Maggie, I am really glad that some of you are having this conversation. I'm deeply glad that you showed all of this, and that you told us truthfully how you felt as you went along.
It's raising a lot of expectations and causing a lot of despair to the point of giving up for many, many people, that so many ArtTubers only present their 'best' work. We never get to see the mistakes, or even the work in progress, so we never know that it happens, and so our expectations get all messed up. It's actually fraudulent misrepresentation! And they get away with it, and are encouraged to go on with it by the system.
I think that the chameleon was an incredibly difficult pose, and I couldn't work out what it was till you told us. On the other hand, as soon as you began on the cow, I had a huge grin on my face, because he was so adorable!!!!
    Thank you!!!!

Oh my sweet friend!! You did an amazing job showing off these beautiful pastels from Arrtx!! I loved hearing your thought process, and completely understood! ;D I loved seeing what in your eyes were "mistakes". I think you should keep them, so you can see your progress! I often times I think my art is a mess and I'm embarrassed to show it. I especially had a hard time with new products from Paul Rubens and Arrtx, that I didn't know how to use (like oil Pastels). I was so excited to try them...but I was afraid I would let them down. But, from my comments others enjoyed seeing my process, and my mistakes/learning! You did a wonderful job, and I loved seeing you create the cute cow! Thanks for the shout out, I knew you would love the Acrylic Markers as much as I do! 💗💗💗

@@CreatingCuteArt I just watched it in its entirety and had a smile on my face throughout the video! I love how you’re taking it all with humor and I applaud you that you didn’t delete the footage! Two things come to my mind: I think it’s only natural to hesitate when it comes to showing the … (gotta censor myself again), you know… the oopsies. But it helps so many. Secondly, I consider you to be a great artist and we’ve seen so much of you (so no matter what “failure” you present, we know what you are capable of). Yet: I think that colourful Chameleon was doomed to be a fail - and that’s not because of your skills! A colourful Chameleon, with all the reflective scales, colours of the rainbow, it’s absolutely unusual and awkward (yet still cute) anatomy, it is such a complex subject matter where every detail matters in order to make this fella even recognizable as what it is 😄 Trying a full shot of it on a small piece of paper, drawn with thick chunks of soft pastel, show me a person who could achieve that. With coloured pencils, yes, perhaps since you can go more detailed. This isn’t a medium for details or hyper realism in my opinion. It’s good as an additional mediums for backgrounds, for something more abstract, or more stylized - like your adorable calf! Happy you didn’t give up and I think you did a great job with the chameleons too, especially considering the limitations in control you have with this medium. Your message is so good: goes to show just trust your guts and do what you want ❤️ Oh, and thanks to this video I know this medium isn’t for me, maybe a few colours for smudging it into the background

Thank you so much for keeping it real. I am trying so hard to learn art skills and I’m a complete newbie and it’s discouraging sometimes when you are self taught and using RUclips as a major reference/teaching tool and all you ever see is the beautiful perfect completed artworks. So thank you for having the courage to leave this footage in and to address the fact that everyone deals with failures at times and not everything comes out perfect every time. I did totally love the little cow baby at the end. He is absolutely adorable. 😊

Always seeing the amazing results of other artists can be really killing for the creative mind sometimes. Hi Maggie, I do mixed media and soft pastels is something I do enjoy. I have various pastel sets, I recently found out how to melt the soft pastels permanently with gloss medium. So perhaps that can help you with the Chameleons you did not like. You can use regular watercolor then add soft pastels as well. I am happy you choose to to show us all of your steps.
