How to Clean and Condition a Gel Plate

- This is how I clean and condition my gel plates, I don't do it every time I use the plate (sometimes I like a bit of a grungy build-up), but every couple of months or so, I give them a good going over.

BRAVO!!!❤
G'morning, Kari!🌸🌿
Good morning Tina, I hope you have a lovely day! 🥰
Does the baby oil change the quality of function of the gel plate?
Hi Janet, no the baby oil helps it work better, if anything, just wipe it all off before you use it again! 💗
Hi Kari, this was perfect timing for me! Thank you for sharing. I am glad to know it is normal for the paint to stick to it a little bit. I was not sure as I have only used it one time. Very helpful Kari...thank you!
You are so welcome, Jovi, yes the paint does stick occasionally and can be quite stubborn to remove. Oooh, you need to use yours more, heheheh! 💗💗
Gosh your gel plate is well pampered today eh?
Waxed and then massaged with oil 😂
I always thought you just put more paint to do ghost printing as a cleaning procedure...
I love your gel plates, even the clean up is super relaxing. They definitely are loved and well looked after.
They get better treatment that I do, LOL! Yeah, I get most of the paint off with ghost prints, but sometimes they paint won't come off, so that is when they get a good pamper. 🥰
Thank you for sharing with us Kari. But i can't help but notice the beautiful round wooden stamp just a little off screen, it's gorgeous ❤
And my only concern with my gel plate is that, the surface seem to have bumps which creates a bubbly surface, do you know what i mean? I doubt it can be fixed but it still kind of works.
Thanks Maria, that round wooden stamp was an ornament from a charity shop, so I dismantled it and have used it a bit for some gel prints. I do know what you mean about the bubbles on the plate, Gelli Arts suggest we lay it on a flat smooth surface overnight and the bumps should go. I haven't tried it, but hopefully that works! 💗💗
Thank you Kari. I shall be doing this to my gel plate. Take care.🥰😊
Thanks Margaret, you take care too! 🥰
Thank you for sharing. Looks great. Mine could sure use a good cleaning
Hehehe, thank you, my gel plates quite often look a bit messy! 🥰🥰
Da dah!! Looks brand new❤
I know, it is a very satisfying result! 🥰🥰
Thank you so much!!
You are welcome, Valerie - thanks so much for watching! 💗
Thanks for sharing! 💙🦋
Thanks for watching Lisa, I hope it helps anyone wanting to know how it is done! 💗💗
Good to know! Tyfs😊
Thanks Christy! 🥰🥰
I still need to get one! Heeheehee
It is time, Tina, it is time to treat yourself! 🥰
I've had mine for about um....8ish years, dont think I've cleaned it once 😝
Heheh, I must confess, it's a rare occasion when I clean mine! 😅
@@KariGibsonArtits just soo interesting the effects you can get from not cleaning it
Hi Kari. Thank you for this. My question is, I've heard that the paper can cause air bubbles on the surface of the plate that then show in your prints? What do you think please? x Nell.
Hi Nell, any surface can cause air bubbles, the plastic they come with, the clamshell it is stored in, the tins they advertise, so I stick with the paper and I pay attention to make sure there are no air bubbles. Gelli Arts recommend that if you do get air bubbles to place the plate on a hard flat surface overnight. I hope that helps! 🥰
@@KariGibsonArt thank you. Yes, fantastic advice! So appreciated Kari! x Nell.
Interesting process. What type of oil are you using?
It is a mineral oil for babies, LOL! 🥰🥰
@@KariGibsonArt Perfect!
Oooh nice and shiny and new... I didn't know how to do it as I just leave it as is... I love all those crusty bits.. Then I haven't used mine for quite sometime so I might do it, thanks for showing how to 😁😁❤️
Thanks Elaine, I do find it very nice to have a good as new plate again, although I do generally allow a bit of build up form, but sometimes the bits just don't come off and just interfere with the next print, so it is time to clean. Mostly though, I leave it be! 🥰🥰
@@KariGibsonArt it depends on what you want to achieve in the print I suppose, I'm just slap dash 😂😂❤️
I love that style myself, although I would love to be able to do really tidy prints (one day)!
@@KariGibsonArt yes if that's what you want to do then it's all in the practice, practice, practice😊😊
