Interesting for you to say that it makes it look more modern. To me it's the exact opposite. Partially because it looks like they tried to pay homage to old Skyline GT-R quite a lot.
But in a good way
You're right
I see what you're saying
I completely agree .the front end looks like the old gtr
The front looks meh tbh, they could have done way better
Never wanted to go back to 2007 so badly... tho the front grill reminds me of the R34 so maybe they gonna do something more like that in the next one, and i hope its in a new body
V8 4Runner, I desire it. Generally an awesome time to be a car enthusiast.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 i was talking about the original GT-R, but the 4runner is cool i guess, specially the 90s one
I would guess this is the last ice Skyline
We need new R36, not a recycled R35 that been around for 15 years. If anything they should take retro looks like the New Z. R36 with elements of the short lived R34. Also, where the hell is new S16? Sentra?
It’s ugly so much going on ,it’s riced Up! Previous nismo was 🤌🏽 … this some need for speed 🤬
The new car feels less boxy and more aerodynamic with the new front and rear. As you said, the car looks way lighter than previous generations. I can only wonder what crazy stuff the aftermarket will have in store for these cars.
Pretty cool what a few lines can do
It's a facelift still the same engine with same aftermarket parts. Don't need to wonder. Everything has been done in its long 15 years.
True clean retro for me but the old one 2017 is much more futuristic its my opinion sorry
It’s 3900lbs how’s that light?
@@jbphilly1234 lol 😂 I think it’s safe to say just get mk5 for 60k fully loaded and downpipe tune e50=550whp depends on tuners aka botti sauce get you there $2000 for that or if you want to go krazy pure 850 turbo = 700whp or more depends on tune 750whp is max for that turbo some day 770whp so botti sauce tune again also at those levels transmission stage 0 would be good 👍 $2000 + 2800 + 4000=8800 parts = 2500labor and supporting mods=11300 or so 12k let’s say got 700+whp and 700+wtq if you don’t want stage 0 tranny =7300$ mods and labor but torque 600wtq max before it’s starts slipping so as long as under 600tq for 7300 or so got 9 sec car 9.8 or so quarter
The new version is a nice, clean retro design. The added horizontal lines really make it feel beefier and more confident than the previous version which felt like it was trying too hard to look cool.
How is it retro
@@falcongamer58 It brings back the look of the classic R34
@@jbphilly1234 And does it really matter? Some people hate new technologies in cars.
@@automation7295 only 5% 😂..
I don't think being retro was intentional, it feels retro cause the car is old
Never been a car that's more impactful to me than the gtr, this facelift brings a solid horizontal line to the front and rear of the car which connects it more to the skyline era. Absolutely love that, have to work harder to be able to buy one before they stop making it.
I think I'll be on my deathbed when Nissan finally replaces the GTR
True🤣
The GTA 5 of cars, sounds like Rockstar also losing money on developing new games
Bruh why don’t they just end the r35, here in Canada it’s so overpriced it’s not even worth it. Where’s the r36 lol
Yea I want something new too
I swear that people these days think that car generations shouldn't be allowed to in production for over 15 years.
So what? First generation Toyota Century was in production for 30 years.
Just because the R35 is overpriced in your country doesn't mean they should end it, also it's worth it for some people, the world doesn't revolve about you. People on RUclips comments are so dominating and disrespectful. I guess you people are so dominating and disrespectful to other people in real life?.
@@automation7295 yeah man the whole world revolves around me because I think it would be cool to get a new generation of the gtr lol
they took some designn inspiration for the front upper grill from the R34 GT-R
I really love the R34 link in the front with the black bumper becoming a part of the rest of the body color. The rear is a clear improvement. Looks really good
I think what Nissan is trying to go for is the right evolutionary step. However, it would have worked best if they had ditched the R35 platform and went with something completely new. The body, front and rear have no connection to each other anymore. But I think it’s clear that they are calling back to the older models, especially the R34 in the front. It would be nice if the R36 (when it comes out) could manifest even more R34/3/2, I think a modernised JDM look would be fantastic! I am absolutely confident that Nissan can pull this of, the new Z is proof that they still value their heritage.
