McEnroe underachieved in 82 and 83 due to a lack of training but he still won 7 slams. I believe that he is one of the most talented players ever to play the game and certainly, with Borg, the most talented of his generation.
I got to see him play edberg semis Wimbledon. I’ve been to a lot of major sporting events but to witness macenroe hit live was the most beautiful and significant thing I’ve ever seen in sports.
@@bellazoe1 Yes. The way he controlled much more powerful opponents through superior racket skill was wonderful to watch. In this way he is similar to Federer for me. Although racket tech and court speeds are completely different now.
He himself said a lot of that was due to Bjorn Borg's retirement. He'd made Borg his number one target and when he suddenly retired, McEnroe said it really affected him and he struggled for motivation for a couple of years.
Ya raqueta aluminio contra la de madera pero técnicamente es difícil jugar con raqueta de madera ...no puedes liftar mucho...pero las muñecas de esos jugadores son más que los de hoy
you are right that Jose-Luis should have upgraded his racquet to attempt to match : at least in terms of racquet surface. however John's was not aluminum but mold-injected graphite.
John once said that he played an awful lot of players who were taller stronger more powerful, quicker even sometimes than he was but who never seemed to have the drive to go over the finish line before him I wonder if Luis qualified in that list?

Ahora si grita Que Lindooooooooo hasta que te hartes, que buena repasada te pusieron Batata jeje
Unbelievable that Clerc played 1984 still with an wooden racket.
Jimmy Arias too.
He was an excellent player and doesn't get enough credit. He and Lendl were the force brute force guys in tennis

Q jugador clerc, le falto explotar mas su potencial, pero podia pelear el numero uno tranquilamente con todas estas bestias
I love you John. ❤️❤️❤️
But Clercs inside out forehand with that small wooden racket is a beauty to watch!! If Mcenroe had that.. then..
World Team Cup was always in Düsseldorf.

Que liiiiindooo
The racquet of clerc was really small
❤❤
Dame números batata🔥
Unbelievable , that Clerc is playing a wooden racket in 1984, indicating his way downwards. He was already way over his peak .
He won Boston and DC just 8 months earlier.
clerc great
McEnroe beat Clerc 6-3:6-3
ich glaub es war 6-3,6-1, hab das Spiel damals live gesehen
@@berndeigner8837Es war 6-3, 6-3. Der zweite Satz war ein ziemliches Break-Festival.
Clerc a very talented player who underachieved. Head with McEnroe was 5-6. 7-7 with Lendl. 2-3 versus Lendl.
