Our baby girl has been with us 3 wks and I hope she will talk even though girls are said not to be as clearly spoken. I think we will get her a male friend to play with but keep in separate cages as to not start breeding. Are your parakeets talking yet?!
@Luka_x I’ve heard from breeders and here on RUclips that they can start trying to talk within a few months of getting them, around 3-4 months but sound more clear by age 1. Thanks for the info! 😊

My budgie just kinda says what he thinks is nice. He says "Whatcha doin" and makes kiss noises. As well as the occasional gun sounds

I have always been told that they can’t talk. I even researched and made a whole book about budgies so I could get some. Dad ended up letting me getting one. My research said that they could talk, but everyone kept telling me they couldn’t. I’m still trying to teach my bird Lapis how to talk, and I think they are starting to learn. This really helped! You give great tips to help us with our birds. Thank you so much! Now I know that you can definitely make them talk!
And a few questions:
Is screen time bad for budgies?
Are just seeds bad for them and will they have a longer lifespan if u give them fruit?

Seeds are fine but you still need to give them a lot of fruit a only seed diet might shorten its lifespan

I don't have a budgie but I think they are precious and smart.
I have an 11 year old Cockatiel and I love her and she does say a few words.
She has laid eggs and she is DNA sexed, so I know she's not a male.
Talking or not, birds should be loved and appreciated for the loyal, social, fun and loving little pets/ family members that they are. 💕