We need new R36, not a recycled R35 that been around for 15 years. If anything they should take retro looks like the New Z. R36 with elements of the short lived R34. Also, where the hell is new S16? Sentra?
@@lucky889s9 this👆
Well nissan japan news said to make the new r36 with combustion engine will cost them a billion.
I think going for something completly new but with hints of the original designs would be great
The thing is it is so expensive to build a new sports car these days, and sports cars have been a niche product so it's hard to make the R&D money back in a few years. Look at Corvette and Porsche they have been doing the same thing, each generation just an evolution of the previous for decades (well until Corvette realized they should have listened to Duntov from the C3 onward). The basics are the same but this 2024 GT-R is an enormous leap forward from the 2007 original in terms of driving dynamics and reliability thanks to incremental evolutionary changes over the years. I mean they could pull a Toyota and slap a hardtop and stiff shocks on another automaker's product and call it done, but it won't be a GT-R.
This has to be the R35 Cher Edition by now. Constant facelifts, never ending farewell tours, and still going strong enough!
The front end is 50:50 for me. Reminds me for the R34 but on the other hand it feels quite weak or soft with those curved body colored piece below the grill
If you paint a fake gaping grill on any other car as a mod... People will laugh at you
The new body color grille looks way better in my opinion. Makes it look much more connected to the GTR’s previous generations’s designs.
I can see that!
But it kinda makes the car look older than it already is. The previous design was more modern and aggressive
But it kinda makes the car look older than it already is. The previous design was more modern and aggressive
Kinda GTR34ish the sepparate grille
I prefer the 2022 version
Older model looks better and has more consistent lines. Wish the new one had more modern looking front and rear lights. That would change the looks a lot.
It's not modern... It's retro... People who prefer the old one are just used to it. This new design will grow on you
I love both facelifts honestly, The new one gives a more "classic" look to it. But I'm happy they didn't change much in the rear. I am considering selling my current one (2017) and getting the new one.
Bro. The 2017 looks the best.
Don't sell lol
Your gtr gonna worth more than this one in the future lol
I have a 2017, and I saw this in person at TAS.. It's the first time I see a new gt-r coming that I don't want to buy. When DBA came out I always wanted the DBA looks so I changed the bumper, but now I switched to EBA for the new interior etc., but this one looks to me like a step back in design. The new bumper would have looked OK if they changed the headlights to look more like R34..
I would get the new one. The fake gaping grill is rice mods on any other car but somehow people liked it on the R35.
honestly I think this is the best look the R35 has had but I can see why a lot of people wouldn't like it, kinda looks like a bug lol
also notice how they got rid of the V shaped grill and the new fog lights and diffuser are hexagon-shaped, calling it now the next GTR is gonna keep that theme, and maybe a front end more reminiscent to the R-34
I also think they are trying to use the hexagons as a new gtr design language, and testing it now is a great move
How is this the best look? Objectively is a bunch of convoluted lines and stuff that doesn't make sense with the original design.
The fog lights for example, look out of place and the new front bumper from the T Spec looks much worse than the original 2007 design, completely outdated
Bembli is probably trying to get on the good side of Nissan and help design something for them someday.
@@dybixs1400 You know people have different opinions? Some people like the 2024 facelift, some don't and some like both the facelift and pre-facelift.
Also some people don't care that the fog light look out of place. You may think this car is outdated, but in reality, you still see cars from 1990's, 2000's and 2010's on the road.
I guess you're the type of person who hates when people still own outdated cars?
@@dybixs1400 like I said, I can see why people wouldn't like it, I do think the regular one looks worse than before now, but the nismo still looks better *_in my opinion_*
The new front bumper gives me Mustang/Skyline vibes: I prefer the 2021 because it feels more unique
If you see this on the road, I bet you're going to hate the driver and hope he crashes into a tree and die.
Same bro
They need new R36 badly, not another facelift for 15yr old model
@@lucky889s9 Does it really matter it's a 15 years old model? It's not even mandatory that a new generation must release every 8-10 years.
