- Today we get a look at a Ford Interceptor Patrol vehicle from West Whiteland Police Department that costs $60,000! This patrol unit is built on Ford's brand new hybrid line of Interceptors. Using these hybrids mean less fuel ups resulting in saved costs for the department. West Whiteland Police are changing their car color from white to silver and it looks great. We get an inside look at this vehicle and get to see everything that the officers use day to day. The patrol vehicles they have greatly provide for the West Whiteland community, surrounding areas, and local events by making sure that the vehicles on the streets are safe! i really love that you are checking out police too. You should try to check out a SWAT truck
We are hoping to do one of those at some point
Ooooh swat truck
if I recall correctly SWAT trucks are kept as secret as possible so criminals don’t know their capabilities
Yeah that definitely seems like on the list

The technology they are using now is amazing. That walk from behind sensor he has on that car I had never heard of before.. It is true many cops have been killed sitting in a patrol car.. Great video...
Tech used right can save lives
It’s basically on every Vehicle with a parking sensors it also lets you know when it’s safe to lane change
Given all the challenges and risks in the streets today I’m glad they are being equipped with better cars and given all the possible technology to offer protection and apply the law appropriately. Well done.
@Zachary Just the average daily events. It's a complex society and so sensitive with laws, news, rules, cultures and economics that good equipment is needed. If it was a small country like Honduras or Paraguay, then something smaller would do it. But a 325 million people country with everything open and guns being sold like bread...
@Zachary Guns are not helping the issue but yes, mental health issues are a big problem in the US. No one speaks about it. Ukraine in NATO is more important..
Pretty thoughtful vehicle. Chuckled that room was left in front seat for gun holster yet they forgot about room for the suspected criminal’s hands in the back seat. That’s always been a huge issue
I 100% agree
In India, Police are the ones who is challenging and risky in the streets
That suv looks perfect. Nice to see first responders have the right equipment.
They should be on foot and bicycles not in a $60k SUV burning gas all day. They should be walking neighborhoods and engaging with residents.
I appreciate your comment about psychiatric issues that aren't "bad guys". Thank you for treating us like humans.
Nothing will ever beat the crown vics.
Agreed those were a beast
the impala’s were my favorite they were way faster than the crown vics but the crown vics were way more stable and handled better lol
Being a New Yorker, they use to strike fear in me when I'd see those headlights in my rearview mirror on a highway lol.
They were tough, but slow
@@Anthony-df4bs ha. Nice man those were the times
The 2021 Explorer is just amazingly clean. Love it
Thanks they like them too
@@HeroesNextDoor Cops aren't heroes. They are highly trained and choose to do the job. They are protected from misdeeds by qualified immunity. Get over yourself.
Nice name 🤣
During my first year of police work in on Lawn Guyland Noo Yawk 1967, our patrol cars were cheap, and the type popular with salesmen. The roof had a revolving red light which was the size of a medium coffee can. It flashed once per two seconds. One radio I had usually didn’t work if car was near tall buildings. When responding to emergency assignments, one hand steered, one foot pressed the siren button on the floor, other foot operated accelerator and brakes. Lots of fun in heavy traffic. Car was dark blue painted. When weather was snow, siren speaker clogged, causing a sound similar to a dying cat. Then came the Ford Crown Victorias.
Such a clean, beautiful SUV. The newer Explorers and Tahoes are my favorite.
I love the new Tahoes
same 😌
Their design is just godly. Whoever people that designed those SUVs definitely knew what they were doing and also need a raise. It’s like they were purposely made aggressive for police and also junkies alike. They’re also pretty powerful. At least to my knowledge the Explorer has an 3L Ecoboost engine that has about 400 HP as one of the engine options. Which in itself pretty decently powerful already. And the Tahoe has a 5.3L V8 that has 355 HP, which is also pretty nice considering it’s a more bigger SUV than the Explorer. Nonetheless both great vehicles performance and design wise.
@@L30GH05TDUD3 I'm personally not a fan of the new 2021 tahoes. The 2015-2020 tahoes are very sharp, but the newer designs look a bit goofy and the body lines don't flow as well as the older generations. And its too bad that their msrps will have to cost you arm and a leg to afford.
I prefer the Explorers over the Tahoes honestly. The Tahoe is great, but the Explorer is faster and handles much better. None of ours are the newest models mind, so maybe the new ones are different.
I love the flashy lights especially the ones on the bottom below the doors.

