Plus, leveraging One World Emerald status to reserve that JL mini-cabin. Nicole, great news, I believe 2024 is the last year we have access to unlimited legacy GOH benefits. Serena, your walking tour to the back of your CX flight cracked me up! My takeaway from your experience is to avoid the back of the plane...I definitely don't want to catch something "back there"! Your episode always make my Friday! I also used my Amex Fine Hotels credit for 1 night at GH Taipei. It made the most sense based on the cash rate ($265 for that night), along with the $100 credit.
For Nicole, I have flown Japan Airlines economy (cash rate) and thought it was great. Service was good. Food was good. I’ve also flown its business too. If using AA miles, I also think only for the business, not the economy. But if good cash rate, economy is good too, just not using 35K AA miles (imo). Those AA miles are just too valuable and the difference of 35K and 60K is not huge.

For back up flights, how late can you cancel them ?
Hi! It will vary by airline. The large US carriers allow cancellation up to departure, Southwest must be 10 min before departure, Frontier and Spirit can have fees. It’s always best to check with the specific carrier.