Also the first generation Toyota Century was in production for 30 years, yet nobody complained by that.
@@automation7295 really? Comparing century with this?
It looks like they were trying to evoke the R34 front end with this one. And to be honest I love the new front end over the previous. I do think it says a lot that this 17yr old car is still hanging in there. It was way ahead of it’s time when it was released. I do hope it gets a complete redesign soon though. Don’t want it to die because of stagnation.
You just said it. They don't actually need to update the car cuz it can still hang with the big boys... In fact the big boys are still trying to hang with it.
the new 2024 is amazing
I like that the GTR hasn't undergone a new design. They have evolved it subtlety over the years instead of modifying the design language drastically. Appreciate it now, because when it's gone we will wish we still had a twin turbo GTR to be critical about.
Godzilla: I'm tired.
Nissan: Nope.
This will Age well! Way to go respect the heritage look combined w/ modern R35 looks, came out perfect!
I ENJOY your detailed/deep analysis of differences between the GTRs (Years) because MOST people don't know and don't do good analysis. Compare it the real version of the cars. And, your opinions are good, too.
I'm 100% in, love the new Nismo, I thought I fancied the T- Spec more at first but your breakdown of the improved Nismo is extremely compelling. Great video.
Nissan is so good Z06 and Ferrari are toast we are going to see this car populate every intersection!🐎
Well, it kinda is R35 with a R34 front
The bar across the grille is a shame, it makes it look much less menacing. Thanks for the analysis! No need for the built in subtitles please, your speech is very clear to me (I'm South African for context).
I'm pretty happy they didn't change anything but the bumpers. This means you can facelift your car or you can undo the facelift but keep the mechanics updated.
That’s not a good thing imo, this platform is very much outdated technology wise and appearance wise. All that’s been updated is the grille, bumpers, and rear wing.
Second, some cutting & overall adjusting might be needed to integrate a newer or older bumper. Do what makes one happy I suppose, but putting a newer or older variant’s bumper onto a car seems poser-like. Homages are ok (like Murcielago bumper kits paying homage to SV) but best is to use a custom bumper or even use a race bumper. Any further mods can be made as well
@@rakmohh So you're saying the car is very much the same but if one decides to change it and make it visually impossible to distinguish it from a 2015 or a 2015 to 2023 is a poser? The Challenger/Charger are both older, the G Class was 40 years old until recently, Viper ran for 20+ years with relatively small changes too. So? Don't buy it. It doesn't make it any less competitive
@@alexmercer8042 That's putting words into my mouth bro, semantics matter. "seems" is the key word here. It would be too much trouble than its worth to do such a swap, but if it makes someone happy then I say go for it. We all have different preferences.
On some level it undeniably is poser-like, but what really matters is the owner being honest regarding the swap. No idea why some folks would only update the front bumper, rear wing, or something else on their car. Overall it's a-ok in my book, but as much as possible should be updated if proceeding.
With Mercedes, Lamborghini, Mustang, and other swaps I've seen the builder or owner is usually forthcoming about what's being done.
The modern Challenger is only a year older than the GT-R in terms of model years. The Charger 3 years. They have gone through plenty of distinct changes (Charger more-so than Challenger), though I wouldn't fault a non-car person too much if they couldn't tell a 2006 Challenger from a 2023.
The G-Class has gone through distinct changes but it's also a Mercedes and could've been executed better at different stages in its history. The bit about Vipers is flat-out incorrect as it has evolved drastically over the years, and a 1992 Viper is way different than a 2013 Viper. The "So? Don't buy it" comment is unnecessary energy, I'm not trashing the GT-R or any car here for that matter. I'll be in the market in the near future and will consider a GT-R.
What's also incorrect is the "less competitive" remark you said, which is actually true. Sure, the R35 GT-R has been updated over the years in several ways. But the other cars you mentioned were never truly thought of or meant to be as advanced performance wise or technological wise as the GT-R. There are far more entrants in the space compared to when it launched too. When the R35 debuted 1) there weren't as many bang for buck entrants in the space 2) it was technologically advanced
Not here to trash your thoughts or anything for that matter. These are my 2 cents.