Wow I was on patrol in early 80s till 90 and we had the Fury, and the V6 Impalas had started to phase in. They were bare bones, lucky to have AC. I worked in Brooklyn NY east New York section. I had been wondering what the cars had now. I was one of the first to get a password to use the SP10 car. It had a big metal mount that held a 5” screen box type monitor. It was very slow, similar to AOL service. It really cramped the front and with accidents many got severe lacerations. Not many wore seat belts back then. Thank you for great video.
Peace
Thank you for your service and thanks for watching
This was really fun to watch

I want to see them go over the "bells and whistles" of a police bicycle 🚲.
Two wheels and a frame, maybe a reflective light if you're lucky (brakes optional)
Over a year since this video was uploaded and still love to come watch it! So cool to see and hear all the details with the gear and the vehicle itself.💙🖤
The amount of information you need to do this job is incredible
Yeah I have 28 years but always learning every day
it's not rocket science to drive around in a car harassing the people who paid for all these devices, vehicles, and your paycheck. if you think it is you're definitely poor.
@@prevaloir5362 that’s not what being a police officer is about, so many officers put their lives on the line to save people like you who don’t see the good about officers because you saw one post about one bad incident from an officer and now you think the whole police force is bad.

Greetings from West Whiteland. Great to see this video.
Thanks for watching!
Nice! I'll show this to my police colleagues here in Brazil. The only fault in the USA is when I see officers working alone. Here in my country, all police officer work is done in pairs. Always you have a brother to trust.
Typically an officer will still have a partner. They just have their own vehicle.
My partner and I both work the same area as each other and go to calls together. We usually show up on each others traffic stops
brazil also statistically has a lot more violent crime so it makes more sense. in big cities like LA and new york cops never ride around solo for that very reason.
The hybrids certainly don't have the power of a regular gas engine, but when you're parked 95% of the time it is definitely a big fuel saver, not to mention the reduction of engine idling hours. Only real issue I've found is that I'll slow down to approach an intersection, make sure it's clear, and stomp on the gas only to slowly roll for like 2-3 seconds waiting for the car to respond.
Really Love how the side lights on that FPIU looks
Yeah it looks sharp
yeah side runners. if you’re talking about below the door

What a great way to show the speeders young &,old what they've Up against a good quality fast
Great video on Explorer. Most police officers I spoke with, 9 out of 10, still prefer and miss the Crown Vic although many police depts still have them in service.
The V6 turbo seems to be problematic with the rough use by depts I'm told.
I can see why the Explorer is popular with police the comfort and storage looks great.
I'd love to have one.
For sure! This is one of the hybrid ones, some people were worried about acceleration on these, but they said it’s not that big of a deal and the gas saving is definitely worth it
v6 turbo is problematic, but the NA v6 is amazing
All wheel drive, traction control is a MUCH better setup in the northern climates. Life was miserable with open diff and rsa's spinning like crazy.
@@HeroesNextDoor it has 318 horsepower
the main issue with those is replacing the water pump, which has a 60k interval. These pumps are kind of embedded inside the timing chain area and when they start to leak, they damage the timing chain. It is a super labor extensive work and most of the shops in my area charge $2.5k - $3k to replace the pump.
love seeing these videos, the 360 photos are awesome too!
OMG I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
Thank you for watching
My first thought is $60,000 before the up-fitters even touch it. Especially considering its a hybrid.
they're upfitted from factory for the most part now. only really large agencys or state agencys go to upfitters for better unmarked cars.
These guys have lots of extras in their Explorer. My PD (I'm the mechanic) bought a new utility intercept in late 2019 (ym 2020). I think it was less than $40k for the basic version from Ford. We had a Kenwood radio, Jotto Desk, Code 3 light and siren package installed from a local up-fitter for $9,200.
That’s not 100% true. In our area all vehicles get shipped out to get up-fitted
Can you maybe also do a coast guard vessel at some point?
Really Nice Unit. Love the color.

