Wow! Sort of Pop Art meets Gel Plate in the Twilight Zone....or simply extremely creative gel plate use. Very cool and definitely unique. Thank you for sharing this!
Exciting and dynamic content! Thank you for taking the time to teach me about new products that I haven't used before, different techniques, to stay positive when things don't happen the way I want and to carry on anyway and new layering ideas. Excellent finished pieces!
Wow, my brain is in overdrive seeing this. I love working on my gel plates; but your creativity is so inspiring. What brilliant work, and the results are amazing!! Thanks for sharing your amazing work!
Thank you for sharing! It's so inspiring and I learn a lot from you. Amazing technique! Can I ask what kind of paper you've pulled the print with? I tried it with multimedia paper, but I think it is to thick. ( sorry for my English, not nativ language for me). ❤
Thanks. I also use multi media paper. Mine is by Canson - Imagine Mixed media paper 200gsm. Can I ask what issues you are having with the paper you have chosen?
Really inspirational. Your work is what I had aspirations for when I considered getting a gel plate. Could you please let me know who the backing track is by? Keep up the great videos!
Amazing talent here Mark. You obviously know exactly what you are doing. However I just can't get my head around what I just watched, lol! Same with some other videos I've viewed, many of which seem to do it slightly different than the last. I am so confused about the whole geli plate printing process in general. How do I start? Is it a case of working in layers from back to front (even that sounds complicated)? Should I know how the finished art should look or just do random stuff? Think I've watched too many videos coz my brain is boggled! 😜 Seems everyone and their dogs are geli printing with great zeal and success and my plate is still new and unused, lol!
I think start simple. When I started I decided to pick one image, which was the same one in this video a man’s head and I set myself a task to do ten images using this same portrait but to try different techniques on each print allowing myself to become familiar and understand the printing process. Just start by doing one or two layers, cut out some paper shapes use them as masks for the first layer and then and the second layer of colour over the top and print and then work your way up to trying more complicated things as your confidence grows, experimenting is key in understanding gel printing things work and sometimes things don’t but it doesn’t really matter in the end, just have fun.
💪🏼👹! Super! While I watched it I tried to guess the steps. Still haven't make my first one. I have everything to start. Now learning following two more which for my taste are the top here- at least- Thanks for your time.
I love your videos and I get excited when I get a notification that a new one was released. I, too, missed the voice over. Mostly because I couldn’t figure out when you transferred the head onto the Gelli plate. Watched multiple times. A lot of time viewing cutting out the acetate (?) but not figuring when the head went down. Nonetheless, I loved the video and the two prints. I have 7 cans of liquitex acrylic spray paint calling out to me. Time to go play.
Thanks, it’s nice to know people get excited to see new stuff from me. Sometimes I find it a struggle to find the time to did a voice over, as I have to do it separately from when I’m videoing, and I wanted to also try a few different things to, they won’t all be like this. As for when the head went down, it kind of didn’t in a way as I really just made a silhouette by creating the background first, then I wanted the drips on these to be at the forefront and then I just added the small details of what I could see in the face after. Then the infill of the rest of the face was the lilac and off white colours of the two prints which finished off the heads. Hope that kind of makes sense??
Love how the two prints turned out! What material did you use to trace the figure? It seemed to stick really well to the gelli block so I assumed it wasn’t regular tracing paper.
I normally dry each layer completely by using a hairdryer on its lowest heat setting and on its slowest speed setting. I always keep it moving and have it a decent height above the plate. The fluid acrylic drips I left to dry over night as these take a long time to dry. Then after I have laid my final wet layer down and added my paper I leave, generally, to dry over night with some weights on top. If you feel the back of your print, when it’s still down on your plate, if it’s cold to the touch, it’s probably still a bit wet, if this happens to me I either leave it a bit longer or give it a blast with the hairdryer again and normally that will be enough to get a decent pull. Hope that helps.
First thank you for your time! I'm learning a lot here. I have one question if you have the time. Whe you use permanent marker and some left on the plate after pulling the final print, how do you clean it? Also with oil? Thanks.
Yes oil will get it off, I would normally put a decent amount on, say 4/5 good size drops, then massage it all over but giving extra attention to where the stain is, then leave for 5mins and wipe off excess with a soft rag or similar. If the stain is still there, repeat until removed.
This music is really good!
@@rhiannonseabolt9340 yes it’s a cool track.

Thanks you, that’s a very kind comment. Glad you like my stuff.
I love watching and learning from your experiments. Also the blue-black background is amazing. Thank you for sharing, Mark!🌹❤️
My pleasure. Thanks for watching, it’s appreciated.
Cool layering. Spray paint left a very clean even look.
Thanks. Yes the spray paint works well on the gel plate, I like using it now and again.
CAPTIVATING! 😊 and also lost for words!
Thanks

Brilliant!!! Your art creations are incredible. I also love your choice of background music for this video.
Thanks. Yes I thought I’d try one with music and no talking. It’s definitely going to split the pack I know.

Thanks. Your right it is a thick acetate, like you would use on an overhead projector.
How long do you let each layer dry. So far I can't seem to pick up all layers when pulling a print. Love this technique.

You should try a swivel blade.
Thanks I’ll look into it.
Yeah, it might save you some time. @@gelwithmark
I miss your voiceovers
I was just trying something different on this video.
Weird
🤣 I don’t know if that’s good or bad!
Nichts für Anfänger, wenig erklärend
👍🏻
Nice work - but was that awful music really necessary?
😂
