I like what I saw of the first episode. It's not a "he's clearly not into you, why are we sitting through this?!" situation, he actually does have an interest in Tomo but he doesn't know exactly how to process it as they've been great friends forever and he's nervous about considering those feelings.
Yeah, that is a great thing about this anime, I'm so tired of the one-sided love in this kind of anime, I came to watch a romance and comedy, not a tragedy!
Its not a "am i really in love with my friend?" Its a "oh god im in love with my best friend"
I watched the 2 first episodes, and I dont know why but I feel like the exact opposite.
For me the guy is like: "My best bro is a girl and I get nervous when she acts too girly-like, cause I dont wanna be in a romantic relationship with her. I just want a bro."
I also dont understand why the characters act like he is super dense, when he knows pretty clearly whats happening.
She is miles more dense than him.

Im gonna give the third episode a shot, but I think I maybe drop it after that.

EDIT: OK, HOLY SH*T I just did it for the sh*ts and giggles and discovered that Limit Break X Survivor (DBS ToP's opening song) with Tomo's opening works way better than it should, THIS IS SO UNREAL

I really like the lyrics. It's basically Tomo's frustration wishing she could directly beam her feelings into Jun's mind through telepathy so that they can get past the delicate, confusing nitty gritty of their hormonal teenage love.
The lyrics are really well put together, they are very easily relatable with and expressive.
The op is edited in a fun way also, rly cute anime, it was great

Something about this song, and actually the whole series in general, gives me the vibes from old romcoms from the 2000's. and that is such a good/rare thing these days. Tomo-chan really reminds me of one of my favorite romcoms of all time, Lovely Complex. The dynamic of the mc's is just pure comedy gold but you can tell the romance is still going somewhere bit by bit... hopefully?
As someone who did watch Lovely Complex for the first time inbetween watching Tomo Chan is a Girl every week I definitely see the similarities. They both fit their respective times.

Of possible interest only to me: if you watch the opening "fight" sequence in slow motion, you'll see that Jun never once punches or kicks back or even attempts to. Not once. The worst he does is grab Tomo by the collar, even though Tomo is punching/striking/kicking him as hard as she can.
The anime is signaling from literally its opening seconds that Jun DOES see Tomo as a girl.

The two of them trying to walk faster than the other until it devolves into all-out sprinting is both hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. It's ridiculous but it's completely in line with who they are and Tomo is even smiling throughout the whole affair. Ah, such a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Love the first four combative seconds, it gives off the energy of a 90's cartoon (maybe something along the lines of Angry Beavers or Ed, Edd, n Eddy). Definitely one of the better romcom anime I've seen.
