You're a brave and confident man doing this with no help, good luck.
I'm not a builder but after subscribing to the channel, i'm gonna build my own house! What could possibly go wrong :) great watching you Rodian.
Been there done that you looked how i feel sometimes mate.
Lovely ground to dig not like that in wales all stone and clay here.
Anyway tidy job on your tod so fairplay another good video
Justin brickright 👍
Where is the rebar /steal to support the concrete for the footings
Great work Rodian! however, I am astonished there is zero reinforcing steel in those footings. Unreinforced concrete is something that is not common here in New Zealand.
Well done for videoing on what was a very tiring day - job looks good 👍
Not good that the driver left the concrete there. You did an awesome job here bro all ny youself. Super impressed great watch
Jeez that’s a big tamp 😳 and as for straddling those trenches I can’t remember the last time I could spread my legs that wide ! 😵, great job Rodian 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
It was a it in the big side but it worked out ok in the end. I didnt think I was getting up at a few points straddling there 🤣🤣
😬😂😂🧱👍🏼
That went well , iv'e never seen such sandy ground !! Good video . Thanks.
I've never built on ground so sandy! Just kept going!!!!
Great video Rodian, pretty much how I would do it, only my tamp would be half the size. And for levelling around...ah, I recorded a lesson of mine on my phone (in the classroom) and sent it to my students explaining the setting out and the concreting...I might upload it..but then I might not. Just to say I use fence pins and tape, but you'd need a laser level rather than your optical.
Yeah that tamp was a bit on the heavy side after about 2/3 of the way round. I'd say upload it for sure, more than just your students can hopefully learn from it. You're a bricklaying instructor? After messing around with that optical level to set out, I'm definitely looking at getting a laser level but still dubious about reliability. I've heard some horror stories about them.
I've had my laser for about 8 years and only had it capibrated once. It is so easy to use, self levels and the battery lasts ages. I highly recommend it... Just don't set the laser ay eye height.
Oh yes
I'm teaching on Wednesday nights to help out at the moment and see how it goes
8 years! Nice, must be a good it of kit, what one do you have? Wouldnt mind checking it out. Last thing you'd want is a laser right in the eyeball 🙈 I'd better make sure I keep my future brickwork bang on if I have a tutor watching 🤣 Let me know if I slip up 😁👍🏻
my laser is by Red Survey
Well done mate , great job
Nice job mate 👍🏻
Cheers buddy 👍🏻😁
Those foundations were very deep, as a matter of interest where was this build, I'm guessing south coast?
Any rebar?
2:13 aerosol can thrown in the concrete nice 👍
“Jiggery -Pokery” 😂😂😂
Any reason why you opted not to use reinforced concrete?
where is the steal mesh for reinforcement in concret ?
Didn't need mesh in the concrete. Will do when it comes to screening the floor.
@@RodianBuilds min footing depth according to build' regs' is 150mm. And up to 225mm, the building controls may ask for reinforcement for a house build.
I did ask and they said it wasnt needed.
@@RodianBuilds i'm in the process of building a house myself. Still excavating. Got building controls popping round on Monday 7/10/2019. I feel they may want reinforcement around the two bay windows. Got a few vids i may put up. Still trying to master videoing. Looks easy, but how time consuming. Appreciate the vids you put up for us to see.
Do masons/ bricklayers typically make concrete foundations?
do you mind me asking what it cost just for the poured concrete?
why no rebar ?
Ground reminds me of Florida. They just shoot a raft on the sand and build on that.
Raft foundations are so good! I'd love to come to Florida.....one day 🤣
Hi Rodian, love the channel! One thing that surprised me was that I always thought any concrete poured into the ground, a foundation, footing, whatever, had to be isolated from the surrounding with plastic membrane / DPC on all sides? Obviously not the case? Or is it only when you have steel reinforcing in it so it won't rust and blow? I notice you didn't use steel here, is it just a matter of using more / deeper concrete to save on using steel?
There is no way i would build a house on that ground on a strip foundation! ,good job on the pump you would never have managed it with wheelbarrows ,too many collapses.
Been and watched all these vids, a point to all listening: How much weight has gee-zah lost!! DUDE!
pro tip: watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Zeke Malachi Definitely, I've been watching on Flixzone for since december myself =)
Hi Rhodian, how many cube of concrete was that pour?
So how did you work out the total amount of concrete??
I went round every trench with a tape and measured the length, width and depth. Took me bloody ages 🤣
@@RodianBuilds hi so could you not work it out from the plans??
@@RodianBuilds there is a handy app called handy man on the Google store check it out I know it is a bit late now but IAM sure u will be doing something else somewhere else so it will come in handy??
I did take an initial measurement from the plans but there us generally some discrepancies on site so took another set of measurements. I'd rather order from the site measurements than plans, just in case. I'll take a look at that app, cheers for the recommendation 👍🏻😁🧱
Excuse me where’s your house
I'm from Surrey
No need to order sand to start building then lol
Ha ha definitely not 🤣
Does no rebar go in foundations anymore just concrete in a hole 😂🤣wouldn’t want to stay in your house
I've only ever put rebar in foundations once, and that was for a block of flats. It only goes in if the architect puts it on the plans.
Dont he think he wants you staying so dont worry about it!
You talk alot please. Let us see the work