To put it into your minds , imagine making a car in 1990 and keep it looking the same until 2007
They stopped making the 240sx but styled the R35 like it... So technically the design has been here from 1989 to present. It's a winner 🏆
The Porsche 911 has been developed for over 50 years!
The new lines make the car look lighter and slimmer than before. Previous versions looked big, but the car is actually quite small if you've ever seen it in person. I think the new facelift matches the proportions equally in reality and in design
They got this on life support at this point.
It’s time for the GT-R to be redesigned. I remember how excited I used to be back in 2007/8, following spy-shots of the GT-R development. And when it finally came out and was released in the States, I was elated! But, 17-years later, I’m SO over this car. I can’t even get excited about it anymore. It long past time for Nissan to overhaul this car.
I agree on the base model GT-R. Old front + new rear = Yes please 🙂
How ever, I do not like the new Nismo front. Look closely, it looks like someone with braces getting fishhooked, while the old Nismo was MUCH more defined by the reverse horseshoe center. The rear is on point though.
Front def was inspired by an r34, love it.
I like the new one a lot. The base model looks like a grand touring car and the gtr looks like a way more track focused car over the last model
Nissan should take retro cues like the New Z and apply it in R36. This recycled R35 is just a lazy and lame attempt from Nissan for 15 year old model
@@lucky889s9 That's not true... They did a lot of thing for the new version.
@@lucky889s9 Also stop hating on the R35 you everywhere
@@RiasGremoryS54 you need to kiss it goodbye bud. It's been 15 years that gundam looks is getting old. Only some little improvements, not a lot of things like you said.
@@lucky889s9 please comment the same on aventador and 911 too bro they need it "recycle" yeah thats right edit: oh and ferrari too
The new front facia looks reminiscent of the R34, I love it.
The Nissan GTR is better than ever! The front looks like R34 but modern and the back is a masterpiece modern GTR and Nismo 🤩
I love the new redesign, wish they made it a little slimmer like the 09”.
Had a blast watching! Looking for more
Imagine Nissan dropping a manual GTR on this day and age …. People would go nuts
It's like Mariah Casey's- all I want for Christmas ..we have seen the GTR being around for so long now ,it existing is a part of a car guys life and it's existence is almost taken for granted ...once this ends its going to leave a small void as we know the auto landscape will be quite different with Evs everywhere
Me the whole video: "How df are you drawing such precise lines with one stoke?" 😂😂
I kinda love this. The long and low lines make it look kinda retro 90s JDM
Front End - 2017 version

Rear End - 2023 version

Perfect looking R35
One thing I think people forget is that alot of the current GTR's design is derived from the 2001 GTR concept car. This is effectively a 22 year old design, still getting updated. I'd be lying if I said I disliked the 2024 facelift, though. It looks pretty nice.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
I like the new one... It's an homage to retro style R34, 240Sx S13 which is what this original design was inspired by. The original R35 tried to be more unique like an advanced iteration but this current redesign appears to be the missing Link. I really like it !
I honestly think we're exiting a design era. i'm getting the same type of vibe from all the newest cars coming out, and i cant explain it.
imo, the thing with this front bumper, that it is now in body color and now it seperates those 2 air intakes, it really fits this car and I really like it
For me, I see this as an absolute win!
It's literally a modernized R-34!
The 2008 Nissan GTR is probably the most beautiful car Nissan ever made. It still looks good 15 years later. Still looks like it could be a new design. It was 10 years ahead of its time in so many ways, but I think time caught up. They need to try something new!
For perspective, there are now people who are younger than the R35 GT-R, and are old enough to drive it. Also, BMW replaced the E46 only 2 years before the R35 came out.
This facelift makes the care look softer, even in the nirmso version, i prefer the previous facelift with the more boxy design.
My favorite car. So glad it’s still going.
I think the whole idea was to make it look less alien and more subtle. It definitely doesn't look as fat, edgy and over the top as all previous R35's do. I like it.