I do love color ford explorer and lights are awesome 10 out 10
Loved it completely, just like an armadillo.
My department just picked one up..
I want to drive it 🤣
Funny you should mention the Omnicom. Somebody here in Florida got caught with one. I’m pretty sure I almost got hit by him one morning. I was driving a semi truck and pulling a tanker. I got up to the light it was red, and then in turned green. So I kept going and before I could go the distance of one tractor trailer length the light turned yellow and then it turned red. And some guy in a compact truck nearly ended up underneath the trailer. On the return trip, there were 4 police cars at the intersection hoping to catch the “ trucker “ that ran the red light so blatantly.
Jeremy D , taking notes 📝 now 😂😂😂😂

Nice looking car, I own a territory, which replaced the explorer in Australia, it looks similar

Good content, thank you for entertaining me. Good job 👍🏼
I think ALL the Patrol Police vehicles should come with Roll Cages to protect our officers in high speed chases or while they write tickets on the side of the road because TOO many people run into the back of those cruisers while they are on the side of the road. I'm sure a full roll cage would protect them a lot more than what is offered now. JM2C
the cages installed in police vehicles have them built in at the B pillar.
Yes but it also stiffens the chassis to the point there are no longer crumple zones. On a racetrack, the safety benefit is huge but in a MVC it would make it more dangerous as the impact is transferred to the officer instead of the car. Modern cars are tested for rollover rigidity as well
They would have to wear a FIA approved helmet. Cause a bare head on a roll cage is no good
High speed pursuits are banned in many jurisdiction when it affects public safety and a roll cage is not necessarily effective for a rear, front or side impact.
The Taurus interceptor and police utility ( explorers) both have 75 mph rear end collision ratings, which is huge since police vehicles have a high rate of rear end collisions since they are often parked on the side of highways for various reasons
The steering wheel buttons can be used by the blue print system in the cruiser.
Have a good day Anthony of. England
Nice car 👍👍
It sure is!
This is my second best looking car when it comes to Law enforcement cars, I’d put Chargers 1st. For the past years, I liked the explorers design but this 2021 design is a lot better than previous ones
Yeah they look sharp and the silver color is pretty sweet looking too
@ohfuck no bruh what they don’t even have problems but good try
@ohfuck no 1973 called, it wants it's stereotype back.
@ohfuck no Bro, literally every brand has recalls lol. At least Ford fixes the issues on their cars where they come up. Brands like Nissan and Honda leave customers out to dry and pretend like their products don't have well known reliability issues.
I really like it you should use long range tesla for dog mode for k9unit it displays temperature on screen and keeps ac or heat on another reason the 8 built in dashcam angles and sentry mode that records anyone looking into the vehicle while your gone. no wasted gas while idling and they have quick acceleration. Cybertruck would be cool especially because they are rated bullet proof for 9mm.
Netflix and hulu disney plus are built in for police waiting around.
A couple stations have been testing out the teslas. The biggest hurdle is usually the price
@@HeroesNextDoor I am happy to here that they are trying teslas. Tesla wants to bring price down in the future maybe they will make a police package when demand is less. Merry Christmas thanks for replying on Christmas day.

They cancelled on us but we are trying to reschedule
5:08 Does that body cam work, when the officer makes a mistake?
Yep. Just like every human
Awesome video. One thing I did notice is you often talk over individuals on these videos. It makes it hard to hear what the person is saying when there are people talking over one another. It would also just show that sense of respect to the individual showcasing their trade.
Thanks for watching sorry it comes across that way. Some of it is editing some is me leading the questions cause they don’t feel comfortable on camera and some is me learning to interview also. I have improved and will continue to work on it. There is no disrespect intended at any time !
@@HeroesNextDoor Thanks for the insight. I can see this whole process developing behind the scenes haha. My respect to police, they serve and protect
Even when other hate just to hate not knowing who the person is behind the uniform

Can I just say, without the lights on, many people wont see it immediately. Thats why most of Europe uses a color combination of neon yellow and blue with gray
The ability to have it blend in is an advantage. Jurisdiction where I live has ghost striping on their traffic cars. Works really well for blending in and observing violations.
Love it!

The Explorer Police Interceptor Utility hybrid AWD accelerated from 0 to 100mph in 17.7 seconds.
Dodge Durango Pursuit 5.7-liter V-8 does it in 18.3 seconds. And the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3-liter V-8 AWD takes 20.2 seconds.
A 2010 Ford Police Interceptor (Crown Vic) 4.6 L took 22.4 seconds.
Just because the crown Vic had a V8 doesn’t mean sh**. It was slow, handles poorly, and was horribly inefficient. While I agree they are fun to drive/own because of how ridiculously bulletproof they are, this explorer hybrid overall is way faster, efficient, and more spacious.
Very informative video. I'm curious if when you are dispatched on a call if GPS is utilized for on-screen or audible step-by-step directions to the address or general area. I'm sure that over time you get very familiar with your patrol area but you can't possibly know individual streets.
The EMS and fire use gps to dispatch 2nd calls but I don’t think the police do. It’s rare that they would leave there areas
Tahoe or Explorer? What is better for police work?
I think it depends on the budgets
