filtered :(
If you can get a 12 pack on offer from Tesco or ASDA for £12 it's well worth it, refreshing and hoppy IPA.
I Think the ' Brew Dog ' flavor comes from the isomerised hop essence they have made to use for bittering, I heared somwhere its a propriertary blend
Its bloodly lovely!
Just picked up a can of this, cheers!
I heard that Trillium's makes some good ones !
Your videos are amazing !

Mercy me that looks cool! Are you a Cicerone? You really know your stuff!
Staggeringly Good beer
- we actually do have that here in Pompey. You should try some Simon!
I tried this last night - not too bad indeed!

Hazy jane is really nice
I wish I had a refined palate. All I ever taste in IPA's is grapefruit.
It was below average, although as I got the bottom of the glass I actually started to enjoy it.
Its 5% now ..whys that si ?
Alcohol tax I guess
Had this about 3 month back and tasted of sulphur didnt like it having another go tonight just had it and there is a tang to it a I don't like no sulphur this time but I dont like it
Hang on... did some see any crows floating around?
You rock that IPA in that teku glass!
Id like to see if you did a blind taste test and see if your review would be the same. Once you have formed an opinion on a product, the mind holds that thought and it will taint opinion.
Why is "tasting like a Brewdog beer" a negative trait?
I think you have to be careful as you slate all brewdog beers, I think that eventually you could find yourself at the centre of a deformation case!
Spot on with this review....This beer is very good but not at that top level. I've noticed too over the years how upscaling the beer reduced something I cant quite put my finger on! Not tropical enough imo. Too bitter and very boozy. This at 7.2% tastes a LOT stronger than Cloudwaters New England styles at 9%.
Paul Mason I agree after two your palet get numb lol
Yes i agree, however i did enjoy the 7.2% effect.
best beer in brew dog love it
I liked it ok....but too boozy. Have you tried heretic juicier than thou or make america juicy again? Cheers 🍺
Something odd on the nose for me oddly synthetic not sure what it is. Not a patch on a craft beer from the pennines.
I think having a house yeast strain is kinda lame. Brewers are always playing around with different hop/malt combinations, manipulating their water profiles to suit certain styles, so why the hell would you not do the same with yeast? Lacks imagination / brewing skill in my opinion.

It's a delicious beer and pretty cheap for a 4pack
This is down to 5% nowadays
tu ma vraiment mis l'eau(beer) a la bouche ! merci pour ta vidéo
Tbh it's a decent copy
That '''taste''' could it be quality?
They are not used to non filtration. Brewdog are becoming more irrelevant by the week? Contradicting their rebel punk gimmick. Debate.

I love this beer sorry
I'm just not as fond of Brewdog like I used to be, I used to be such an advocate for the brand, Ever since they made This.Is.Lager I started to decline my interest in them.
the yeast is how you recognize that its brewdog
Very good after a meal. Not as good by the 2nd pint... I'm leaning toward hoppy ales like Proper Job. Still refreshing by the 3rd pint. This beer 7/10. Regards. Eddie.
Don't miss out on AB:22
fuck yeah my dude
Hey Simon maybe you need to resign yourself that you have moved on from enjoying brewdog stuff.
That beer looks like you just want to drink it
Iv just tasted this and it's got a taste of burnt matches
Average beer for me, and I actually don't mind a Brewdog
It maybe the water that gives it there taste
This beer tastes of nothing - like a lot of Brewdog beers
Just drink it man! For God's sake