I like the new front-end design which got some of the DNA of the R34
The grill actually got smaller. Impossible!
R34 vibes with the new front end. I dig
A whole Video for a different front and rear bumper. Amazing 😀
Am I the only one who sees Kia Ceed in a new GT-R face? It's such a strange feeling. But overall design has been improved, I must admit it.
Thank you, The Sketchmonkey, for this video!
What is your take on the lights that Ah next to the middle grill, If I think the out of place and stick out too much so I thought they could have been some sort of small intake there instead.
this facelift reminds of the r34 i love it ❤
Not gonna lie. The design of the original GT-R back in 2007 is a truly ageless design. Right amount of square and rounded parts. Unique design elements, like the front frender, headlight/grill and tailliight/rear treatment, that were not just gimicks. They looked cool, could actually be made into reality for the money, and aged well, because they weren't just showy fake or overly flashy bits (caugh, Supra vents are going to really hurt that car over time). It's just a very nice looking design, that also includes some semblence of practicality. If it had only ever been shown in 2024, I still think most of us, seeing it now for a very first time, would still say that it looks good and fairly modern today. Also, you would expect, more affordable too, considering it is a fairly modest design by today's standards.
To me, it's aging like many of BMW's (not current) designs. They just look good. If BMW were to make a "retro" M3 of gen 1, 2, or 3 design, with modern tech and power, but retro nods here and there, it would likely sell like hotcakes. I mean, just look at how it's been working since the New Beetle kicked off the trend in 1997. Which lead to the Mini Cooper and first retro Mustang, then Camaro/Challenger, now Bronco so on and so forth.
I have to say though, that Ford is a bit nuts with their Bronco pricing. They are REALLY betting on folks buying them on Nostalgia. Well I gotta tell yeah, I am not seeing many Broncos out there as yet. It's still early days but... yeah. Maybe cut all prices by 15% Ford. Yuh greedy bastages.
Got off track there, but basically, I don't blame Nissan (despite them really letting all of there vehicle generations languish on the vine for decades plus). Financially, I think they are trying to find ways to gain market share and GROW, not go bankrupt. Hell, it's working for the Challenger. Chysler/Diamler/Fiat has been an almost mirror image in how they've operated. And with a retro design in the new Z, I can see Nissan gearing up to do the exact same with that vehicle as well, hoping a new design based on a almost universally lauded design in the 240Z, may let it grow legs and have staying power.
All that being said, I typed all of the above before actually watching the video and seeing the updates. The updates are a side-grade, if anything, for me. So far, I think standard GT-R: 2021 design > updated design; Nismo GT-R: 2021 design < updated disign.
Does anyone else feel that the height of the front, regardless of whether updated or not, is too 9:30 high? Especially the bottom middle where it always raises? I'm sure it likely serves an airflow function, but if not, I think the front could look quite a bit better if the front extended down an inch, especially in the middle, to at least match the height of the sides of the front. Maybe even bowing toward the ground in the middle. Bembli mentions how the Nismo version does it better and I agree, but it still seems a bit "off", weaking the middle of the front by squishing it upwards.
I hope they never change the shape of the GTR that shape is iconic what they did here is beautiful, the nose looks like the great GTR34,compare the two and see, one thing they should have done is upgrade the headlights and taillights,I hope they upgraded the interior screen to atleast 9 inches .every car nut who can afford this car should get it.
I thought the rear end was barely changed but when you started highlighting, it’s was more obvious and the updated version looks much nicer. I still don’t know about the front though. I actually really like the 2007 version and 2021 as it’s all in one big box but the 2022 looks more like the old cars but imo the rectangle bar look to round and should have made it slightly more boxy
The bumper view at 4:59 reminded me the 2000's Mitsubishi Eclipse
New GT-R reminds me of the R-34 and that's awesome!!!
Everyone that bought 2021 Nismo must be mad they paid $50k+ over sticker for a car that is no longer collectible as the last R35.
They need to update the AWD and traction control, etc. But SavageGeese said this was one of the most user-friendly sports cars available.
