Just to be clear, Golden bought Williamsburg when the original founder died in 2009. They keep to the same high standards - and they are lovely!
That’s a nice box. Spray the back of the canvas with hot water and dry with heat. And it’ll go back to normal. Sagging can happen during shipping due to humidity etc and other things.
Awesome, thanks, April!
@@MirandaWatsonArt you’re Welcome Miranda 🥰
Yeah for the pricepoint Ive seen Waaayyy better quality out of them than Sketchbox for a long time. I only do sketchbox when the do a pick 10 or bogo.
That's a big bottle of linseed oil for a subscription box! I've never heard of Williamsburg paints - interesting that they're owned by Golden. They make great products! These paints looked buttery smooth and I'd have been wishing for white as well. I'm glad you added some in - it's so crucial for oil paintings, isn't it! Your boat turned out really pretty and it looked like a lot of fun to paint. Makes me want to get the oil paints out now but I don't have time before we travel, so it's gonna have to wait, lol!
Your trip will be worth the wait!
Yeah for oils!!! Happy to see this one :)
Thanks, Deb!
Golden is just a great company. They recently acquired PanPastels too.
Yes! They seem to acquire the really high-quality companies, which is great!
The last box! After seeing the videos with all the boxes piled up, this is quite an achievement!🎉🎉🎉
For sure!
You can tighten canvases of any sizes by adding water to the back, rubbing it to the material and letting it dry. As it dries it stretches back out.
Thank you!
I love how the painting turned out!!!!
If you haven’t tried it yet, try spritzing the back of the canvas with water. As it dries it might tighten up😊 I LOVE your boat! Made me want to get my oils out again❤
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
@@MirandaWatsonArt let me know if it works!!❤️❤️
Last subscription box sounds so sad! I love receiving Paletteful Packs, but I have stopped my subscription for now. I feel I should use the art supplies I have already received before I get more. But I will likely subscribe again some day!
It IS sad, but it's good for the space in my studio, lol.
Hi Miranda,
The puppies are so playful and fun to watch!😅
Wow! That white sure made a difference with the other colors. Your boat and the ground look great! Wonderful job.
Thanks, Diane. The puppies are really fun to watch.
Loved watching you work with these! I'm a bit sad that this is your last paletteful box. I look forward to seeing all the other projects you have planned.
Thanks, Revonda. 😊
Fun to watch you do things I'll never do (like oil painting). It's hard enough to get myself to break out the acrylics. Watercolor FTW! Of course, if I lived near your college in Colorado, I'd be tempted by the oil painting class. Thanks for showing us how amazing oil painting is/can be. Happy Tuesday.
Thank you - it is a fun medium to paint with. 🎨
Boxes like these make me wish I was still subscribed!
Right?
This painting is gorgeous!! You've made me want to try oil!
Thank you! Oils are quite fun, but watercolor is still my first love. :-)
These oil paints looked very smooth and the painting was great. I wonder if I can find these paints in Europe. Have a great week, Miranda. Have fun with colours, cats and canines.
Thanks, Valerie! I did see them on Jackson's website, and I believe I put a link in the description box, so yes, you can get them in Europe! Of course, that's assuming that Jackson's is synonymous with being able to get them in all of Europe, and that's probably not accurate, so we'll see.
This painting turned out just beautifully!! And those oils look really nice to work with. Okay. Trying to do some oil painting is officially on my summer to do list.
Can't wait to see it! And thank you. 😊
Loved your oil painting! You adapt so easily when things go a little crazy, or not as planned! Brilliant!
Thank you. 😊
I would LOVE to see more Oil Art from you Miranda. You're very good at it! ❤
Aw, thank you! I love oil painting. Not quite as much as watercolor, but it's in second place.
How does it feel, knowing that next month and the succeeding months there won't be a an art box in the mailbox, Miranda?
2nd question: how about asking the girls to study your inventory & / or raid your studio and make up surprise 'subscription' boxes for you from your own stock instead?
This was a very 'real' video - seeing the struggles you had and how your resolved them, and ended up with a lovely painting of a boat. I wish there were a lot more like you, Maggie, Becky, Moni, who actually do 'real, and so encourage us to be real in our self-expectations. Thank you! 😊.
Aw, you're so sweet, Barney. Now on to your questions: it definitely feels bittersweet to be the last box. It's always exciting to see what's going to be in the box, and I'll miss that, but it will also be good not to have a large backlog of supplies that I might not use very often. Your idea about the girls making up boxes is such a fun one! Once I get through my very long list or if I get bored, I'm definitely doing that! Or maybe I'll just throw it in the mix randomly for fun! Thank you! ❤️
To Tighten canvas try spraying with water back and front.
Thank you!
Beautiful painting! I’m a sucker for boats. Oil painting supplies would be wasted on me, I’m afraid. That is my hesitation with art sub boxes, I know it’s a nice way to try new things, but if there are supplies I already know that I don’t want, it would be a waste to pay for them. The pure watercolour boxes would be lowest risk for me, but, I might as well just buy the exact items/supplies and colours I want to try 😂. Still low-buying it here, so I’m not spending money anyway 😂🎉.
Wise choice. They are fun but they also tend to be a bit much after a while.
Ive seen another youtuber spray the back of the canvas liberally with water...she said that when it dries it tightens up the canvas. I have not tried this yet to confirm.
Okay, thank you!
Remember when Bob Ross does "Liquid Clear?" That's just straight linseed oil - thus his caution to use the smallest amount possible! So you did wet on wet technique! (Liquid White is just white that's very diluted with oil.) I've never tried cleaning oil paint with oil, but "oil removes oil" because it dilutes the pigment so it washes away. The oil remains in the brush, but it conditions it. But I'm betting you don't have to use pure linseed - something cheaper is probably fine!
Yes on all that. 😀
Just popped in to say: first! 😂
Hopefully, I am not last.