I know it’s a slim chance they will but why don’t they release a manual for it , it’ll be kinda exciting, and I feel like it’s kinda too ahead of it’s time in the sense that they are having a hard time topping what the r35 was when it first release, especially with messing up the execution of a new r36
The facelift needs new head- and rearlights so badly! Not the shape, just the internals. New lights make the biggest difference in any facelift. Really sad that they missed that chance.
Well explained thanks bro nice vid
I actually like it. The fact that they're still making this car is a blessing for us car enthusiast
the front face of the basic version if you remove the headlights it looks like a facelift of the R34, this version is the transition between the R34 and the first R35
The sharp rear bumper edges are so the air cleanly separates off of the rear and isn't tumbling off
I freakin love the 2024. They should just build the R35 until government regulations make it illegal. No R36 is necessary. I've always wanted one and now I have another year to save for the best looking variant yet. I like the front fender edge pointed out at 3:00 on the old car - very cool. But the new overall look reminds me of 1990s Japanese sports car glory.
Hmmm, when you think about it. The R35 is kinda the car world's answer to Skyrim. The older version were not that many years behind the newer ones or that many years in front of the older, but the R35 has been around many years now and it has just gotten some upgraded versions eventually instead of being replaced. Still love the new facelift tho!
They probably didn't want to go crazy with R&D considering the dying market for high powered gas sport cars. Also not wanting to upset die hard traditionalists resale value
I think the front grille is just fine, since it reminds us of the R34, but seriously that's not even 50% of what they can actually do!
Love that Green Tea model with the Bronze rims
You say "makes it look a little less refined" I say it's trying to look more like an r34 GTR front end. And I dig it!
The inside more than anything and engine changes and handling are the most understated changes.
Basically Nissan "listened" to online critics on the PS R34 with R35... Which is not bad but still 600hp, should have increase to 700hp.
Color is still good: Jade Green 👍🏼, but hopefully got midnight purple..
Godzilla power , can't go wrong with a gtr baby
I actually kinda like it but I want something new already it's been years since they made a whole new version of the skyline
Idk how to express this. But I was really excited for the new model, partly because, I heard they were gonna take a step back, and involve some features from older models like the skyline and etc. But now I don't see the drastic change.
At 2:23, definitely prefer to 2021 front end. Solid, muscular and immediately identifiable in a rear view....less generic than the newer one
I actually like the previous front-end design better. But I certainly can't complain about how Nissan has been taking styling ques from their previous generations of sports cars in their Zs and GTRs.
The base gtr's front looks better in the previous version but in my opinion its the opposite in the nismo version. The new nismo just looks better in every angle but i cant say the same for the base model. Im just not feeling it in the front bumper. But still its a great looking car.
2024 gtr is the best gtr design in my opinion. The design looks more timeless, fast and aerodynamic. Not too much sharp edges like you see on concept cars.
With these 4 years recycling models, I think it's kinda match the 20th anniversary models being launched as 2028 year model, possibly as the farewell edition.
Or maybe they still wanna extend it more 😂
The new facelift looks like mma fighters when they get a cut below their eye
I aint gonna lie the r35 reminds me of grand theft auto for three reasons:
1. they got facelifted/remastered 3 times
2. there isn't a brand new 6th title/car
3. both cant get over the 5th
I prefer the first version of the r35 what I would like to see is a r36
Damn this is my dream car and not gonna lie that split grill killed it for me, I liked the big grill it's what gave the GTR it's personality
Get the previous year model. They’ve been making them long enough where there’s different front/rear ends for each refresh. Take your pick there’s tons of them
The GTR & Dodge Challenger definitely subscribed to the “Evolution over revolution” ideology
i feel like the changes they did to the front end makes it look closer to the older generations of skylines and the only thing missing is the horizontal headlights.
That Chrome peice is on top of some samurai helmets
To me it looks more like the r34 and I love it, I mean this should have been the very first basic design of the r35 “skyline” GTR
Its amazing that AFTER ALL THESE FACELIFTS i still love the original one. Its my Favorite
Also the front end design esp. the top grille kinda reminds me of those R36 fan renders i see on my pinterest feed
